Odra in Polish or Oder in English and German is the river defining most of the boundary between Germany and Poland. The remaining part of the boundary with Germany is along its tributory, the Nysa River. Odra River starts in the Czech Republic and reaches the Baltic sea to the north of the city of Szczecin. i will say this i mailed a package to Ukraino on Sept 20, 2012, it is now November 14, 2012, and person has not received it yet, i sent the package to recipient USPS first class international mail. I am wondering what in the hell is going on....... Ukraine is the only country i have has a problem with, every other country i have mailed to the recipient has always received there package using USPS First Class International.

I sent a package from US to Ukraine on Jan 26th and now it is Feb 28th. Recipient still hasn't received it!!

We celebrate Christmas on January 7th. First of all Christmas is a day when Jesus Christ was born, not the day when Santa Claus brings gifts. That stuff happens on New Years in some families, but it's not a tradition. On Christmas eve we make Kutya - unique dish and another 12 different lenten meals, then we have a supper and then we go to church for evening service. On the next day (January 7th) we can eat meat, ham, jellied meat, and all the rest of meals. People basicly have a supper, on Christmas, with their relatives, family, sometimes with friends. Also we trade gifts with each other on December 19 - St.Mikolay (Nickolas). As I already typed, some people give each other gifts on New Years day. We celebrate Christmas according to tradition.

About 19th of December, usually adults trade gifts, but St. Nicola's day is the day when kinds receive presents under their pillows from St. Nicolas if they were good the last year. It is favorite holiday for all the ukrainian children because it is always so much fun. I remember i was the happiest little girl in the world when I woke up the 19th of December with my pillow slanted up with all the candies and goodies.

About Christmas day, also kids go from house to house, from appartment to appartment, singing carols and people give them usually money for that. I personally did that when i was little and it was quite a good profit. Sometimes churches organize singing carols and gathering money for that for church. Also it is a lent like 2 weeks before Christmas so we can't have any parties, night clubs, no meat on Fridays (usually), the only one exception is the New Year day. It is quite entertaining to celebrate Christmas in Ukraine, everybody's welcome!

Putin has been elected President again and he will appoint Medvedev as his PM and the appointment will receive the approval of the Duma. There are some divisions of formal power between the two positions in the Constitution, however, as Putin has centralized power in the office and among his supporters over the past decade, the power, in reality, seems to reside with Putin who has been making more political decisions and influencing policy as the PM more than any other PM in the past, whereby overlooking the few divisions of power that do exist between these positions.

Well yes and no. NATO was formed after WWII as an alliance against communist agression of countries in Europe that considered themselves allies of the United states. The communists formed the Warsaw Pact which was the communist countries that condidered themselves aligned with Russia to protect themselves from aggression by the west.

So they are not really for or against each other. It is more like they have agreed to disagree and keep a close eye on each other.

As of 2017, it is not yet entirely sure where it wants to be. But the main reason are wars, genocides and annihilations of Ukrainian nation by the other countries. Also, if Ukraine was not occupied and included in Soviet Union in the last century, it would be in EU.

Soviet culture did away with the concept of Christmas gifts. New Years is celebrated as the secular equivalent with New Years gifts and New Years Trees. Most Ukrainians spend Christmas at church.

Ukraine is not a member of the European Union.
