If there is a rear wiper on 2001+ V70s, it is a special volvo-only wiper blade and you have to go to the dealer to purchase it. Ask for instructions with the wiper blade.

I have a 1998 Volvo v70 t5 and i get about 31 on the highway and about 20 in town.

There are two standard threshold conditions for changing the timing belt (1) age of the belt - 10 years or more or (2) useage of the belt in terms of miles ~ 90k if under 10 years.

The fluid for most automatic transmissions and in some cases manual transmissions recommend a fluid exchange of at least every 30,000 miles.

You must get the key made at the dealer. There is no way around it.

This is not going to be easy, I went through this fiasco and am very angry about it.

First you must order the key from the dealer and wait for the part to arrive from Sweden, the key has to be specially cut for your vehicle using the VIN#. You must bring proof of ownership, just hope its not locked in the car. Pay the parts department $80 up front for the key and wait 1 week or more for it. Now that your key has arrived you are getting closer. This key will open the door but will not start the car.

Now you have to make an appointment with the dealers service department to have the key programmed to start your car. You must bring the car to the dealer to do this, in most cases this means towing the car to the dealer which can be quite expensive and a major hassle. Now you will pay another $160 for the technicians time to program the key and they have the audacity to also charge you for the CD and software to do this, apparently they charge each and every customer for the software they use to program the key, and they refuse give you the software CD you bought for $75, god forbid they have to re-sell it again to the next sucker that lost his key.

If you also have a key fob for the alarm system to lock and unlock the doors, you can double all the prices I listed, they charge extra for that again. And if that's not enough of a rip-off when you finally get the bill you will notice a $6 extra charge they hit everyone for the OIL, GREASE and SHOP-RAGS they never used while programming your key just to make sure you leave pissed off. grumble how expensive it is, and they'll assure you its a good thing you don't have a new Volvo, since those keys are over $400 each.

Get the proper fuel line adapter and attach it to the end of the fuel rail. Attach a hose and start the engine and let the car run itself out of gas. Engine won't run? Get a wiring diagram and make a pair of jumper wires up. Remove the fuel pump relay and install the jumpers per the diagram. Turn the switch on and the pump will start running. If you have a bad fuel pump draining the tank is not needed as the access hole in the floor pan above the tank will allow you to change the pump with the tank in the car.

The battery is found under the boot floor, next to the spare tyre. Remove the two nuts and the one bolt from the securing bracket with a 13mm socket, remove bracket and then lift off the plastic cover. Remove negative connector first with a 10mm, then positive, again with 10mm. Remove the pipe that attaches to the side of the battery.

Then undo the plate securing the bottom of the battery to the floor of the car. Takes a 12mm socket to remove this and then you can lift the battery out. Install in reverse making sure you attach the positive first.

depending on your model of garage door, ther is usually an orange or red button on the side of the garage door motor as is mine a liftmaster security + model. you hold this button till its indicator light starts blinking then you have fifteen seconds to get to your homelink visor and choose 1 2 or 3 and push and hold till the door responds.

I am really sorry for anyone who this happened to and searches for a little light of hope. It is the rule that once the timing belt snaps, the engine is demolished for good. In most cases the cost of repair is way higher than the price of the entire vehicle, except for relatively new expesive cars, which, naturaly, have new timing belts, so it doesnt happen. So if the timing belt broke, no matter when and how, you will either need to replace the engine with a used one to keep the costs low, or give the car up as a totaled wreck. Sad but its the reality. It happened to me a couple years ago with a relatively new Audi A8 with huge mileage (about 200,000). The cost of the repair would be around $10,000+. And that car retailed at that time at 35,000 used.

Zhorns 98 Volvo S70 glt (turbo) I lost a timing belt after the tensioner fell apart, belt popped off. (148k on car, 15 k on timing belt, if ever asked if you want to replace the tensioner say YES) Was on startup when it happened (the belt popping off) We hauled the car home, I rolled up my sleeves and went to work. removed the head and brought it to a machine shop, checked the pistons, no sign of damage, in fact at 148k there was still the original crosshatching on the cylinder walls.. three sets of valves (that's 12 out of 20) had to be replaced, guides were fine, put in a new water pump, crank seal etc while I was in there, new cam seals got it all back together and it purred like a kitten, no more blue smoke at lights (answered the question as to whether it was valve seals or turbo) all together including $600 for the machine shop work, gaskets, water pump, timing belt,tensioner, new tensioner for the accessory belt, new accessory belt just under $1000. I ran the car until 2 weeks ago when my son (bless his heart) lost it on a snowy road, took out a telephone pole but walked out without a scratch (Now it is totaled) but it had 210k on it and was going strong. After the rebuild had 190 lbs compression straight across.

So.. head rebuild, not the end of the world, certainly not the end of a Volvo..

I had a similar situation with a timing belt break on a five year old V70 D5. Volvo want to charge me to assess it. They wont supply the parts to my garage. They want to supply the full head at great cost. I have no legal redress eventhough the part failed 20000 miles before it should have. Anyone who is considering a newish Volvo should beware and think twice

Press the shift lock override button next to the shifter. Make sure you push it as far down as you can.

i have volvo v70 2001 she has abs lights come one for the last six weeks now my car wont start at all can the abs cause some think like that.

The connector has a metal clip on it. You need to depress the metal clip and remove the connector at the same time by wiggling the connector. You will need to use a screwdriver to depress the metal clip. It is tight in there so you may have to push a few wire protectors out of the way. Once you have the connector off you will need to rotate the bulb housing clockwise. I have only have replaced the passenger side so I can not say for sure about the drivers side housing rotation. I exerted a slight clockwise pressure on the protruding connector, with a screwdriver, and it rotates less than 1/4 turn. Remove the bulb and housing, change the bulb. Check bulb then assemble in reverse order. This can save you $20-$30.

Not sure about manually but I used my key on driver side door and unlocked twice. Turn the key twice and you will hear it unlock. This popped the lock on the tailgate. When in doubt, always go to the drivers door!

Volvo dealership. Have fun with that... if you've never taken off a Volvo starter, you could be in for a lot of excitement.

the 4308 code is for a evap system leak. this could be caused by many different components including the filler neck, evap lines, evap purge valve, vent control valve or even a loose or bad gas cap.

Unfortunately you will have to take it to the garage to be reset. As far as I am aware there is no simple method, like turning the ignition on and off whilst holding the odometer button, as on previous models off the V70.

This is a very common problem in the early AWD models. My 1999 V70 XC AWD had the Prop (Drive) Shaft removed after a sound like hitting a wrench against a metal pipe got so loud I had to get the problem diagnosed. The two CV joints at each end of the shaft plus the centre bearing had all perished.

You can remove the shaft (1 hour labour max) and drive the car perfectly safely and well as a front wheel drive but if like me you really need the snowcat effect of All Wheel Drive then either a new one from Volvo costing upwards of 850 Pounds in the or find a driveshaft company to rebuild your old one. Can be tricky but mine was done for half the price of new. In the US Colorado Driveshaft have a good reputation for this as do Driveshaft UK in England who did mine.

The fuse box can be found in the engine compartment. The fuse box is located on the drivers side of the engine compartment.

you must use an ODB-2 code reader/ code eraser. You first should read the code or codes and write them down. These tell you what is wrong with the car. (such as code p0401, which is the common air pump failure code)You can get a cheapo reader/clearer at harbor freight for about $25 or a decent one for about $75-100.

Open the hood and you'll find it in the back, right behind the steering wheel. You'll have to remove the protective covering. Also, you can get at the other end of the fuse assembly by removing the part of the interior dash above the driver's legs.

open the rear hatch, It is located on the driver side under the deck/ next to the spare.

there is a post in the engine compartment for jumpstart or charging on the driver side.

6.1 qts and i said wow when i had my first oil change! Said it also when i saw the paper filter also! weird stuff but hey when u can drive an American car for 300,000 miles i would go back to driving American again!
