On a 1992 Volvo 240 the parking lights won't turn off. Light switch position makes no difference. In fact unplugging the light switch makes no difference. Any suggestions?

I would assume that there is a relay for the parking lights. It sounds like the relay has frozen with the contacts closed. Replacing this relay should solve the problem.

Does a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado have a brake-light relay and if so where is it located?

I have a 1995 Chevrolet K1500 Extended cab Silverado and I can tell you that I've been having heck with that problem. Yes, it does have a relay and it is located in the fuse box under the hood on the driver side. If you're looking at it from the front of the truck it will be the black relay box on the left hand side of the fuse box. Should be just fuse and switch

Where is the fuel pump in a 1989 Volvo 240?

It's probably located in the gas tank. Surprise surprise! Mom's car started sputtering/cutting out. Checked the obvious fuel pump/filter assembly under the carriage. It worked fine. Changed the filter, added lots of glycol. Ran fine for about 2 weeks, then started the same problem again. Lo and behold--there are TWO fuel pumps. The Hayes and Chilton manuals have hit and miss accuracy. One pump on the undercarriage, the other under the back cushion on the wagon. We dropped the whole tank to knock the screw- in loose (supposed to use brass--no sparks!). A spanner wrench would have made it easier/could have done it without dropping the tank. Two fuel pumps? Crazy. BTW, hers was an '89 240DL.

My 1990 Volvo 240 overheats when the ac is on whats wrong?

Engine overheats When a car or truck overheats idling, in town, on the highway, while towing, etc. it is important to find out the reason to prevent engine damage. First, with the engine cold, make sure the radiator is full of coolant; if it is low, fill it and keep the radiator cap off while the engine idles to insure all air is bled out of the system. Check the coolant level daily; if the coolant goes down without visible leaks, it may be a head gasket starting to leak which will also cause the heater to blow cold air due to the lack of available coolant. If the coolant stays full, but the car continues to overheat, the next step is to replace the thermostat in the engine and flush the cooling system if that has not been done over the last few years.Buy a thermostat at a parts store and a PRESTONE flush kit which has excellent directions on the package. After completing these steps and the vehicle still overheats, have your cooling fan sensor/switch ( if equipped)checked out to insure it is coming on. Water pumps are seldom the cause as they are mechanical and will continue to work until their bearings give out. Finally, the radiator itself is often the problem as it tends to build up corrosion internally which prevents it from transfering engine heat to the coolant. Remove it and have it 're-cored'. One of these steps will solve the problem.

The switch is under the center console, screws are on the sides, at the base of the shifter handle. Try using CNC Contact cleaner and adjusting the switch position before replacing.

92 Volvo 240 service light?

It's just a mileage-based reminder that comes on every 5000 miles. To reset it, press the button in the lower right corner of the instrument panel. Some have a rubber plug which will have to be removed first.

The earlier cars have no button but a lever on the back of the odometer which clicks upward and then springs back into place.

I have a 1990 Volvo 240 dl fault codes 2-3-2 and 1-1-3 from socket 2 and 1-1-1 from socket 6 and how do you clear them?

Hi,

2-3-2 (if rich) means most likely a leaky fuel injector.

1-1-3 means it's too rich or lean at idle (upper limits of what it can compensate for).

To clear codes, after reading the codes, hold in the button for about 7-10 seconds.

Then wait, you will now se a continuous light.

Then again, hold for 7-10 seconds.

When this is done, try to again read codes (hold for max. 3 seconds).

It should now say 1-1-1 (meaning no faults).

Another way to clear them, is to remove the battery for about 15 minutes.

How do you fix a 1997 CR-V rear passenger door lock that does not lock with the other locks?

Common problem with Crv's. You will have to remove the door panel by removing handle screws and then screws which hold the door handle. Remove the panel by using a screwdriver. Once removed take off the plastic and spray nut looser on the inside of the door when the lock parts are. Use the automatic lock button to open and close. It may take awhile but it will free itself.
