How long does it take for the tape worms to die?
it takes a few days for the worms to die out completely with Mebendazole and strait away with Piperazine but that contains laxitives so will give you squits so i dont reccommend that one #;d

Can your dog have fleas but not your house?
yes, a house dog could get fleas...of course you go outside and walk around, your shoes touch the ground and your clothing picks up many things. When you get home, fleas can be on what your wearing and transferr to your dog. Also when you like your dog outside, you dog can catch fleas as well.

- Very seldom do dogs get wolf worms. the best way to describe one is it looks like a maggot.Rabbits and cats get them alot. it will look like a sore that swells up. then it will burst and you can see the worm under the skin. We usually spray some wd40 in the wound and it is gone in about 3 days.
- Actually, it's never been that easy or simple for me. I've had cats that have had wolfs and this is the only way I got them out: Pour peroxide (which my vet just told me not to use peroxide, but iodine) in the hole, trying to smother the wolf out. It will come to the surface of the wound, and then you have to take tweezers and work with it until you get hold of it and pull it out. It's never been easy on either me or the animal. I currently have a chocolate lab who has a wolf; and I'm seriously dreading trying to hold him down to get this one out.

The biggest cause for brown urine is dehydration OR a urinary tract infection (UTI). If a UTI, the brownish urine is likely because the infection is bad enough that the insides of the bladder or kidneys are bleeding. When very fresh bleeding, blood looks red/reddish. But when bleeding had occurred over time, it's called old blood and looks brownish rather than reddish. Both dehydration and UTI can be very serious in cats. They are small; their bladder and kidneys are small. They can't tolerate a UTI like humans can. If it is a kidney infection, the cat can become so sick it can die. For $35 take it to a vet. They will put a very tiny tube into the cat's urethra (where urine comes out) and get a urine sample. The vet will look at the urine under a microscope to see if it has bacteria in it (urine should not have any bacteria). The vet will also take kitty's temperature, check the eyes and mouth for dry mucous membranes, and possibly give the cat a shot of Normal Saline (NS) and a shot of antibiotics. All of this will cost $100-150. BUT if you wait and don't take this cat to a vet NOW, the cat will get sicker and then it could cost up to $300 to $400 to treat. Or without treatment, kitty could die.
Make sure kitty has fresh water. Offer kitty some canned food if you have it. And call the vet so you can take the cat in for evaluation and treatment.

Are tapeworms contagious to other cats?
Cats or dogs or any other mammals cannot pass on the tapeworms directly to the other cat, dog, etc. It has to be passed on by a Flea. The flea is called the intermediate host. The eggs are passed out in the stool of an infected animal in little segments that look like grains of rice. If the animal ate that directly, he would still not become infected. The eggs have to be ingested by the flea who then passes it on when he lands on a dog or cat and bites them. Then the cat or dog can become infected from the flea.
So that is one reason for flea protection. Use Frontline monthly or some other product that does the same thing on your cat or dog.
