Remove the old filter. Apply oil to the gasket on the new one. Tighten it 3/4 turn after it makes contact with the mounting surface.

I'm pretty sure it's a canister filter on the early VR6. It should look like a plastic oil filter with a bolt head on the bottom. You just open that and replace the element inside and the two o-ring gaskets (ones big and ones small).

It also depends on your morals. Well, fact is, you shouldn't pop the hood from the front. You should pop it from the lever on the driver's side if at all possible. But if the cable is broken and you have no other choice: The latch is dead center of the car, just above the VW logo in the grill. You should see where the cable is or was hooked into the latch that holds the hood down. Get a pair of pliers, grab onto this lever and pull it to the right (like what the cable would do if you pulled the lever) and the latch should release.

You can time either the cam or the fuel or both. If you google it , you will find instructions on several car forums.

Wheel alignment is needed. Tires are not pointing as they should and you are just wearing out tires faster and it does not self correct when rounding a corner. You will notice the difference. Go to a wheel alignment shop...who basically only do wheel alignments.

I am not positive if your car would be the same as a 2003. Under the hood look for the headlight case. you will see there is a clip. Push in on the clip and a lever will pop out. The lever has a curve to it for your thumb. Push down on this lever....while you push down the head light casing will come out towards the front of the car. Disconnect the wires where the headlight are and the rest you should be able to figure out. Not a hard job, pay attention when reinstalling as there are plastic nubs that have to line up, do not force they are plastic.

it should be located on the center of the right side{front} or the block. with 2 steal braided linen reaching back to the CSI fuel distributor.

Does the radiator cap hold the correct pressure?

Has the coolant been in the motor for a very long time?

Is there alot of scale buildup on the inside of the radiator?

Is the water and antifreeze mixture right?

Is the cars oil pressure good?

Is the thermostat stuck closed? Any of these will do it.

disconnect the battery negative terminal. unscrew the drain plug and drainthe fuel into a suitable container. remove the brake fluid reservoir filler cap and tghtenit down onto a piece of pllythene sheeting; this will reduce the loss of brake fluid in sunsequent operations.shock the front wheels. jack up the rear of the car and support it on axle stands. sisconnect the brake line hoses on each side of the carm just forward of the rear axle mountings plug the ends to prevent the entry of dirt. unscrew and remove the axle mounting nuts from each side of the car, and lower the rear axle beam as far as the handbreake cable guides will allow. remove the echaust silencer mounting rubber and lower the silencer. lossen the securing clip and disconnect the fuel supply hose fromthe tank. note the ollocation of the engine supplu and return pipes, then diconnect them fromthe tank. remove the reaining straps and lower the tank sufficiently to disconnect the fuel gauge sender unit wires breather pipe and drain pipe. withdraw the fuel tank from under the car.

Well you probably do not have a working horn, so go to an auto parts store and buy a horn relay for your car. Once you buy electrical items, it is yours>no return policy of electrical stuff at all parts stores.< It will most likely be either an aluminum sugar cube sized box or black plastic box same size.

Testing of a fuel pump is normally done with a fuel pressure gauge test kit. However one can get a good idea about the fuel pump with other observations. If the fuel pump makes a loud high pitched electrical whining sound it's starting to go bad. You can also pull the fuel line and put the end of it in a container then run the pump by jumping the relay for 30 seconds and measuring how much fuel came out ( approximately 1.5 liters). One can also remove the pump and bench test it with extra fuel line attached by using jumpers ( a fused one for the positive lead ) and an extra battery. Don't run the pump dry, use a couple of fuel containers and pump fuel from one to the other.

You may have two fuel pumps if you have the 13 gallon tank. If so one is by the passenger side under the car next to the tank. The other is inside your fuel tank.

The fuel pump is accessible from under the rear seat. Start the car and pull the fuel pump fuse and let the car run until it dies to get the fuel out of the system. Disconnect the battery. Pull up the rear seat and take out the screws that hold down the cover. Disconnect the hoses and the electrical connector and remember where they go. Then unbolt the fuel pump carriage and pull it out. Keep rags handy while you do this to clean up spilled fuel.

the oil filter is located towards the front of the engine (assuming your Jetta is a 1.8T)...in the direction of the radiator. the oil filter is difficult to see without a light source from above the engine compartment, but you can still access it if your arms are small like my wifes. you can spin it loose from above and remove it from below (after flexing the plastic guarding out of the way)...just be careful not to spill any 'hot' oil down the side of your arm. good luck. duey163

Is this a trick question? ;-) I think you might have something broken if you haven't figured this out by now. Just below the dashboard, at the far, far left of the car (driver's left knee if you're sitting in the car), there should be a plastic handle attached to a cable. Pull this handle and the hood should "pop". If the handle is broken or missing, look for the cable. Grab the cable with some vise grips and give it a good yank.

Once the hood pops, there should be a latch up front on the hood, dead center, with a small lever that rocks the latch back and forth. Squeeze this lever and the latch should let go of the car and the hood should open.

If you can't find the cable, you may have to get to the latching mechanism from through the grill. If you look just above the VW logo in your grill, you should see where a cable may have once been, or perhaps a piece of a cable. Grab a large flat head screwdriver and push this piece to the right until the hood pops.

Suspension airbag kits might be available, but since it is a strut suspension, they would have to be the hollow type, and would take some engineering. A generic kit isn't going to work.

Crash airbags were never available on the Mark I rabbit/jetta.

Under the steering wheel shaft is a plastic cover held in place with 2 Phillips screws. Take off the screws and the cover. Now you see the barrel. You will see a tiny black hole in the barrel. This takes a metric Allen key. You need to loosen the Allen key or forget it. The wiring is held in a clump by a plastic holder and that just unplugs. Put the key in the ignition because usually the steering wheel lock needs to be released. and with the key in you should be able to pull it out.

On the dash on the drivers side on American vehicles that with left hand steering. It is a metal plate that is riveted to the dash.

on the auto 2 door, 25 all around mpg, on the man, 27 all around mpg.

it is located right under the rear passenger seats. just lift up the bottom part of the seat and you will see 2 hoses and some wiring that's your fuel pump
