I was informed by my local dealership that after power is loss (disconnecting from the battery), using the switch at the window in question - take window down to lowest level and then bring it back up to it's highest level and hold the switch until you hear a 'click'. * with filter change 6.0 US quarts

* without filter change 5.5 US quarts.

Page 8-10 specifies use of 5W-20 SL oil.

Be careful not to overfill. For oil change, add 5 quarts, start engine, verify the engine oil pressure warning wight goes out after a few seconds, allow engine to warm-up, turn engine off, wait 5 minutes and recheck oil level. Add oil up to the FULL or MAX mark on the dipstick (oil level is OK between the LOW and FULL (or MIN and MAX) marks. Being near the full or max mark on the dipstick is better (because it gives you a little longer to identify and respond to a problem causing loss of oil and minimizes the risk of running low on oil).

I'm under the hood of mine right now and have found the exhaust manifold and the pre cat have separated. I've purchased a set of stainless headers as the Mazda cost of a new manifold was $1100.00 CAN$ That was without installation. Headers were $400 with all the piping. You'll have no more precat and one cat con will be missing but I won't cave to the dealer.

Changing the battery on a Mazda 6 is very easy to do. You will first need to remove the bar that is over the battery, then you will need to remove the battery terminals. After the battery is removed, put the new one in and put the battery terminals back in place, and put the bar back on.

The AT dashboard light on the Mazda 6 means there is a problem with the transmission.

The MAF Sensor is located on the top section of the Airbox. The airbox is located directly behind the driver's side headlight. You will see a rectangular electrical connector plugged into a part that is held in by 2 screws. That is the MAF sensor. Be very careful as to not touch the wires up inside the housing, as this will damage the sensor. Use electrical contact cleaner to clean it.

Edit - my 626 2001 clearly does not have a cabin filter. Remove the bottom cover beneath the glove box and viola, the sealed casement of the evaporator. Remove the fan assembly, and its clear that the intake port peeks into a very inaccessible area beneath the upper dash - loose wires, etc. Anyone paying anyone for a filter replacement on this car apparently would get a shaft. Oh yes, lots of loose leaves and crap inside the evaporator housing- dont try to remove it like I did cause it is unyielding, breaking into pieces despite removing all screws. This 2001 626 has had way more trouble than the family's 99 Ford...dont believe consumer reports.

You can not drain all the gas out, there will bee spillage.

Disconnect the battery ground cable. Drain the coolant from the system and store it in an appropriate container. Take out the drive belt.

Leave the pipe connected to the power steering pump and remove the pump with the pipe as a single unit. Push the power steering oil pump out of the way.

Take the water hose and the lower radiator hose from the thermostat. Remove the thermostat fasteners.

Lift out the thermostat housing, the thermostat and the gasket. Remove the gasket and discard it.

Install a new gasket to the thermostat and then set the thermostat in place. Set the thermostat housing in position and torque the fasteners to 71 to 101 inch pounds.

Fill the cooling system with the appropriate type and mix of coolant. Recycle the coolant when possible.

Reconnect the battery ground cable. Start the engine and test for coolant leaks.

i have a 2004 Mazda 6, and the first thing you do is you have to remove the door panel which is held on by plastic anchors and typically 3 screws so just pull out then up once the screws are out. then next you need to pull hard on the little black door tweeter (just plastic anchors) then its a simple unscrew and plug in and put the tweeter then door panel back on. the plastic anchors will still be good afterwards.

I also had a squeak in my left front wheel. I just now returned from my Mazda dealer Thursday 3/29/07 . They said that they had received a notice from Mazda about this problem. They installed a caliper pad set and a plate disc. They also replaced front pads and rotors at no cost to me. It was under warranty. My car is a Mazda 6, 2005 with 25008 miles. I have never placed an answer to this site. I hope that I did it correctly.
