How would you fix nonworking gas gauge on 1988 Lincoln Town Car?
Answer Replace it. Just replaced mine as it was always on "Full" or above. Seems to be OK now. Aussie Bill.

Fair enough but I'd suggest seeing if the fault is elsewhere first, such as a poor electrical connection on the supply or earth side of the sender or gauge. If these are OK... establish if it is the sender on the tank, or the gauge itself, that has failed.

Where is the power steering reservoir on a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix?
Its a good chance that it doesnt have a power steering reservoir. Around 04 or so GM started using an electric power steering pump. It has pretty much become standard equipment on GM and a lot of Fords now
There is a reservoir, its behind the alternator and low in the engine compartment ,it looks like its pretty hard to get to, but it can be seen.
If you pull apart the center console, their will be a solinoid at the base of the shifter there will be a connector that plugs into it. you cant just replace the solinoid youll have to get the hole shifter assembly from the wrecking yard. theres 4 bolts that secure it to the floor, the cable runs thru the front of the bracket to go to the tranny it just unclips this failed on my 01 grand prix last fall
You take the old one off and put the new one on...lol...you have to take apart the black case in the front driver side...how to do that i dont know...but it revolves around that...as for the lights...check your fueses...i doubt its a bulb...if its not your fuse, check your wireing, then the bulb
Offer it a peanut. Offer it a peanut. Offer it a peanut.
What causes the service engine soon light to come on intermittently on a 2002 grand prix?
There are a multitude of things that will cause the check engine light to illuminated. The only way to be certain of which one is to have the car's computer scanned for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's). You can have this professionally done at a local GM dealership, where you can have the problem fixed or you can take the car an Advance Auto or Autozone parts store and have the computer scanned for free. Taking to car to the parts store may not work because some of the scanners they use can only work when the check engine light is on constantly and the information given is generic to more than one make and model of car.
Where is the blower motor resister located on a 2000 grand marquis?
Believe if you check your fuse boxes in your car manual it should provide you with the whereabout of of your resitor and fuses which run the fan. I did the same with my car and ubfortunateoy all were good except for my blower motor which was found to be no good. Costly but better to have heat and a/c than nothing to clear fogged windows, cold and heat.
You need to determine what you're losing first. Is it spark? fuel? or compression? I would suspect the first 2. Lets eliminate fuel by getting it when it is cranking but not starting. (I am assuming you don't know if fuel is or is not the problem). Spray some starting fluid into the throttle bore for a few seconds, then go try and start it. If it starts, loss of fuel is your problem. Say it doesn't start, your down to probably loss of spark. Without seeing the chart for troubleshooting, I would suspect that the answer for testing the ECM is "Replace with known good part". Many times in that era, test procedures would lead to an ecm, but was not the problem. Typically, the control module was the answer. I am assuming you have a 3100 motor. I think you can check the resistance and compare it against a new one as far as the module goes. But I may be mistaken on that. Since you mention another problem of an intake leak, is it internal or external? Is the coolant low? The only way I see that as possibly being related is if the coolant had been drawn into the cylinders and caused hydrolic lock. But if it starts up after setting a short time, then I would disregard that. One note about intake leaks is that if it leaks internally, you oil will turn to a milkshake or coffee color. My 88 GP had a short in the thermostat in the radiator the dealer had to run a new ground wire from the computer to the thermostat to fix the problem. now the car runs but the tac buries itself.

What could cause a misfire on a 1998 Grand Prix?
There are a variety of possibilities. A misfire is the lack of one or more of the following : Fuel, Spark or Compression in one or more cylinders. A timing belt or chain that has skipped a tooth is a rare but possible reason for lack of compression sequence. More likely is the lack of spark and or fuel. A spark plug, ignition wire, coil pack, module can all cause a misfire. Wet ignition wires can cause this, corroded connections. A faulty fuel injector can cause a misfire. There are more possibilities. Post what you find when you do figure it out. Answer Here is how I do it. The previous post was correct about the compression....if the timing chain is off though, it's off for all cylinders not just the one. This makes timing the least like cause. This generally leaves two other sources...spark and gas. Generally, if it's misfiring on only one cylinder, it is almost always spark. Here is how I figure it out. First thing I do is look under the hood at night. Most of the time, a misfire is caused by a faulty spark plug wire and in the darkness, you can see the spark jumping to some metal object. Of course you can also run your hand along the wires and they will let you know if the spark is leaving the wires, but that's my least favorite way to tell. :-) (Maybe get a person you don't like much to try that method for you!) The next thing I try is to find out which cylinder is misfiring and check to make sure the plug wire is actually delivering a spark to the cylinder. I do this by removing the spark plug and placing it on a metal object to ground the part where the threads on the spark plug are. You can also do this with a short wire with two alligator clips on it. After doing that, start the car and make sure you see a spark jump through the gap on the spark plug. If there is a spark, look toward the fuel injector, if not, then switch plug wires with another cylinder temporarily to make sure the plug wire doesn't have a short. If there is still no spark, the problem is more than likely a coil. You can test the coil for that cylinder with an ohm meter, but I don't know what the ohms are off the top of my head.

Where is the therostat on a 2000 Pontiac grand am 2.4 twin cam motor?
if you look under the exhaust manifold there is a metal pipe that runs between the oil pan and the frame. the metal hose connects to the thermostat housing under the manifold. you must remove the exhaust manifold heat shield on the top of manifold to get to the 2 8mm bolts to remove the thermostat. make sure you take note of the direction of flow from the old thermostat.
