On a 2004 Kia Optima with a 4-cylinder engine, the ignition failure sensor is typically located near the ignition coil or within the distributor assembly, depending on the specific engine configuration. It may be mounted directly on the engine or attached to the ignition system components. For precise location and access, referring to the vehicle's service manual is recommended.

In a 2005 Kia Optima, the OBD II port is typically located beneath the dashboard on the driver's side. You can find it near the steering column, just above the pedals. It may be necessary to remove a cover panel to access the port.

Transmission sensor problems on a 2004 Kia Optima will cause incorrect shifting, poor performance, and hesitation. Sensor failure can be narrowed down by connecting an OBDII code reader to the vehicle's computer.

That probably indicates that the battery is not fully charged.

The fuel pump on a 2005 Kia Optima is removed by the fuel tank, disconnecting the fuel lines, and pulling the wiring harness. The pump can then be unscrewed from the tank, lifted out, and a new pump put in place.

Most of the time a quick jerk of the steering wheel either to the left or right helps.

Another thought, try to step on the brake. To release the turn on my car I have to press the break peddle to get it to move.

The front three are easy because you can get to them simply by removing the big plastic engine cover. The back three have the intake plenium blocking access to them. It is not that big of a job to do, but you must be patient and not snap off any of the sensors you will be working around. The plenium-to-intake manifold gasket is a one use steel type. I almost tried reusing it, but was very glad I didn't, when side-by-side with the new one I could see the old one was much flatter. This is a dealer only gasket, and I found that this part interchanges with the 2.5 V6 in the Hyundai Sonata. Where I live the Hyundai dealers parts department is open on Saturday, but Kia's is closed. Price was about $21.00. No special tools are needed, but the sparkplugs are deeply recessed, and the rest of the job is removing hoses and hardware right up next to the firewall. Don't be surprised if the fronts still look pretty good, but the backs look quite worn - it gets hotter in back. Good luck! S. McDonald

The bonded rubber is probably ripped, replace them.

First I will describe the CMP sensor location, then at the bottom of this post tell you how to get there, ok? The how to get thre directions are from a 2001, but so similar as to be the same.

The CMP, or Cam Position Sensor, senses TDC on the number 1 cylinder on the 6 cyl 2.7 Optima and the 4 cyl 2.4. What this means to you..on the v6 you are going to have to remove the plastic shroud and surge tank from the engine, as the number 1 cyl is the top left facing the engine from the front. Luckily, it is mounted on the cyl head so once you get to it its a piece of cake. One bolt to secure it to the engine and a plug at the other end.

While you are in there, replace the surge tank gasket and check all vacuum hoses for leaks or cracking, as this is the best opportunity you will have to do anything under the surge tank. Check the wiring going to your injectors and the connections, pull your PCV valve and clean it with carb cleaner, etc. This is a great time to replace your plugs and wire set if you are going to keep the car, trust me unless you are inclined, you will not want to do this again...not hard, just about 2 hrs the first time.

To know you are removing the right part, just search 2003 optima crankshaft pos sensor and you will find some photos.

01)Remove the oil filler cap.

02)Remove the (4) bolts holding the engine cover in place.

The front 3 wires and plugs should be accessible at this point. These are the easy ones. Feel free to replace them now.

Now for the back 3. In order to get to the back 3 plugs and wires you need to remove the intake manifold (air surge by Kia's phrasing) completely. I thought it was a lengthy process and the dealer explained it would take 3.5 hours of labor by a professional. You will be surprised at how easy this is.

03) Remove the air intake hose from the air filter housing side and the throttle body side. There is a hose which leads to a pipe on the engine. Be sure to remove this on the engine side. There is no clamp on this hose. Place the air hose to the side out of the way.

04) Remove the 2 bolts (should be 10mm) holding the throttle linkage cable brackets on the front side of the engine.

05) Remove the 2 botls (should be 10mm) holding the placement bracket for the breather hose (will be a short foot long hose connecting the front side of the engine to the back side. There are clamps on the hose.) Remove of the hose isn't necessary but it does get it out of the way so I would recommend removing the hose as well.

06) Remove the 3 bolts on the front of the intake manifold. 12mm

07) Remove the 2 longer bolts from the top of the intake manifold 12mm

08) remove the two nuts on the outer ends of the intake manifold. 12mm.

Also ensure the electrical connectors on the throttle body housing are disconnected, there should be 2.

Now here's where it gets tricky. The following is all done on the back side of the manifold/throttle body linkage area.

09) On the rear passenger side of the intake manifold there is a bolt, 10mm. Remove it. This will probably also have a grounded line attached to it. this is a bracket for some fuel hoses.

10) Below that you will find a 12mm bolt, remember it but don't remove it just yet.

11) There are 2 bolts holding the throttle body linkage bracket. Remove those and place the linkage out of the way. Next part gets kind of tight.

12) The 12mm bolt you found before, remove it. Directly in line with that bolt going from passenger side to driver side should be 2 more bolts evenly spaced. You will need to remove these bolts. Best way for me for the 2 other bolts was to work from the driver side as it provided more room.

Once those bolts are removed, the intake manifold should come right off. Place it to the side, replace your plugs and wires and installation is opposite of removal.

Sorry to tell you the bad news! I is an Interference engine!

You can get a replacement battery from Autozone. Have the service person look it up on their computer. For a 2004 Kia Optima 4 cyl a DuraLast 24F-7H-DL around 70 bucks after return of old battery. If another auto parts place check to be sure they carry one. Make, model, engine (4 or 6) and year does matter...

My mom has the same Kia and they replaced hers for free because it is part of a recall. You can google the recalls on line and then call the dealership and give them your VIN number and they will tell you if yours can be replaced free of charge.

If it's the 2006.5 model, open the trunk and find the service panel for whatever side you are replacing the bulb on. There is a white plug and a black socket and a white socket (this is the turn signal housing). The only way to remove the white socket is to remove the entire assembly which you can do easily by removing the four nuts holding it in place and disconnecting the white plug. Then all you do is turn the white socket and pull it out, then push down on the bulb and twist it and it pops right out. It takes about 5 minutes.

The 2009 Kia Optima runs on regular unleaded.

It is located behind the glove box and instructions are in the manual.

The EGR valve on my 2003 Optima (2.4L) is located basically in the rear of the engine compartment, near the firewall, almost dead center of the car, just below the throttle body. Not sure if it is the same place on the 6 cylinder.

the camshaft position sensor for a 2005 kia optima four cylinder is located on the right side of the valve cover in front of engine its right under the cover on top of engine you should see it when you pull the cover off it has one bolt 10 mm holding it on and one plug.

i do believe they said CRANKSHAFT SENSOOOOORRRRRR> not camshaft

crankshaft sensor is on passenger side behind the lower timing belt cover right next to the crank pulley. replacing this is not fun. i know, i have done it.
