How does a click type torque wrench work?
Well I'm not sure if you want the complete mechanical end of things... But i know some...
The wrench will have usually a turn type of an adjuster on the handle specifying torque amount. It works as a ratchet wrench until you hit the specified torque and you'll feel and also hear the wrench head and handle make a loud click when you hit that desired setting.
"If you keep trying to ratchet the wrench will net let you go anymore it will just keep clicking until you change the torque amount up on the dial"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
That last statement is false- The wrench will continue to tighten the bolt/nut after it clicks. It will only click once which is when the tension 'Pawl' flicks to the side as the side tension out muscles the spring tension (torque setting you have set). Once it has flicked to the side it cannot go any further so will continue to tighten if you go past that point. If you ratchet back and have another go that is different but once you hear the click do not continue in the direction of tightening. It is very different to how say your 24V cordless drill would work.

Can a 1998 Lincoln Navigator run on e85?
The 1998 Lincoln navigator IS NOT a flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV).
There are a few major differences between FFVs and non-FFVs.
One is the elimination of bare magnesium, aluminum, and rubber parts in the FFV fuel system.
Another is that FFV fuel pumps must be capable of operating with electrically conductive ethanol instead of non-conducting dielectric gasoline fuel.
FFVs fuel injection control systems have a wider range of pulse widths to inject approximately 40% more fuel.
FFVs use stainless steel fuel lines, sometimes lined with plastic, and stainless steel fuel tanks in place of terne fuel tanks are used. (terne is a coating used on steel tanks)
In some cases, FFVs use acid-neutralizing motor oil.
For FFV vehicles with fuel-tank mounted fuel pumps, additional differences to prevent arcing, as well as flame arresters positioned in the tank's fill pipe, are also sometimes used.
E-85 ethanol is used in engines modified to accept higher concentrations of ethanol. Such flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV) are designed to run on any mixture of gasoline or ethanol with up to 85% ethanol by volume.
The 1998 Lincoln navigator engine is not one of them.
