How would you know if air is present in a hydraulic clutch linkage?
hydraulics work because fluids are considered a non-compressible material.
therefore when you put your foot down on the clutch pedal it pushes the hydraulic fluid pressure through the line to disengage the clutch.
if there is air in the line the air bubble will compress (gases ARE compressible) and you will feel a "spongy pedal" and you will have to "pump" the clutch pedal to move that air bubble down the hydraulic line before you get a "good" clutch
How does hydraulic steering work?
Firstly you need reservoir for hydraulic oil from there goes one line to inlet port of hydraulic pump (which is driven by a engine or electric motor) then the high pressure port from hydraulic pump goes to hydraulic steering orbitrol, which is connected by a shaft to a steering wheel and has usually 4 ports. One port is connected to a pressure port from hydraulic pump (high pressure). Second port is return line to a reservoir (lower pressure). The other two ports are lines that goes to a hydraulic steering cylinder (which delivers the turning force to steering wheels).
Operation:
When the hydraulic pump is running and has pressure on outlet port the hydraulic oil flows through hydraulic steering orbitrol and back to reservoir. And when you apply turns to a steering wheel the hydraulic steering orbitrol redirects specific amount of hydraulic pressure to a hydraulic steering cylinder and there you have a turning force.

What is a hydraulic jack made of?
Hydraulic jacks are always made of steel. No other material would be able to take such internal pressure
Where can I locate an Allis-Chalmers WD-45 hydraulic pump?
Try your local AGCO or Massey Ferguson dealership. Go to (the related link at the bottom)
and fill in the required information. A screen should come up with a liat of dealers. Any of them should be able to get you any Allis-Chalmers parts you need.
How do you change the hydraulic lines of the VW cabrio convertible top?
I replaced two leaking lines. I bought high pressure 1/8" ID hose online (several sites have it). Each line is individually removable. At the pump end, each pair of lines is held in the pump body by a star-head screw. Remove the screw and just pull out the fitting.
End fittings can be re-used by carefully cutting around the crimped area about 1/8" from the end and grinding it flat. It will pull off, exposing the hose underneath. Carefuliy, without damaging the barbs, cut the old hose off. Push the barb into the new hose. If you can find small hose clamps (not the type with a worm screw, but one with a nut & bolt which applies a clamping force evenly over the whole circumference) use these to secure the end. If not, you can use 18 ga. steel wire, wrapped twice around the hose and twisted like a twist tie. Put three or four of these twist wires around the new hose over the barb area.
Careful with the little O rings in the fittings while doing all this. Total cost to replace all lines is about $30 + 3 hours work.
Good luck!
A centrifugal pump is one that is used to transport the fluids throughout a vehicle. It uses this pump to get the fuel to the areas it needs to go.
How are hydraulics used for hydraulic drills?
The vertical hydraulic cylinder can be created for the drill.
How many pounds of hydraulic oil per gallon?
7.414 pounds/gallon.
Generally hydraulic oil is given as 0.89 gm/cc and 1 gm/cc = 8.33 lbs/gal.
Where do hydraulic fluid go in a Massey Ferguson gc2310?
Standing behind the tractor look below the seat and just below the bodywork and there is a small (1") removable cap with a tube leading downward.
What weight Hydraulic oil for 773 bobcat skid steer?
The best thing to use is the Bobcat "orange" Hydraulic fluid. Actually you dont use hydraulic fluid in a skid loader you need to use hydrostatic transmission fluid. Drive relief pressures are in excess of 5000 psi, the fluid needs to drive the machine as well as make the lift arm raise up and down. If you cant get the Bobcat stuff than use 10w30 or better MOTOR OIL. Dumping ISO 46 or AW32 can be a very costly mistake.
I had the same problem with my '03 Sebring. For me, it was a bad motor; however, a simple leak in the system will cause the same problem. Removing the interior of the car to look for leaks and/or expose the motor for replacement is fairly easy.
Here are the steps for replacing the motor, best as I can remember them:
Does a 1986 Nissan 300zx have hydraulic lifters?
Yes, 12 of them. Typically one will go bad and tick. If you're going to replace one, replace them all. Can get all 12 on ebay motors for ~$150. Replacing them all will prevent problems down the road.
How do you hook up a hydraulic log splitter to your 1956 Ford 850 tractor?
If it has hydraulics, you should be able to attach the splitter. This may require the purchase and installation of a hydraulic transfer box. Be wary if you look at doing this yourself...hyrdaulics are fluids under high pressure and can cause devastating injuries when they leak.
If the tractor has a PTO, you can get PTO-powered hydraulic transfer boxes. From what I've seen they can be really expensive.
If you have neither, you're likely not going to be able to get this working.
What Hydraulic fluid do you use for a 1999 VW Golf Cabriolet power Roof?
I found a very thorough answer to this on Edmunds.com, check the 'related links' below. This is what it says:
Electric-/hydraulic convertible top pertains to a closed hydraulic system. As a rule, a filling is only required after opening hydraulic circuit (e.g. after replacing parts).
Remove CD player if installed.
Remove screws of left luggage compartment trim and remove trim.
To fill, convertible top must be opened, actual oil level can only be determined when in an opened state.
Remove oil filler plug.
Oil for convertible top hydraulics: G002 000.
Top off hydraulic oil only until oil level is between "Min" and "Max" marking.
Use a fill container for filling hydraulic oil.
Fill container must only be used exclusively for this purpose in order to prevent hydraulic oil impurities by other oils.
Screw oil filler plug tightly (5 Nm ).
Is power steering fluid hydraulic fluid?
There are many different specification and types of Hydraulic fluid. A specific power steering fluid for one car model may not work for all cars. So be careful when you substitute different fluids. Hydraulic fluid used in aircraft is different from that used in cars. The fluid used in shock struts and landing gears are different. Swapping fluid can cause the seals to weaken and result in leaks. The term "hydraulic fluid" can be a generic word for any fluid used to power a mechanic device.
How rivited joints are made in air tight?
Riveted joints are made by drilling and deburring the rivet holes. Then hot rivets are driven (the rivet fits loosely into the hole, the driver crushes the hot rivet until it fills the hole tightly) into the holes. As the rivet cools it shrinks in length, tightening the joint (pulls the plates together). Overlapping joints (where one joint overlaps another joint) are scarfed (thinned) to fit together smoothly. After the rivets are cool the edges of the plates, or straps are caulked (upset along the edge) with a caulking chisel, to form an air tight or steam/water tight seal.
Difference between meter in and meter out in hydraulics?
"in" and "out" are the direction of the pressure.
Does a Toyota starlet have a hydraulic clutch?
Yes, mine has just popped and therefore have found this out myself.
What is the purpose of a rod seal in a hydraulic cylinder?
To keep the hydraulic fluid in (double acting cylinders) and to keep dirt/washwater/etc out.
