OK this question can be interpreted in more then one way so I will address the both.

If you have a natural miscarriage you should see doctor after to make sure the uterus is empty. If not you can get infections. Usually when having a miscarriage you go to the ER since you are cramping and bleeding. You can bring the fetus to them so they can dispose of it properly or send it to the lab to find out why it happened depending on how far along you are.

If you have an abortion it's usually only up to the 7th week you have a medical one at home so you can flush if you want or put it in the freezer and give it to the doctor when you go to the checkup which should be as soon as possible. I know it sounds morbid but you can also ask the doctor this when you go to the clinic to discuss your options and get the prescription. They have heard everything and don't be afraid to ask.

I had a blighted ovum with my first pregnancy and my uterus was abnormally small. It seems to stop growing when the fertilized egg stops developing.

I had a scan monday thinking I was 6wks pregnant but when I had it they found a sac measuring 9mm the docter said its early and bring me back in to weeks have I lost my baby or is docter right its to early I just think he trying to make me think possitave :( am so unhappy just want to no if am going to misscarriage or there could be hope please help

A 9mm gestational sac should correlate to between 5 or 6 weeks gestational age, by which time one should be able to see a yolk sac developing, although maybe not a fetal pole. It is true, that a small gestational sac may indicate very early pregnancy, and a repeat ultrasound and Beta-HCG level should be done. 2 weeks is probably a bit long to wait, however. I would repeat the HCG in 3 days, and another ultrasound in 1 week at the most.

While it is possible this is a miscarriage, you should wait for the repeat testing to be sure before you really get worried. Otherwise, you have spent this time worrying for nothing.

If you had a miscarriage, you will definitely start bleeding heavily certainly after 5 weeks of pregnancy.

ER Doctors are always busy, and will mostly not be focused when the case is not an emergency, in the case you were bleeding and in pain then of course it could have been a miscarriage, best is to try a pregnancy test again, and change hospital.

You did not indicate what week you were at in your question. I am at six weeks one day today, and went to my doctor today for an ultrasound. I had one twin with a fetal pole and a heartbeat that was about four times the size of the other one, which had the gestational and yolk sac but no detectable heartbeat. My doc said that there is a possibility that the smaller one will not be viable (that it may have arrested), but that a followup ultrasound in two weeks is necessary to see if there is growth. The ultrasound tech said that she has seen fraternal twins implant at different times, thus resulting in different size sacs and different rates of growth. Assuming you are not far along, I don't think the size itself or lack of a heartbeat is definitive of having lost one of them, and they will probably be able to tell at a repeat U/S. You can also look up the concept of a vanishing twin - it is apparently a common phenomenon. In most instances, it is not harmful to the remaining twin when it occurs early on.

Yes, depending on how long ago the baby died. Each day from the day you miscarried, your HCG levels (pregnancy hormone levels) drop. If you test soon after the miscarriage, you will still test positive. But if you test positive a few weeks later, you could still be pregnant (or pregnant again). After 5 weeks, it shouldn't take long for your hcg levels to drop. This will also depend upon what you consider five weeks of pregnancy. It is possible (almost likely) that by your technical fifth week of pregnancy, you haven't even seen your OB/GYN yet. So if yo haven't been to a doctor yet, ad you have counted weeks since you discovered your pregnancy, that would mean you were more about nine weeks pregnant, rather than five. If this is the case, it will take longer for you to test negative after the miscarriage. If you haven't seen an OB/GYN yet, it is still okay to schedule an appointment, he/she may want to determine the reasons that might have caused your miscarriage (although it may be more complicated than it sounds). This can help improve the health of your next pregnancy. I , as well as the community are sorry for your loss, if you need help to get through this difficult time, you should consider joining a support group (even if it online). Losing a baby (rather it be an embryo, zygote, fetus, baby, etc) is difficult no matter what. But to answer you question, yes, you can test positive.

I don't know if you are late. If your normal cycle is 28 days then you were late as this was 32 days but many women have a 32 day cyle, or even longer. It is possible you have had a very early miscarriage but you will probably never know. It is thought that as many as 25% of pregnanies end in a miscarriage at this stage without the mother ever knowing she was pregnant. Of those that have been recognised as a miscarriafge (possibly becasue it happens several times) and the loss is checked, the vast majority are found to have a major chromosome disorder.

My friend went in to the doctors on a Wed. and the baby was moving and doing good she was due that week... He wanted her to come in on Thurs to be induced but her family didn't approve of it Friday morning around 3am she woke with vomiting and in very intense labor stronger than her other 4 children. By the time she arrived at the doctors Friday morning at 5am they couldn't find a heart rate. She was given meds to speed up the labor and had her daughter stillborn. Took less than 48 hours. For her, everyone is different.

we have the ability to contemplate our existence, our meaning, our being, our mortality, those we loves mortality, its a lot to deal with .

i also find music , movies etc are a great way to let go, even if its only for a wee bit of relief

talking it all out is also a great way to free up some space in your mind for other things and make you feel like you are doing something positive about what ever it is, and sometimes you talk so much you bore yourself

i don't suggest ignoring or denying problems but not always thinking about them gives your brain time to find solutions too as well as making you feel better temporarily

i wont claim to have the answers for you but i think your already a fighter for sure because you asked this question because you WANT to do something about it all. so i think you'll be ok.

im going though the same thing right now as the doctors said that they couldn't detect a heart beat but they never said that i would miscarry either they just said can i come in for a dnc so i said no and that i wanted a second opinion as i still am going through all the normal pregnancy symptoms and think that they could be wrong.

So it could be a possibility. But the doctors are saying it's not.

As you get older your breast do change before periods. I have just have to come off the pill, as breast keep getting lumpy. So if breast still same in two weeks, maybe you should see a doctor. I was sent for a scan to rule out other reasons and every thing is fine now.

I'm the one that asked the question.... I've been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 months now, and i havent been on any form of birth control for about 5 yrs. didnt know if this made a difference in your answer or not..... the pain started as nipple around the time of ovulation.... then about a week later the nipples stopped hurting but my breast swelled slightly and have painful lumps in them and have continued to hurt in that way for about 9 or 10 day now.... ugh its frustrating. I'm not sure if i should go to the doctor and see if something is wrong, or wait a few days and take a pregnancy test!?

It is almost certainly not twins. They would have been picked up by the ultrasound, and one twin is usually close to normal size.

Babies die in the womb for many different reasons. Sometimes it is because of errors in the genetic code and they never could have developed to a stage where life outside the mother was possible. It is very common for a baby to die early in pregnancy, but it is none-the-less distressing.

Sometimes the baby can simply be younger in age than the dates indicate, but the gap between is probably a little large in this case to explain it. It is possible for errors to be made, so more than one test is a good idea, especially two blood tests a few days apart measuring your hCG levels.
