What is better for an 8 year old with ADHD karate or tae kwon do?
They are both going to be good for ADHD and are really very similar. The real key is the instructors and whether they are set up to handle the special needs. I'd see if you could try a class at both locations and see which one appears to work better.
How does meditation effect or interact with ADHD medications such as Adderall?
I have been diagnosed by Western doctors as having bipolar disorder, and I have been taking various meds over the years. I am also a meditator, with fifteen years experience. I can tell you, with no hesitation, that meditation is *fantastic* for people with a higher energy state. In my view, both the manic phases of bipolar and ADHD are examples of this state.
As a person learns to watch the mind, feelings, and physical sensations, s/he gains the ability to catch inappropriate or harmful behaviors in the first instants that they arise. One gains the ability to see things as they come up, *before* one acts on them, so one has more choices as to how to move in the world.
Also, meditation has been shown in many studies to induce calming effects on various sections of the nervous system.
I would suggest finding a meditation which feels right, and going for it.
How do you tell your parents you have ADHD?
Your parents should already know. The only way to truly know if you have a mental illness is to be diagnosed by a doctor, and if you are underage, your parents will be told. If you have diagnosed yourself, it isn't accurate and you could easily be wrong.
Do video games cause or exacerbate ADHD?
Video games can stimulate the minds of all people who find the particular game interesting. Though some games may not have the same effect. Typically those who have ADHD often enjoy playing video games as they are stimulating parts of the brain associated with reward. Gaming gives instant rewards to those who enjoy playing them and so it can become quite addictive. Because those with ADHD may find this particularly rewarding, they often find themselves hyper-focussing on it. They can easily find themselves addicted to the game to ensure a consistant feeling of appraisal. Video games do not cause ADHD but may cause problems such as withdrawal (ie, from socialisation), or addiction. Limited time should be advised so as to avoid these types of problems.

Why does your mind wander while you watch movies and TV or play video games?
Perhaps you have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). People with ADD have trouble concentrating and staying focused. Their minds constantly wander.
Most people's minds wander a little bit while watching movies. If they didn't, then at the end of the movie, no one would ever be confused about what happened. But people constantly get confused about what happened, or they miss certain parts.
How is it possible for someone to sit in a theatre, in front of a giant screen, with no distractions and nothing else to do...and still come out of the theatre not understanding what happened, or having missed entire scenes?
Simple. Their minds wander, they start thinking about other stuff, and they end up missing parts of the dialogue or action.
If you happen to smoke marijuana, this problem will be amplified. It is extremely difficult to concentrate and focus when you're stoned.
If this is really a serious problem for you, instead of something that just happens occasionally, then I would definitely see a doctor (usually a neurologist, psychiatrist, or both) about it.
Is Attention Deficit Disorder a genetic disorder?

I hope so. When a child is not immediately under the care of it's parents then the responsible party at the group home must be responsible for and act as an advocate for that child's health.
Rocking back and forth while talking can be a symptom of ADHD, particularly when the individual is struggling to focus or regulate their impulses. However, it can also be a self-soothing or calming technique for some people in response to anxiety or sensory sensitivity. It's important to consider the individual's overall behavior and consult a healthcare professional for a comprehensive evaluation and appropriate diagnosis.

How can one tell the difference between chronic anxiety and ADD?
Anxiety is the world we live in and everybody has anxiety and I mean everybody. Everyone deals with it in their own way but we are illequipped and never learn to understand our own existence and there is part of us out of control.
Chronic anxiety and add can look similar from the outside because they both eat up a person attention capabilities and it can be hard to get any of their attention at this point. Chronic anxiety has a hyper appearance where as ADD is more of a subdued condition with periods of calmness, patience also can display extraordinary capabilities in certain fields as where anxiety patience have a hard time getting through anything.
I ask a question that enables a person to examine themselves from a different place and the answer is the degree of anxiety and stress you harbor in your body and mind
The question is:
If you where put in a dead quiet room with no distraction would you be able to shut everything off in your head and find peace and quiet yourself.
To ignore the results is to decide to live with this condition and to miss out on your totality.

The chapter on anxiety directly addresses this issue and so far has been life changing for those who have tried them.
The book will be out soon but chapters may be available on a web site soon.
Discovering The Universal Man in everybody can help because everybody needs to find real peace in their lives. I mean the kind of peace that puts the mind to rest because you are able to shut yourself off. There is a way.

Is cheating on your partner a symptom of ADD?
With having ADD, your chances of cheating on your partner do increase slightly.
ALong with that, though, I do have to say that cheating is not something that can be blamed on ADD. Your ADD does not make you cheat, you choose to cheat. Therefor, yes, ADD does slightly impact the chances of you cheating. But it's not the total reason, or is it something that you should blame your cheating on.
Do people with ADHD have a good memory?
People with ADHD can have varied memory abilities; some may excel in certain types of memory, such as visual or episodic recall, while struggling with working memory or attention-related tasks. The challenges often stem from difficulties in sustaining attention and organizing information rather than a lack of memory capacity. Additionally, strategies such as using reminders or organizational tools can help individuals with ADHD improve their memory performance. Overall, their memory function is not uniformly poor and can be enhanced with appropriate strategies.
My son was on concerta he was taking 38mg it worked for him but he has ADD. The more they take is a very bad thing. I would take sugar out of there diet and red #40 food coloring out and go to health food store and get Attention and give it to them 3 times a day over the summer and see how they do. Doctors just want to drug them and you lose your kids. If you need me I"m here for any one I have done my homework!
