i had same problem on my 94 cutlass supreme...long story short, it was the ignition switch. $300. at shop.

underneath the steering column. it will have leads running from it to the firewall as well as to the shifter

If you notice whoever answered this was completely wrong. The firing order for most GM V6s are as follows 1 6 5 4 3 2 Clockwise, Except for the 2.8 V6 and it is 1 2 3 4 5 6

the same as a Chevrolet, 18436572, but olds and Pontiac distributers spin oposite. conterclock wise.

I work in the auto parts business and it is located under the brake pedal.

why a 427?, why not an olds 455?, it will fit but your going to have to change a lot of things like special motor mounts and a different transmission and you will need to get another driveshaft made.

Under the dashboard on the drivers side. I think its closer to the door than the center console.

Its in the engine compartment of the vehicle on the right hand side of the vehicle (your left) by the charcoal canister.

Either a 231 cid V6 or a 307 cid V8

You can probably open it with a flat blade screwdriver. The lock itself has a flat blade shaped rod that releases the latch. If the lock is gone, look for a rectangular shaped hole in the latch. Insert the screwdriver and turn clockwise.

If you follow your brake pedal up you'll see a little black part with two wires (red and green ) coming from it and that should be it... good luck... :)

try bypassing the fuel pump, and directly injecting fuel, this will tell you if the problem is the pump, the lines, or further ahead

Also, my experience is that the motor mechanisim gets dust and so must be cleaned. When I did this to my car, with a compressor and blow trigger, the fan operated well. Another time, same problem, the compressor and blower didn't rectify the problem, I checked my wiring and lo and behold, it was the wiring. Also, the thermostat tells the fan (by computer) what the motor temperature is and so tells the fan when to turn on/of. Don't mess with the thermostat - just change it. Get a chilton's mechanic repair book and look at the trouble-shooting section for more information. ================ Sensors are likely bad

I would suggest you invest in a repair manual. It cost around $12 at most auto parts stores, and will contain the info you need to complete this repair and many others. It will pay for itself with this one repair

At least 91 Octane. The higher octane is to prevent engine knock- esp susceptible b/c of the turbocharged engine.

Code 42 on an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera means you have a faulty ignition control module. You should inspect all electrical connectors to ensure they are tight.

In dash, if you don't have subscription to an on line mech. Program, buy the detailed Elect .Diagram schematic at auto store for 86 Old's. Good luck !

I MYSELF HAVE A 94 AND I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE 2 FUSE BOX'S UNDER THE HOOD, ONE BY THE BATTERY AND ONE ON THE OTHER SIDE UNDER THE HOOD, THERE IS ALSO ONE BEHIND MY GLOVE BOX AND ALL FUSE'S AS MARKED AS TO WAHT THEY CONTROL. it should be a 15 mm bolt. that's what it is on my 91 cutlass supreme and my 93 beretta.

Hello,, According to a service manual I have here, the firing order should be - 1-6-5-4-3-2 , Front Bank 1-3-5, Rear Bank 2-4-6. .
