Not likely as there is the Good Samaritan law in place to protect people who for what ever reason choose not to preform CPR. A trained individual may not always fall under preforming CPR being part of their job description. Those that work in the medical field are required to use CPR if a patient is in need of it can be sued to negligence.

Yes they can - if you are required to have it you must take it. It is actually a great thing to have so if they want you to get it do it!!

There is not one single agency that collects this information; so the answer is not known. Besides the ARC and AHA, there are many 3rd party company's that teach and qualify people for CPR.

Just be there for them. As sad as it may be try to make them laugh once in awhile and don't be afraid to try to be funny. If they are bed-ridden sometimes just sitting there quietly while they fall in and out of sleep is comfort for them. If they aren't bed-ridden then sitting down together and putting a supportive arm around them helps and let them know it's OK to have a good cry. Crying isn't weak at all, but a release of frustration, perhaps anger and is very normal. Crying helps the body relax. This person is very lucky to have someone like yourself. Just be you! Good luck
