Roberto Ridolfi had been involved in the planning of the Northern rebellion, and had been plotting to overthrow Elizabeth as early as 1569.Observing the failure of the rebellion, he came to the conclusion that only foreign intervention could restore Catholicism and bring Mary to the throne, and began to contact potential conspirators.

but the USA government and JFK did tray and assassinate Castro before the missile crisis, in the bay of pigs fiasco in 1961, however the Cuban troops met the sneaky Americans on the beach and it was all very embarrassing for the US, Kennedy even denied it!
