That is the 1968 thru 1976 "#2" block. It is a 350 CID engine. Solid main webs, heavy and strong. All were painted gold from the factory. No significant differences from '68 thru '76 on this block. The exact VIN stamp is at the LH side, at the front, on a vertical machined surface. 38M100123 for example- 3 for Oldsmobile, 8 for 1968 [9 for 1969, etc.], M for Michigan assembly plant [others possible], and then 100123 would match the car's VIN last 6. So, the 2nd digit of this VIN derivative will be the last digit of the model year of issue. This digit will also be on the engine's original oil fill tube, but the other digits will not match- an example would be an oil fill tube stamp of "8101442" for a 1968 engine.
