Tubal Ligation

I had a c- section 13 years ago along with that I had my tubes tied. Iam now real sexually active.I have missed my period and its now going on the second month now and Iam just wondering if iam pregant and can i carry a child to full term.

Although natural pregnancy could occur it is very slim. If it does happen naturally there is a very good chance that it would be ectopic.

The most natural way to have a child after having a tubal ligation is with tubal ligation reversal. Surprising to many is the fact the tubal reversal has a better pregnancy rate than the alternative treatment of IVF. Not only does tubal ligation reversal have a better success rate it is more natural and less expensive than the alternative.

Only by a abdominal scan and tests. I doubt if you could tell if a tubal ligation is still intact with an ultrasound. The only way I am aware you could tell for sure would be with a laparoscopy or a hyysterosalpingogram (a test where dye is injected into the uterus and tubes and then an X-Ray is taken). Unless you have gotten pregnant, why would you suspect the tubal ligation is no longer effective?

No they will not cover a reversal, but will cover another ligation if you have a reversal done. Tricky there they want you to not be able to have more kids, so they dont end up paying for them.

No way out to the world for the egg. So it has to be in the tube which is knotted and disintegrate there. How animals eggs are treated by nature for example cow.

Cow also has ovaries. Does it send out monthly? What happened to menstrual fluid for cow? I read as absorbed by itself. Now ovaries have no escape and so are disintegrating in the FT, and perhaps absorbed. But menstruation in women is preparation of the uterus wall to implant the zygote (fertilized egg that is fertilized elsewhere on its way out) and allow baby development. Yes. It is very possible to still get pregnant after having your tubes tied. But sadly most of the pregnancies do not carry through because they do end up being "Tube" pregnancies which can be very harmful for the woman.

There is about a 1 chance in 500,000 of you becomming pregnant after having a Tubal performed. There has been some extreme rare cases of Women conceiving after having a Tubal and I believe they experienced normal pregnancy symptoms or abdominal pain. You will need to see your doctor for a blood test to be certain if you have conceived or not.

But there is no chance of conception UNLESS the Tubal failed.

Periods can be missed for a variety of reasons besides pregnancy. Some women just have irregular periods. Extreme stress can cause periods to temporarily stop. Women who have very low body fat like ballerinas often stop menstruating. Female athletes, especially those who rigorously train for long-distance events like triathlons or marathons often stop menstruating. Menopause or peri-menopause can begin as early as your 20s and cause light or missed periods. Either way, if your periods have been regular in the past and now you've missed three, I would see an ob/gyn.

if you still qualify financially yes whether you have your tubes tied or not does not make a difference.

In Canada the tubal ligation is covered by Health Care. I live in Alberta and I had mine done January 2005 and it was completely covered. The age is left to the discretion of the doctor providing the tubal. My doctor said as soon as you turn 18 you can have it done, but another doctor said after 25 years of age. Good Luck

It's really mis-named; it's the deliberate severing and scarring of the fallopian tubes to prevent the fertilization of eggs. To say they are tied sort of infers that they can be un-tied, but it just ain't so.

Yes you can! I just started taking it, I have had my tubes tied since I was 24 yrs. old. I have really awful periods, and when I am not on my period my breast hurt nonstop! I was down to two options, having already had the nova sure procedure which didn't work for me, actually made it worse.. Anyway, I started the shot Oct. 5th of this year and after the first two weeks, I suddenly realized my breast didn't hurt anymore, or weren't knotty anymore and the period part I don't really know yet, hasn't been long enough, spotted some off and on but they said I probably would. But anyway, hopefully it's gonna help, because my other option was hysterectomy!! I really don't want to do that if I can help it. That is major! Anyway, good luck, hope you get this! Michelle

No, that doesn't sound like pregnancy, but that doesn't sound like a good thing. See a doctor right away, this could be something serious. My mom never had her tubes tied but she started having her periods 2-3 times a month, then had it for 3 months straight, she had tumors, clots all kinds of stuff all over her uterus... PLEASE go get checked.

Pregnancy after tubal ligation is very rare. Tubal ligation has less than a 2% failure rate and even if you do get pregnant without reversal surgery you are more likely to have an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is very dangerous and you should see a Dr immediately if you feel that you may be pregnant.

its not commen but women have been known to get pregnant in there tubes. this is called a tuble pregnancy.if you do get pregnant in your tubes you would have to go to the hospital and they will have to untie the tubes and inplant the baby in the uterus. if you don't get help and get the baby moved into the uterus the baby will continue to stay in the tubes and die while there and you will end up miscarring and have surgery to remove. in some cases the mother dies from excess blood loss from tuble pregnancy if the matter is not taken care of quickly.

I am 44 years old and had my tubes cut, burned and tied, My youngest son is 17yrs old and 2 months ago I had a bladder infection and they gave me a strong dose of amoxicillin to clear it up. I got my period last month, but since that my breast are sore, I am very emotional- will cry a the drop of a dime and I have back cramps nausea like you would not believe I did take a prego test but that was two weeks before my period is due. Could I be pregnant? Or let it go because the test said no

Ironically, the Walmart cheapies -- Equate brand. It identified my pregnancy four days before my period was due. (A faint line, but definitely a line.)

This is because the egg is only physically barred from getting through. The uterine lining still thickens and builds up during the cycle as no-one told it there was no point! Your hormones still function in the same way, producing and releasing the egg, and building the womb's lining. The period still has the function of cleaning out this thickened lining each month.
