Is tang healthier than soda?

Heck no! Tang is pretty darn synthetic. Here's a link to the ingredients in Tang:

http://everything2.com/title/Tang+Ingredients

Pretty darn similar to soda, only without the bubbles, and a few extra nasties. There really is no substitute for something made out of nothing but real stuff -- orange juice, tea, coffee, etc. Our bodies evolved over millions of years to be able to use what we find in nature, and I don't think humans are smart enough to create adequate synthetic replcaements.

It's also not as simple as just counting calories: a food has to be treated as a whole, as some high-calorie foods will pack on the pounds and some won't. I recommend reading In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. It's a great introduction to the notion of whole foods and why processed foods are less nutritious.

And let's not forget that Tang tastes horrendous.
