What song should two sopranos and one alto sing in a school talent show?

Somewhere Over the Rainbow is a good song because you can add a lot of harmonies and is really easy to sing acapella. If you listen to either of the glee versions that may help. You could also try rumour has it by adele but I don't know how great that would sound acapella..... or you could try any adele song really but again, they may or may not sound bad acapella.

How do you stop singing through your-nose?

The problem of a nasal voice can be corrected with proper breathing exercises. You are not getting enough air in your lungs to support the vocal chords, so to compensate you try to let your sinuses do the work of your lungs.

Try this simple exercise. With one hand on your chest and the other on your tummy, inhale. Now exhale, and feel that your bottom hand doesn't move much. Next, repeat the exercise, but try to make the bottom hand move out with your inhalation. You will find that you are not using your lungs to their full capacity..oh and exhale now.

With this exercise, as you exhale sing one note in your range. Try to make the note last for two minutes. As you near the end of the second minute, you will notice that you are not using your lungs any more, but you are starting to get nasally again.

The vocal cords are not in your nose but in your throat, so concentrate on getting those lungs pumping air across the vocal cords. With a little practice breathing like this, you will find that your voice improves and your range might too. Visualize all that air rushing up through your throat. Recording your voice during this exercise will show you the difference in the quality of the sound.

Should this simple exercise not help, it might pay to get a voice coach to help you overcome this problem. The resonance of the sung voice does include the nose and the sinus passages and is more pronounced in higher pitched notes. This resonance adds to the richness of the sound so you do not want to eliminate it, but want a balance.

The sound generated when singing originates from the vibration of the vocal cords in your throat, but the more you can get resonance from other cavities, such as your chest, mouth and sinus, the richer the sound will be. If you are mainly resonating through your nose rather than your mouth, you are restricting the size of the cavity available, and the sound will be thinner in quality. Resonance in voice means the sound waves are bouncing in these cavities in a way that reinforces them and setting up a stronger pattern because of this. It is not something you can control easily like you can move your finger, for two reasons: * You cannot see the changes * The changes are difficult to feel as they are very small and in areas that we do not normally consciously control. For this reason, experimenting and practicing are important. Try the exercise above and also make sure that you are relaxing as you sing. Tension in the head and neck are not good for singing, and restrict the passageways. Think of all the strength in the sound as coming from your diaphragm. This is the muscle that controls breathing and it is at the bottom of your chest, between it and your abdomen.

Your upper body needs to be relaxed to resonate fully. Let your shoulders drop. Do not raise them as you breathe in. Let your jaw drop in a relaxed way so that you our mouth is well opened. Sigh and swallow and feel how after this your throat is relaxed. Relax your tongue. This is very hard to do, but very important, so at first do not make different sounds, because this requires your tongue to move to shape them.

Picture your self as an big opera singer making a big sound from deep inside you, that wells up and flows out without the neck and head having to work. Have fun with this image and the sounds you make, but keep the upper body relaxed.

How can you sing better?

If your reading this it'll be because you like singing and want to improve, right? Well the first thing is beleiving in yourself. You MUST be comfortable singing in front of people, or you will never improve. Try singing in front of one close friend first, then four people, then about 10 people, then maybe your whole class/form, then try out for the school talent show and that'll be the whole school...see where I'm going? Build up your confidence! Now I can explain a few tips.

1.) DON'T Imagine the audience naked. Trust me. It makes you laugh.

2.) BREATHE! We breathe all the time, but in singing you have to THINK ABOUT BREATHING. If a line is quite long then you will run out of breath, so take a big breath before the line.

3.) High notes are hard, but some people find it helps to raise their eyebrows in a high note. For me it works!

4.) Take a drink of cold water before a song, cleans the throat.

5.) Don't be afraid to belt out the big notes. Nothing worse than that whispery, gaspy sound people make when they're too afraid to belt a note out!

Hope this helped!

P.S To find out what people really think of your voice, upload videos of you singing to YouTube! :)

Who formed New Editions singing group?

New Edition was formed in 1978 it was Bobby Brown's idea as he asked Ricky Bell & Michael Bivins his childhood friends to sing in a group with him. They had other friends Travis Pettus & a guy Giavani MacLamore but he wasn't there that long at all and sadly passed away. They got another guy Corey Rackley & auditioned for local choreographer & group manager Brooke Payne at his home in Boston. He agreed to groom and work with them along with his younger cousin Travis Gresham. Rackley would then leave the group & they adeed Ralph Tresvant who also sang with Ricky Bell in a duo called Double R Connection also managed by Gresham, So Bell suggested Tresvant join his other group New Edition which Mike, Bobby, & Travis happily accepted. But not long after Ralph joined Travis Pettus would leave the group as well to focus on basketball which is how the group all originally came together at the Orchard Park Boys & Girls YMCA in their neighborhood. After several talent shows Maurice Starr discovered them in 1982 at the Hollywood Talent Night in Boston & although they won 2nd place he agreed to work with them then Payne & Starr suggested they bring in a 5th member so Brooke Payne brought his nephew Ronnie DeVoe into the gruop. DeVoe grew up in another housing project in Roxbury called Cathedral Projects while the other members were in Orchard Park. He quickly became the best of friends with the rest of the guys and was happy to be with New Edition after his previous group The Dramatics also managed by Brooke Payne did not go anywhere
