There are three species of snake in the UK - the smooth snake, the grass snake and the viper or Adder. Only the adder is poisonous and if you leave it alone it will stay away from you. There is also something called a Slow Worm that has been mistaken for a snake, mainly because of its size, but it is actually a legless lizard and is perfectly harmless.
The dahong palay (also spelled dahon palay) is the name of the favored sword of those who live near the sea in the province of Batangas, Philippines. A dahong palay is a dreaded poisonous snake that resembles the leaf of a rice plant. The sword, also named after it’s leaf-like shape, is a tool used by farmers who work in the rice fields. However, during the revolution, some Batanguenos depended on this sword as their primary weapon.
yes, in the form of giant of colossus squid. little is known about either species
Is snake venom used for medicine?
...ANOTHER ANSWER... I would agree with the premise of answer #1 but not with the examples and would follow the advice of answerer #2...aroma therapy, homeopathy, acupuncture and chiropractic are now seen as viable and effective forms of aternative medicine and most are, in fact, covered by an individuals insurance. A more accurate exampe of "snake oil medicine" would be creams or lotions that promise to "totally reverse the aging process" especially when results are guaranteed by saying "after just one use"! Advertisers often market a product with "snake oil" methods by showing before and after pictures of results that are unrealistic.
Another Answer: I think a lot of legal drugs could be construed a "Snake oil". I took Lipitor and some arthritis ( Vioox, Bextra, Baycol) medications that were not any better than the snake oils of the old west. Th crooked salesman was a man in a white coat with a diploma on his wall. A Scheister none the less! With the FDA making his brochures.
Another answer, assuming you want an answer to the question you actually asked: Snake medicine varies depending on the culture, and generally refers to symbolic uses of the snake image rather than requiring actual snakes. Native Americans often saw in snake the idea of death/rebirth because it sheds its skin and seems about to die when it does so. Creativity, transformation, and moving forward without looking back are all connected to this view of snake. "Creativity" is also an attribute of kundalini or serpent energy; in this Eastern idea, serpent fire is coiled at the base of the spine, and as its energy is released up the spine, it activates all the chakras (energy centers in the body) and helps develop the body, mind, and spirit. These ideas have also been adopted by many modern students of the metaphysical; snake energy in all these traditions is usually accessed through some form of meditation. Greeks associated the snake with healing and alchemy: the staff of Aesculapius, a rough stick with a snake twined about it, is used as a symbol by doctors trained in Western-style medicine. (A similar symbol with two intertwined snakes, the caduceus, symbolized peace, commerce, and trade; it has often been confused with the staff of Aesculapius.) And the Egyptians depicted a rearing cobra in the uraeus, a headband/crown that symbolized both sovereignty over lower Egypt (and, some believe, over the universe) and divine protection of the royal who wore it.
Will Adderall help me lose weight?
yes, but probly not the best way to go, no doubt it is unhealthy physically for u, but that is the least of ur concern. i have heard cases of ppl loseing 6 pounds over night or more, one of which is myself. but when u go through withdrawl, which u can't escape, and u have to face it sumtime, u will lose all intrest in loseing weight, adderal is dextroamphetamine, so the high is amazing but the low is pure hell, no question, u will be a totally different person, but it also depends on how much u take too, my estimate with my self is 10mg of adderal equals one pound over night, this doesn't include activity, and 10 mg withdrawl isn't so bad.

Did the snake that God created before Adam have a name?
We are not given in the Bible any reference that God has given names to animals. But we see that He gave stars names in Psalms 147:4 "He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names." So it's possible that God gave all the creatures a name, but we don't know that for sure.
We do know that God let the man name the creatures He made. Genesis 2:19 "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."
Are there poisonous snakes in Nebraska?
Yes! Prairie rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis). As the name indicates, this rattlesnake lives in grassland areas of the Great Plains including the western two-thirds of Nebraska Timber rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus). The timber rattlesnake is a species of the eastern United States but its range extends into the wooded areas of southeastern Nebraska Western massasauga(Sistrurus catenatus). This is a small rattlesnake, about 20 to 30 inches long, with dark, somewhat round, blotches down the back and other smaller and less distinct blotches on the sides Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix). Copperheads are stout-bodied snakes, appropriately named because of the coppery top of the head. In Nebraska, they are known to occur only in southern Gage and Richardson Counties, but they may also occur along the Missouri River bluffs south of the Platte River Source: Ron J. How many people die in India a year from snake bites?
I saw a National Geographic documentary on television.. ( channel NATGE..#551..STAR CHOICE TV.. December 2008..Topic..World's Most deadly Animals..India), that says approximately 200,000 people are bitten by snakes yearly in India. Of those, just over 50,000 die: EVERY YEAR!! That is just under 140 deaths PER DAY!!*#*( see caption below. 4th paragraph )
To me, this is very alarming. And this does not include any of the other deaths from larger snakes, example, Python, that strangle and swallow their victims whole. Think of an Indian woman washing her clothes close to a river bank and a snake "pull" her down and shes gone. The villagers knows shes mssing. They put it down to one of several things; Death by crocodile, alligator, large snake, or Bengal tiger.
In India, poisonous snakes follow the rodent population on which they feed. This cause them to come in very close contact with humans when the rodents LIVE among people.
I've heard some so-called experts( not from National Geographic) say that this *#* is just part of nature's way of "controlling the population". That is extremely preposterous!! 140 people being killed every day in ONE country!! All in the name of POPULATION CONTROL!!!? Can I get an "Oh My GOd"!!, to all you so- called experts!! What about the other extimated ( exact number unknown), 175 people that die daily in India from scorpion bites!!? ( Mostly Red scorpion). Should we put those 64,000 deaths per year, in India, down to POPULATION CONTROL also!!? We need better answers, I think. You be the judge.
I hope that helps. Graaaphicdessigner@yahoo.ca
Acually, if that bothers you, go ahead and look up MALARIA statistics for Africa, that's much much worse.
Yes. They are taught by their mother to leave snakes alone. Apes have different sounds ( vocal calls ) for several different animals that invade their territory.
