Are US 2 dollar bills rare?

Uncommon, yes. Rare, no.

They don't show up in change very often because for various historical and cultural reasons many Americans don't like to use $2 bills. The Treasury only prints as many as are needed to meet demand. In fact, when they make a print run several tens of millions of $2 bills are issued but that number is low by comparison to the hundreds of millions or billions of other denominations printed.

Any bills you find in circulation dated 1976 or later are only worth face value. Even older $2 bills (1953 and 1963) don't carry much of a premium for collectors unless the bills are crisp and uncirculated.

Added: It is said that the primary reason that they are uncommon in general circulation is that cash register drawers are not configured with a separate compartment to handle them, and automatic vending machines are not programmed to accept them.

What is the value of a five dollar gold certificate bill?

I'm almost sure it would be in a ballpark figure of $70.00 and $85.00. I said almost. You can call the Federal Reserve Bank for a more accurate amount.

No, you can call a coin dealer or check the Blackbook of US Paper Money. The Federal Reserve does not deal in collectibles. To them it is worth $5.

CorrectionThe US never issued $5 gold certificates. The closest listing I can find is for a National Gold Bank Note printed in the 1870s. These are extremely rare so they're not likely to turn up in the average collector's hands.

Why is Abraham Lincoln's hair parted on the left in The Lincoln Memorial and on the right on the 5 bill?

As I understand it, Lincoln was having several photographs made in a studio, in several different poses, and an assistant to the photographer mistakenly combed/recombed Lincoln's hair with the part on the right, rather than on the left, as he normally wore it.

As luck would have it, the artist who created the portrait for the Lincoln penny, in 1909, Victor David Brenner, used the photograph that had the part on the wrong side. (I believe I read this in Carl Sandburg's biography of Lincoln, though I would not swear to it...) Apparently, whoever designed the five dollar bill messed up...

What is the value of a 1950 US 20 dollar bill that does not say 'In God We Trust'?

The motto In God We Trust did not start to be printed on bills until the late 1950s and early 1960s, so the fact that your bill is missing those words is not an error.

Can you tell me about the green ink used in U.S. currency?

There is a Bureau of Engraving and Printing web page that discusses the inks used to print U.S. currency:

Is John Hanson on the two dollar bill?

No, he is not.

The obverse of the $2 bill is based on a John Trumbull painting which shows the signing of the Declaration of Independence. John Hanson was not present for that event- he happened to be away in Maryland helping run the government there. Thus, he was not depicted in the painting, nor is he on the back of the $2 bill.

The front of the bill only shows Thomas Jefferson.

What is the value of a 10 dollar Federal Reserve note with a blue seal and photo of Andrew Jackson?

To clear things up, the image is an engraving rather than a photo. Photographs aren't used on US banknotes and in any case Jackson was a very old man when portrait photography first became practical.

The bill you describe is almost certainly from the 1914 series; please see the question "What is the value of a 1914 US 10 dollar Federal Reserve Note?" for more information.

What presidents face is on the US 10 dollar bill?

Whose signature appears on U.S. currency?

U.S. currency bears the signatures of the Treasury Secretary and United States Treasurer who were in office at the time the bills were printed.

Current practice is to change the date only when a new Secretary is appointed, and to put a small letter next to the date when a new Treasurer is appointed. The date does NOT refer to the actual printing date but instead to the year that the Secretary took office.

Where would you redeem a series 1934 US fifty dollar bill?

You'd have to take it to a dealer or to one of those travelling shows where they buy old currency. Get a couple of estimates before selling.

Because 50s didn't circulate much back in those days (they had the purchasing power of several hundred dollars today) there are still a lot of 1934 notes available in reasonably decent condition, so you shouldn't expect to get more than about $55-60 for it, unless it's like new, crisp and unfolded. In any case it'll never be worth less than 50 bucks.

Who is Franklin on the US 100 dollar bill?

A check of nearly history of the American Revolution will give you a wealth of information about Benjamin Franklin, one of the most important people in the new nation's birth.

Franklin's life was so active and varied that it's almost impossible to sum up in a short wiki-answer. Among other things he was an inventor (the lightning rod, bifocal glasses, musical instruments, etc.), a writer and philosopher, a scientist (he named and charted the Gulf Stream), a civic leader (postmaster for the colonies, creator of the first municipal fire department, governor of Pennsylvania) and most of all, a statesman and diplomat. He promoted the colonies' cause in England, and on his return to America was involved with other leaders in the independence movement (although his efforts were limited because of health problems). Following independence and the failure of the Articles of Confederation he was one of the leaders of the Constitutional Convention that established the US as a republic.

What is the highest break in snooker ever made?

AnswerThe highest snooker break possible without the benefit of an opponent's foul is 147 (15 reds, 15 blacks and then the six colours). This is known as a maximum break. It is also regularly known as simply a 'One-Four-Seven'.

The highest snooker break possible with the benefit of an opponent's foul is 155 (1 free ball, 1 Black, 15 reds, 15 blacks and then the six colours).

Ronnie O'Sullivan holds the record for the most maximums in official competition, having made ten. The first televised 147 was by Steve Davis. The youngest televised 147-breaker is Ding Junhui who at the time was 19 years old. Ding broke the record in the Masters Tournament 2007. The record for a single session is held by Adrian Gunnell who made three 147 breaks in four frames during a practice session in Telford in 2003. On 13 March 2007, Ronnie O'Sullivan made two maximum breaks against local players during an exhibition match in Cornwall. Peter Ebdon made maximum breaks in consecutive frames during an exhibition match in Bournemouth against Steve Davis in 2000. Ken Doherty is so far the only player to have had a televised final black miss on a 147 attempt, at the 2000 Masters final.

At least three breaks in excess of 147 have been recorded. A 149 by Tony Drago in West Norwood, UK in 1998 is recorded by the Guinness Book of Records as the highest. In that match Drago was foul snookered and chose the brown as the free ball, to score one point. He then potted the brown again, for four more points, before potting 13 reds and 13 blacks, a red and a pink, a red and a blue, then all the colours. In October 2004, during qualifying for the UK Championship, Jamie Burnett achieved a 148 against Leo Fernandez, becoming the first player to achieve a break of more than 147 in a professional match.

Wally West was reported to have made a 151 break in the final of a club competition in Hounslow in 1976. Jamie Cope was reported to have made a break of 155 in a practice frame during 2005.
