See I myself is a student of electrical engineering at a govt. engineering college in india. Well it was too difficult for me too to figure out which laptop I should buy. I have selected some laptops , u can pick up anyone of these based on the price Rs. 10,000-20,000 go for Wipro ego minilaptops Rs. 20,000-30,000 go for Acer aspire laptops based on dual core processor. Rs. 30,000-40,000 U can choose HCL leaptops, they are great value for money. Rs. 40,000-50,000 Go for Sony Vaio VGN series laptops they cost around 45,000 and have core2duo processor. Rs. 50,000-60,000 choose DELL studio 15 - its the best fit for any job. I have this one. Its a fast and responsive laptop with high-definition WLED screen, 512MB graphics card,4GB RAM,500 GB HDD and slot drive. I am loving it. Its Wi-fi capability is superb.We have around 3,500 laptops in our college of different makes. I have compared mine with all others. Mine is the best.......everyone accepts that. Rs. 60,000-70,000 Dell XPS . They are even better than studio laaptops but are quiet costly for a student. beyond 70,000 I have no idea coz i never thought of purchasing a laptop in this range.

There are no 'watts' in a laptop.

A laptop, or any other electrical device uses electricity, and Watts measure the rate at which energy is used. Asking how many watts a laptop uses is like asking how many watts a light bulb uses. There are light bulbs that use a small fraction of a watt to those that use more than 1000 watts. As Watts measure energy consumption, it does not necessarily mean electricity: A person having a mass of 100 kilograms who climbs a 3-meter-high ladder in 5 seconds is doing work at a rate of about 600 watts.

It depends on the laptop as to how many watts it uses.

In electrical terms, one watt is the rate at which work is done when one ampere of current flows through an electrical potential difference of one volt.

When W=Watts; V=Volts; I=Amps; R=resistance in Ohms, then W = VI or W = I2R or E2/R

I have a netbook that uses a 19 volt, 1.5amp power supply. As Watts = Volts x Amps, it would appear that it uses 19 x 1.5 or 28½ watts. But that is only the power supply rating, The maximum the netbook uses is probably closer to half of that. The power supply is most likely very overrated. It operates nicely with the power supply when the battery is exhausted and being charged at the same time as being used.

Few points

1. If used on bed without any hard flat surface under the laptop, primarily you should be concerned about heat the laptop generates. With insufficient cooling, the laptop may shutdown when it gets overheated.

2. You may also sleep while using the laptop and may drop the laptop on the floor and damage it.

3. If you eat and drink while using laptop on bed, chances are more that you may spil some thing on the machine.

4. If you have no other option but to use the machine on bed, make sure you use some large wooden board or any large hard book under the machine to allow for air circulation under the laptop.

It's OK to use your laptop on the bed if you have something underneath it. For example, a book underneath your laptop will do good. The reason for this is, the heat produced by the laptop is really hot, and when there is nothing shielding the sheets ( they are highly flammable), it might catch on fire.

IMPORTANT: Do not put your laptop on your lap because:

1. If you're a guy, you have a high risk of catching prostate cancer.

2. If you're a female/girl, you have a high risk of catching any other form of cancer.

Well, i think the main reason is, the laptop cooling fan. Actually mostly laptops has cooling fans on it's base. Fan takes the air from it, and if it is on bed, then no air gets in the laptop. So it becomes hot. This is the main reason manufacturers suggests not to use laptops on bed.

Most of the time, they just push back on. You just have to line it up correctly, and gently put some pressure on the key. Make sure the computer is off before you do this.

I don't have an aced commuter ,but my H.P computer does that once in a while!

All you have to do is turn it off unplug everything and take out the battery in you computer.

Then wait five minutes plug everything back in and it will charge!

That's what do! And if this doesn't help! Check your warranty, if it's expired take it to a shop and fix it! Hope this helped .if not never buy and Acer computer ever again !

I know on my Toshiba Laptop, if I plug the flash drive in B4 I power up, it doesn't read it, but if I remove the drive and then plug it back in it works (while machine is running)

The hardware inside of laptops can only be changed to a certain degree. You can usually replace the battery, the hard drive, and the RAM. You can sometimes change the networking hardware, but that would have to come from the laptop's manufacturer. You won't be able to change most of the other internal hardware.

Get a new battery

well, if you have a Dell laptop, then there is a round hole at the back of it, it is on the right hand side, as you have it on your lap.

Any other makes, find a round hole and try it in there (depending on the shape on the end of the adapter) .
