It's 14, but you don't get but barley any working hours and not much money. It's better to start at 16 and even than you don't get called in much.

You have to be 16 in most US cities in order to have a job and earn wages - some places it is 18. This is just because of the legal issues involved if you should have an accident on the job and get hurt. Restaurants have lots of ways you could get hurt, from dropping a glass or plate and getting cut to getting splattered by hot grease in the kitchen all the way to cutting yourself with one of the knives when you are cutting up food! There are places where younger teens could get jobs, though. Check with your school counsellor, or call the local job search (check the yellow pages in your phone book or online)

It depends on the laws in the state you live, however it is my experience that at the store i work at the only minors (under 18) hired are those whose parents work somewhere in the kohl's company, because then there is someone to make sure the minors are behaving.

This might help but then again it depends on where you live.

If you have a talent you can always go down to a busy street and play an instrument and get paid for it.

If you dont have a talent like that then try to save up your money you own and do extra jobs around the house and get paid for it.

If its the summer you can have a lemonade stand or you can wash cars for a little pay.

If its the winter then you can go around and ask people to shovel the yard for as much money as you like.

If you would like to get a work permit go to your local school official designated as issuing officer or go to your city workforce development center and provide a copy of a birth certificate, passport, or copy of baptismal record. They will then give you a form to fill out for Child Labor Form. It asks your age, name, address, city, age, height, weight, hair color, eye color, last school grade completed, minors signature, parent signature, parent last name, first name, work phone, issuing officers name and title, mailing address, city/zip/state, issuing officers signature, business name, business addresss, businesss phone number, type of business, job duties, list equipment- machine chemicles and tools if used. You can then have one! Good Luck!

10 is waaay too many, let's begin by saying. I guess it's reflective of what type of work you are doing and how important the job/relationship with employer is...If you want to stay on their "good side, show good work ethic, but also take advantage of your benefits, then even if you are given 10 sick days a year, you should only use 2 or 3. Especially in terms of playing hooky. In other words, 5 hooky days, used as sick days, is far better than 10 cold/cough/"ahem, I have a headache" days. If you're a hard worker, sometimes you need emotionally sick days too....

Yes, you do. The youngest you can work WITHOUT a worker's permit is 18 years old. If you're 17, you can't work later than 12 (at night) on a school night, but everything else is just like it would be if you were 18 or older.

I don't think so. In fact, as I understand it, the question of age should not be on an employment form. If you don't get a job for which you applied, and you refused to put your age on it, then you could file a grievance with the labor board. Or you could just call them and ask that they investigate, without giving your name.

One way or the other, you have left the job. If you quit, then you pick the time and date. But, you are not eligible for unemployment or other training. If they fire you, the time is not of your choosing but you may (depending) be eligible for unemployment. Most people have been fired at one time or another, sad to say. At subsequent interviews, try to stay positive about the company and be clear about what you gained in experience at that job. If the firing is your fault--attendance or performance issues, sort that out so that you don't repeat unacceptable behaviors.

There isn't a 'legal' age. It's pretty much whatever the parents want. That if, of course, if you are just watching kids for a family you know. However, if you want to get a job at a child care place, then it depends on the place itself I'm a teacher in Delaware and I think that when you are 16 you are able to watch a child approperatly, because you would have gone through the Red Cross training and you are more likely to handle a crises more smoothly as than a 13 year old

This shouldn't prevent you from getting a job. They are only seriously looking at felonies. A misdemeanor can be as simple as a traffic violation.

The US federal government does not require work permits. However, most states do. I really don't feel like going through all the states' various laws and looking this up for you since you were too lazy to tell us where you live; check with your state's department of labor.

I will say this: if your state requires work permits, it almost certainly requires them without exception.

You need to check with your work comp state laws, but in most states you do not have to pay taxes on your settlement. You can usually google something like "your state-work comp laws".gov to find website.

In most states if your employer moved to a location that is very difficult for you to continue working, they would rule you quit for justifiable reasons and would allow unemployment benefits. This move by the employer is something definitely beyond your control. The main question is whether the move was beyond your limits.

The current state minimum wage of Kentucky is $6.55 and will increase to $7.25 on July 1, 2009.
