What kind or rear differential oil goes in an 88 suzuki samurai?
I believe it is standard GL-5 90W available at Walmart.
Where do you fill the gear box up on a suzuki samurai?
Since the subject vehicle is probably a 4x4 there are two 'gear box' possibilities.
If you mean Transmission, there is a right side plug that can be removed (from under the vehicle) with a 3/8 square drive.
If you mean Transfer case, there is a fill plug and a level plug, remove both of these, one with 3/8 square drive and one a 10mm wrench. Pour in gear oil (from under the vehicle) into the fill plug until it comes out the level plug and then cap both.

take the car to auto zone or a parts place that will check your computer codes for free because at least one of those codes is active and causing the light to stay on. they should be able to tell you the code and its meaning so that will bring you closer to fixing it.
What would keep a Suzuki Samurai from activating the starter relay with the key?
There is a common problem with the Suzuki Samurai wiring in the starter circuit. Called the Clicky-Starter problem :-) it is easily corrected by installing a Clicky-Starter kit:-) which is nothing more than a relay, a circuit breaker, and wire connected through the relay directly to the starter. Inexpensive kits are available through eBay or any of the many Samurai parts sources, or you can easily make the corrections yourself with discreet components. I recommend you visit ZukiKrawlers.com for more detailed information!
most likely your U joints on the drive shaft are worn
Why does Suzuki Samurai slow down on hills?
Try downshifting Down shifting will help but the reason it helps is because the Samurai is a low power engine. Brand new from the factory my '86 1.3 liter is 66 horsepower.
That is less that some motorcycles and maybe even a few golf carts... Ha! Seriously is is a lot of metal powered by a small engine so the weight to Horsepower ratio is low.
OK, 1st off I can't give you a definitive answer...but I worked on older Samurai's A LOT, and they and early Geo Trackers and Sidekicks) had a lot of similarities... Short story: Lots of owners of earlier Samurai's converted them to fuel injection using parts from newer Samurai's...or converted them to 1600 cc setups using 8-valve Geo Tracker or Suzuki Sidekick engines. So having a newer Samurai setup and using an older block would be about the same thing, just into a newer rather than older chassis when you're done. There were 2 different 'short blocks' used in Suzuki Samurai's. One ended in letter 'a' the other letter 'b', and I think there was a VERY small difference in displacement...like the earlier one was about 1300 cc and the newer one around 1297 cc I think. But they were interchangable...I remember the 1st time I got a replacement engine for my 86 I was told by the machine shop that all the short blocks were essentially interchangable. Even new replacement pistons were the same for either block (or for that matter, for the 8 valve 1600 cc engines for trackers as well.) Hope this helps. Hope this helps. Clarification to my earlier remarks: They were related to a 'short block' not a 'long block'. The cylinder heads did change over the years between carburated versions and fuel injected versions, mainly by no longer having an eccentric off the back of the camshaft to drive a pin that went through a hole in the rear passenger side of the head to drive the mechanical fuel pump. Since fuel injected models do not use a mechanical fuel pump, this was no longer needed. You might still be able to use an older cylinder head on a newer engine, even if the newer engine is fuel injected, by removing the pin and blocking off the no-longer-needed fuel pump port. I think all Samurai's used 8 valve engines, unlike Geo Trackers and Suzuki Sidekicks that eventually went over to 4 valve per cylinder, 16 valve totals. An 8 valve cylinder head will NOT work on a 16 valve intake/exhaust port setup...
How do you turn off the check engine light on a 2002 Toyota rav 4?
After my 2001 Rav 4's engine light was on for two years(...yes, after changing two $150-$200 sensors, 5 failed imspections, $250.00 fine for not passing inspection which lead to not being able to renew registration, 6 tickets for no current inspection/registration), Toyota finally sent me letter to say there was a recall on the check engine light. It took them approximately 30 ,imutes to fix the problem after two years of lost time and money...not to mention my driving record credibility (yes, the police can be nasty and give you a ticket more than once the same problem, even if you have a ticket in your hand frrom the same week...speaking from experience!)
Any tricks to towing a '88 Suzuki Samurai 4x4?
Put the transfer case into neutral and the main box into fourth. Release handbrake.
Where is the VIN on a Suzuki samurai?
It is on the drivers side dash just as you open door its by the window defrost vent:)
If you put the sami in low range and the gears are working in low (IE: The front drive shaft is turning) Then the problem is the HUBS.
I had this problem and the prior owner had assembled the hubs incorrectly which prevented the hub or hubs from locking. Specifically, the spring was not in between the selector twist knob and the lock-in ring, it was between the lock ring and the inside of the hub.
Remember BOTH must be lock for the front wheels to be driven.
This is an easy fix, just pull out the hubs, clean them up and reassemble correctly.
In going a step uphill my car sometimes loss power specially on lower gear what's the cause?
If your car has a carburetor it is probly due to flooding. Some carbs are worse than others. There isn't much you can do except keep the RPM's' up to try to use the extra fuel.
How can you fix the door latch from malfunctioning on a suzuki samurai?
You can prevent it from breaking By spraying all the moving parts with wd40 periodacly that will keep parts from getting stuck which causes handle to break instead of buying a new handle when mine broke I drilled a small hole through the two broken pieces and screwed a screw through the hole to attach the pieces back together it worked great.
What is the square footage of a Suzuki Samurai hard top?
Since this question asks Square footage (not Cubic footage) I am assuming that the question is directed at the entire vehicle and not just the hardtop itself:
The Exterior measurements are:
Length: 135.0"
Width: 60.6"
Therefore the Square Footage is:
135(60.6)= 8181 Square Inches or 681.75 Square Feet.
well that should happen to all standard transmissions. you let out on the clutch, then the clutch grips against the flywheel, and stops. the same should happen if you are at a dead stop and dump the clutch. try it in neutral
What is the torque specs for the pressure plate on a suzuki samurai?
Pressure plate to flywheel torque is (ft lbs) 14 to 20.
What type of oil does a 1987 Suzuki samurai use?
Depends on temp. you drive in. In moderate temp. 20-120 F, 10-30w is the norm. I would definitely consider synthetic as it last longer and makes this type of engine run a lot smoother. Also upgrading the oil filter to a performance will make the oil stay cleaner longer. Better oil, better oil filter equals smoother acceleration, higher Red line, and longer engine life.
How do you increase horsepower for a 1.3 liter Suzuki Samurai?
