Disconnect negative terminal on battery. On 1.9 turbo models remove the intercooler and on non-turbo models with D9B engines remove the air distibution housing. If necessary remove the inlet duct and disconnect the breather hose from the engine oil filler tube - all for easier access. On 1.9 models with an engine cover release the fasteners from the right hand side, then lift off the cover, careful not to lose the mounting rubbers. On 2 litre models turn the fasteners through 90 degrees to release the cover. Unscrew the nuts from the relevant glow plug terminals. Themain supply is to No.1 cylinder glow plug and an interconnecting wire is between the 4 plugs. Unscrew the glow plugs and remove from the head. Glow plug torque settings are 22Nm/16lbft. Adding to the gentleman above, the last time my 306 struggled to start (it only needs one plug to fail and it really takes a while with lots of battery power) I replaced all the plugs. I paid about £4 each at my local spares shop. 6 months on and its eaten another one. A simple trick is to remove them one at a time and test them with a set of jump leads. Dip the sooty end in a little white spirit and it soon evaporates if they work. Dont leave them connected for more than a second or two. As soon as you get to the one that doesn`t sent up a little wisp of smoke; you have found the dud....and there will only be one in all probability. If you are untidy like me, you will probably have tossed the old ones in your toolbox. Test all these on the battery and you will probably find like I did that 3 of them work. You can now happily use one of the old ones. Dont listen to anyone who says you need to replace all of them every time. They are only like light bulbs. You can be lucky and they willl last for donkeys or they will fail in a few months. Its very handy if you have ever been sucked in and bought one of those portable multi tasking battery jumpers with tyre compressor, and built-in light...they wont start your lawn mower, but they are good for pumping tyres and testing glow plugs! As a rule of thumb, most cars need the cam belt changed at every 100,000kms - or 5 years, whichever comes first.

I think the Peugeot 306 handbook states 120,000kms, however I would very much advise AGAINST this, it's not worth the risk.

Ok not sure on what HP your 306 would make. My Ford 302 Bored .30 over (306) is making 397 WHP with 7.5 lbs of Boost from a Procharger. Mustang 5.0 V8 302 1989.

Don't really think so, the 306 has one short and one long drive shaft with an intermediate bearing carrier. You could try a dirct comparison side by side.

You can either... unplug either battery cable for about 30 seconds, or just unplug the hazard fuse in main fuse box under the hood on passengers side for 10 seconds, and that's it.

its just below the right strut in a box or under the steering column

Hi The port is under the handbrake handle- flip the plastic cover off in the hand brake well. hope this helps

loosen the tension bracket (13mm) then loosen off the tension

remove the negative lead from battery, then starter and main lead off alt

remove belt, and tension bolt

one bolt left at top, think it's a 45 torx.....

to replace, just do the reverse

Your local auto parts store would be able to get you an alternator belt diagram for a Peugeot 306 Rally 2-liter, 16-valve model without air conditioning. You can also find it at the library.

The biggest advantage is probably the dependability of either their gas or diesel engines. Both have good reputations. Continuing on under the hood advantages, the 6 speed transmission came standard. On top of this it's handling and braking were both nimble. So it was a small unpretentious car that was actually a high performance vehicle when you got it on the road.

The 306 is a better option but neither will go straight in as the power steering pump will want to be where the radiator is.

Looking under the bonnet from the front of the car, you'll see the battery to the right of the engine bay. In front of this is the relay box, with a plastic cover. Pull the cover off, and you'll see a silver cylinder clipped to the inside of the near side wing, with a wire loom attached. That's the resistor. One wire controls the dip beam, one the main beam, and one is ground.

According to my manual, the fuel light goes on when the tank is down to approx 6 litres of diesel.

On the sump which can be accessed by jacking up the front of the car. climb underneath after securing the vehicle in a raised position and the sump plug will be on the lowest point of the engine pointing towards the back of the car and slightly down.

I had this problem and it was broken solder on the timing circuit board for the glow plugs

the heater on my scudo is exatly the same but now and again it will run for a couple of seconds but will stop sounding like its jamming so ill have to strip it down and investigate hope its not to hard to remove
