How do you remove the starter from a 93 Toyota Corolla?

[For 1992-1997 Corolla, Chevy Geo Prism] Disconnect battery ground. Remove air filter cover and big rubber thing that connects to the throttle body. Disconnect wires from old starter. Remove bolts. They face in opposite directions from each other. Installation is reverse of removal.

Try not to break anything.

[Old : Applies only to 1998 and later Corolla) You're gonna have to lift up the car. Well, you're gonna have to come up at it from underneath unless you wanna take the intake manifold off. You don't wanna do that. After you've got the car up, the starter's directly underneath the throttle body. Remember to disconnect the battery ground before you start so you don't shock yourself because that hurts. Other than that it's only a matter of a couple of bolts and the wires.

The biggest problem with changing Corolla starters...is getting them out of the car. Unbolting them is no real problem, except that the top bolt is on the transmission side and you've got to pull the air cleaner box to get to it. If you weave the starter around through all of the stuff behind the engine, the path to "out" will take you right past the power steering pump.

I just changed my starter and when taking it out, I could NOT get it past the power steering pump as stated above. However, simply point the skinny end of the starter down between the drive axle and the front frame member and with a few twists and turns it will drop to the ground. Putting the new starter back in is even easier, just point it back up where you came out. You will need a ratchet with 14MM and 12MM sockets, and a straight-blade screwdriver. The whole R&R process took me less than 45 minutes. I had a friend help me which is always handy (and more fun) but this not necessary to get the job done.

What does it mean when your airbag light comes on on your Toyota Corolla?

It means it needs to be serviced at the dealer. The integrity of this device is now questionable and probably will not protect you adequately in a crash where the airbag gets deployed.

How do you change and time the timing belt of a 94 Toyota Corolla?

i did this not to long ago.i need to replace my water pump and decide might as well to all my belts to.go pick a chiltons book on the corolla and it will get you through it.the only thing i have to say is get the right timing marks.there are a bunch of "marks" that can have guessing.study the picture found in book.with me as a beginer on work on cars it took me about 6-8 hours to do the pump and all belts.

how to set timing- A dot camshaft sproket line up with a cut mark on camshaft bearing cap at about 11 O'clock (you have to take out the camshaft sproket or look through the hole closely to see the cut mark on camshaft bearing cap) and on the on crank pully also have a cut mark line up with the "0" on the timing belt cover. (at about 1 O'clock).....

What can you do for a leak in your 2001 T1.8 Passat rack and pinion if repair is not possible and replacement is very costly?

It depends on the location of the leak. Commonly the feed hoses from the reservoir to the power steering pump will leak, the fix is to just replace the clamps.

Toyota corolla 1996 low beam on left side out high beams work on both?

When bulbs on a Toyota Corolla are working but one is not, it is usually a burnt out bulb. You can change this yourself.

Ignition clicks but engine doesn't turn over on 1989 Corolla which is more likely starter or starter solenoid?

the starter, the starter solenoid only supplies power to the starter.. if accessable try to tap on the starter with a hammer with moderate force this will some times cause the internal workings to rotate slightly allowing the starter to turn over.. This also sounds like a dead battery. Usually when your battery dies, all the more your hearing is your Solenoid clicking. If this is not the case, follow the directions above, i strongly agree. BUT.. it could also be a faulty solenoid, it will click, but will not push any power to the starter. If this continues, i would replace the solenoid first, being that it's more probable, and less expensive. If it actually is the starter, oh well.. you spent like 20.00 on a new solenoid (if even that much), and you know it will not go out on you in the future. You may also want to check your power cable leading to the starter to make sure there is no short(s) on it due to insulation being melted off or whatever.

How do you replace an ignition key cylinder on a 1995 Toyota Camry?

Start by removing the lower cowl shield from the steering column.

(this is done by turning the steering wheel about 45 degrees left and right and removing the exposed screws)

Then turn the key to the "acc" position

Look under the cylinder mount and locate the small hole

When the key is in that position you can use a short(3" or so) piece of coat hanger to push in the detent through that hole, while doing so grasp the key and slide out the whole cylinder, key and all.

How do you turn off the lights at night on a 1998 camaro without turning off the engine?

you can turn them off by disabling the automatic lights which is done by cutting the wire should be a grey wire on the back of the switch itself but i'd get a diagram to find out which color wire is the right one instead of cutting the wire you can you can pull the emergency brake one click and light up the brake light in the cluster the lights will turn off.

How do you tune up a Toyota Corolla 2002?

A 2002 Corolla with the 1.8 liter 1ZZ FE does not really need a 'tune up" in the old term meaning. It has coil packs, so you don't set ignition timing, that is controlled by the CPS, both of them, Camshaft Position Sensor and Crankshaft Position Sensor, via the ECU. a service or tune up would consist of spark plugs if you have at least 80,000 to 100,000 miles on the factory Denso iridium spark plugs. Engine Air filter, cabin air filter, (not absolutely mandatory for cabin air filter if you are on a tight budget) Check all fluids, transnission/engine/power steering/brake master cylinder, 02 sensors if needed, rotate tires, inspect serpentine belt for signs of age; frayed edges or cracks, replace belt if it does show those signs, or if it has about 80,000 miles on it change it anyway. Make sure belt tension and tensioner is good. Inspect all four corners of brakes, replace pads and/or shoes if needed, and new brake rotors on front if one has deep grooves from wear and going too far on worn pads. Do not replace only one rotor, do both (I know, easy for me to say it's your mooney), if it needs coolant make sure to use the Toyota blend of Ethelyene Glycol. Make sure the battery terminals are free of corrision and tight, test battery if it is more than 3 or4 years old, test alternator, needs to be putting out 12.5 to 13.5 volts at idle, An alternator tester can put a load on it to be sure it produces at least 80 amps at idle and 100 @ 1500rpm. If it is not up to that, it's ok to drive but is getting weak. Transmission fluid should be a nice red/pink color. If it looks dirty or has a distinct 'burnt' odor, drain and fill but do not flush the transmision.

Inspect CV joint boots, replace if cracked or look deteriorated. And of course a regular oil change and use a quality filter. cheap filters not only filter less, but restrict oil flow. Do not use a filter with a cardboard filter medium, they call it cellulose. It's just paper/cardboard.

How does carburetor works?

A carburetor mixes air and fuel in appropriate proportions. Air and Liquid fuel are the inputs to the carburetor at different points of the carburetor.

Due to suction created by the working engine , atmosperic Air is accelerated through the venturi in the carburetor.

Accelerating Air sucks Fuel into the venturi at its center from a level regulated liquid fuel pot in the carburetor, due to the venturi action. (Bernoulli's Principle)

During the process of sucking the fuel is atomised /becomes a mist , as it enters the venturi. The atomised fuel then evaporates and mixes with the air uniformly.

This uniform gaseous mixture of fuel and air is the out put of the carburetor.

This gaseous mixture then enters into engine cylinders for combustion.

How do you relieve the caliper pressure on a 1990 Toyota Corolla?

I have not worked on a Toyota Corolla brakes, but have with many others.

First remove your master cylinder resivoir cap under hood where the brake fluid is added. This way a extra fluid you move through the cylinder has a place to go, you may want to place a few rags under your brake resivoir to prevent fluild from spilling all over.

The Purpose of doing what I am trying to explain below is to keep air out of your brake system. However even with this procedure you may still have to bleed (remove air) from your brake system.

If caliper is still on rotor, take a clear plastic tube a glass jar and clean brake fluid. Add some brake fluid to to the container place one end of plastic tube into container and now get the right size wrench (or carefully with a crescent wrench)to attach to the brake caliper bleeded screw on the caliper (should look like a grease zert fitting). So attach the wrench then the plastic hose over the front of the fitting. Have someone slowly depress the brake pedal while you loosen the bleed screw, brake fluild should be released through the fitting into the tub and jar BEFORE the brake pedal is released retighten the screw so air does not enter your break system.

If you do not care about the air in your brake sysyem then just loosen the bleed screw and grab hold of your rotor moving back and fourth until it comes off the rotor.

Once off the rotor you can carefully use a c-clamp or pry leverage to push the caliper cyclender back in.
