What is the net worth of Thomas Dolby inventor of the dolby sound system?

I don't know Thomas Dolby's net worth, but I can tell you that he is not affiliated in any way with Dolby Labs and their sound technology. Thomas Dolby's work first appeared in the 1980s, about the same time as Dolby Labs, but this is only coincidence.

Why are there 4 seasons in a year?

The seasons are influenced mainly by the tilt of Earth towards the Sun, and also by the elliptical orbit of the Earth. When either hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun, it is summer in that hemisphere, and winter in the opposite hemisphere which is tilted away from the Sun.

How is total capacitive reactance for parallel capacitors using their reactances is calculated?

Total capacitance for parallel capacitors is simply the sum of all capacitor's individual capacitances. This would apply within (reasonably) any frequency, ignoring non-ideal resistance and inductance, so the same can be said for capacitive reactance.

Why do tunnels collapse?

A tunnel is an underground or underwater (or both) route for the transit of people and/or goods. The tunnel is surrounded by rock or other earthen materials, water or other things, and these all apply pressure on the structure of the tunnel. Sometimes these structures fail.

The failure of a tunnel can come as the result of poor engineering or construction. A "bad" design or the failure of the construction crews to follow a design can leave a tunnel vulnerable to failure. Additionally, there may be earthquakes or other natural disasters, fires or explosions in the tunnel, or other events that the tunnel was not made to withstand, and collapse is possible under the circumstances.

What was the world's greatest engineering marvel in 1889 when it was built.?

The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France was completed in 1889 as the entrance to that year's World's Fair. It was built by the Compagnie des Etablissements Eiffel; its design was initially criticized by intellectuals and artists as a "hateful column of bolted sheet metal," but 125 years later, it has become one of the most recognizable structures in the world. It is the most visited paid monument in the world and globally recognized as a symbol of Paris and of France. It is 1,063 feet tall and held the title for the tallest man-made structure in the world for 41 years.

The tower was named after French engineer Gustave Eiffel. In 1885, he said that the tower would symbolize "not only the art of the modern engineer, but also the century of Industry and Science in which we are living, and for which the way was prepared by the great scientific movement of the eighteenth century and by the Revolution of 1789, to which this monument will be built as an expression of France's gratitude."

What are engineering properties of igneous rock?

Broadly igneous rocks are divided in two categories 1) Extrusive Rock 2) Intrusive Rocks.

Intrusive rocks, in general , have density 150-200(pcf) their compressive strength ranges form 3-30 (Psi*100). Usually the discontinuities found in these rocks are joints, Mostly tight joints, so the permeability and storage capacity is low.

The extrusive rocks have density range from 120-200 (pcf) and their compressive strength ranges is 1-30(Psi*100).As these rocks are formed by the consolidation of lave on the surface of earth, and are exposed to the weathering agents more then the intrusive rocks, so these have many type of discontinuities in them, the most common are joints, voids and flow fractures. The presence of discontinuities increase the permeability and ability to store the fluids, mostly water. Hence its permeability is from low to high, depending upon the concentration of discontinuities.

What is Difference between direct view storage and flat panel display?

"Flat panel" screens refer to any screen that does not have a cathode ray tube, the large glass tube that takes so much depth inside a conventional television. Flat panel screens include plasma, LCD and LED and are normally about 5 inches deep. Wide screen describes the shape of the screen. Conventional screens are a ratio of 4 wide to 3 high. Widescreen normally refers to a ratio of 16 wide by 9 high although there are other ratios that can be described as widescreen as well. Flat panel screens and CRTs come in 4 : 3 and 16 : 9 formats. Flat panel is a thin television, widescreen is what most HDTVs are. Widescreen is basically a movie style screen. It's a lot wider than it is high.

What are advantages of multiplexer using in electronics?

Instead of adding more wiring and more connections that may pose a

reliability issue and increase the cost, we can use multiplexers to send data to

many devices over fewer wires.

Can a diode work in ac?

A diode is a "one-way valve" that allows electrical current to flow in only one direction. A diode placed in series between an AC voltage source and a resistive load will allow current to flow through the load in one direction and block the current when the polarity of the AC voltage changes.

How do you calculate fringing capacitance?

The best way is to use an EM solver, such as FastCap from MIT. Numerous published papers also describe the best-fit formulae to calculate fringing capacitances by hand. Try reading "Modeling of interconnect capacitance, delay , and crosstalk in VLSI," by Wong et al., IEEE Trans. Semi. Manufacturing, v13, n1, February 2000, pp108, and the references therein.

What are some real life examples of where wind power is being used?

As wind pick speed it will force a blade like a propeller to spin. They spin because of the design whereby differential pressure is applied by the blades wind air flowS. as it spins the rotor is tied to a generator which will be electrically tied to the grid as a source of power. What happens if there is no wind then by design it becomes a motor in other words take power from the grid to maintain a certain spin waiting for winds to pick. While it is free power it is not quite efficient. It was setup as taxes break to relieve the energy power and as test ground for new energy sources
