Let me ask you a question when you supply power to the key in the power position( before you crank the motor0 do you see a check engine light on the dash display? If not check your master fuses under the hood one that controls the check engine system may be bad which will prevent the computer system from allowing not only spark but any of the ignition systems to operate IE(fuel pump etc.) You may also check the electrical part of the ignition switch. I had the same problem and the ignition switch wasn't sending power to the computer to send spark to the coil.

There are two bolts on the bottom of the tranmission fluid pan. The lower of the two is the drain, and the higher of the two is the filler. YES, the filler is on the bottom of the pan. Warm the ATF by driving for 15 minutes or so, remove the filler plug and pump fluid up into the pan until it overflows out of the filler hole. Then cycle the tranny through the gears and couple times and refill. Personally, i'd check it again a couple days later after some driving.

The '99 Honda Passport automatic transmission does not have a transmission dip stick. if it is a automatic pull trans. dip stick and add their if not it should be on side of trans. Pull the transmissionn dip stick, and get a small funnel, and pour the fluid in.

that depends on the model year of the rodeo. If its a 92/93/94 remove the guage housing module(see how do i remove the dash board of a 93 rodeo) Once the module is out the front and rear panels of it will pop off with a screwdriver and you can replace the bulbs.

Not hard at all. For the rear shocks just crawl under the vehicle, unbolt the shock from the top and bottom, pull it out, and replace it. For the front it's about the same, only difference is that you'll have to jack it up and remove the tires to get to them.

Depends on the Mileage! it should had been changed about 60,000 miles but it you dont know, then, go ahead and change it for your pieace of mind. It would cost you some money to take it to the mechanic and have him take a look at it, but you better of changing it that way you clear all doubts.

The Passport has what is called a sealed transmission like a manual tranny. You have to put it in the air or crawl under it and there will be 2 plugs. One is on the pan the other is further up. Unscrew the upper nut put your finger in the hole if it comes out dry u need fluid. Make sure to do this on flat ground to get the most accurate reading

The recommended ATF is Dexron III (can also use Honda Genuine ATF-Z1)

it's weird. there is a metal wire piece that helps secure it. you squeeze them inward and pull away from the bulb. you then lightly twist and pull it out. then then it unplugs. passenger side is easier then the driver's side. i have big hands and it's horrible for me to change. good luck.

According to my service manual, 87 Octane (Regular Unleaded) is recommended.

We replaced the fuse, and it went out.

Check the fluid level. If you have to add some make sure you use only genuine Honda ATF DW-1. If the fluid level is ok, then you need to seek professional help.

Better double check the year of your Passport. It's not 2003.

Shift solenoids are found on the transmission of the 1998 Honda Passport. The shift solenoids allow for smooth operation of the transmission when passing through the gears.

The EGR Valve on a 96 Passport is at the back of the engine near the driver's firewall and has wires coming out the top. Look for a picture of one on the Internet using a search for it so you know what it looks like or ask your parts dealer to show you one. When you have removed the valve and the gasket, bring them both with you to replace it. Sometimes there is a different valve depending on the MFG date. When replacing mine, I had to use one from 2001. Be sure to clean the surface where the gasket goes. The two holes, one larger than the other might be blocked with carbon. Use a wire brush, not too stiff to remove the soot. If this EGR valve is being replaced to correct an emmission problem, drive 100 miles before have a retest, stopping and restarting the engine a few times over several days. Some auto store, ADAP for one, will do a free test. Dealers will charge big bucks for a 5 minute test. Good Luck

Fire away For the 3.2l dohc v6 it is 1,2,3,4,5,6. with the cylinders being numbered from front to back and left to right 1,3,5,right and 2,4,6 left. The left and right side of the vehicle is determined from you setting in the drivers seat For the 2.6l 4cyl it is 1,3,4,2 starting with the right front wire and going in counter clockwise direction, and the cylinders are numbered from front to back 4,3,2,1.

Timing timing is set by the onboard computer and cannot be manually set

It is overheating. Possible causes are thermostat stuck closed, defective water pump, cooling fan not working, clogged radiator, and more. STOP drivng this car until you get this fixed. You are going to ruin this engine if you have not already done so.

If the noise is coming from where the water pump is, it is a good chance the it is actually the timing belt tensioner. These things are notorious for making awful noises when they are beginning to go out and will get worse and worse. The same engines are in an Isuzu Rodeo with the exact same problem.
