How can you check your VIN number for free?

  • The National Insurance Crime Bureau NICB website will do an instant, free check on VIN numbers and tells you if the car has been stolen, or totaled. It gives links to some other sites that are reasonably priced that will give you more detailed info. See Sources and Related Links for more information.
  • I was researching this question too, as I am getting ready to buy a used Honda SHadow. It Depends on the state and how much access they provide available to the public through their website. For example, I'm in Ohio, and the BMV website offers a title look-up link. I don't have the title yet, but I do have the VIN and the link offers you to either enter the title number or identification number. I entered the VIN in the ID space. Sure enough it brought up the history as well as the title number, I then cross-checked the info.
  • It depends on what information you want to be checked. There are lots of places that can decode your Motorcycle VIN. This can tell you information such as Make, Model, CC, Year, Place of Manufacture etc
  • However if you want to get a full History Report on the motorcycle then you may have to pay for this service. This report can tell you if the bike is listed as stolen, had a major accident or has outstanding finance.
  • See Sources and Related Links for more information about free checks.

Is there a oil filter on a 400 polaris ATV 2-stroke?

All polaris two strokes use an in line oil filter similar to a fuel filter. It will be located somewhere in the oil line, usually in a very hard reach place. Most likely you will have to remove some plastic. I've even found them under the fuel tank or under the air box.

What size engine quad bike can you ride at 18?

It is up to you; you size, weight, ability and experience. If you have a lot of experience go big, if not staying with a middle weight model is better.

How do you start a atv?

Many ATVs have two ways to start the motor. The easiest, most convenient method of starting is electric start. To do this, turn the key on, push the on/off button to the run position and finally push the start button. If the motor is cold, then the choke may need to be opened.

The other way to start an ATV is with a pull cord with which most quads are equipped. The procedure begins exactly the same as with electric start, turn on the key and push on/off switch to the run position. The difference here is instead of pushing the start button, pull the starting cord. My experience is that it is a little harder to start with the cord, but it works in a pinch.

Location of ATV Yamaha raptor 50 fuel filter?

I don't believe there is one. I have a Raptor 80 and there isn't an external filter. I think there may be a screen stand pipe in the tank that is connected to the fuel shut-off valve. I'm really not sure as I haven't disassembled that particular unit. However, if you are wanting to install one, I'd just replace the fuel line to the carb with a neoprene line and install an in-line filter between the carb and the shutoff valve.

What do you have to do to make your 2005 Yamaha ttr 250 street legal in Tennessee?

I've been looking to do the same thing, but in New Jersey. I spoke to a guy from a local dealership and he said the first step (and half the work) is to get your M.S.O. (manufacturer's statement of origin) changed to a title. To do that he said you need to find a D.M.V. that isn't that smart, because they are not actually supposed to do that. After you have done that, you need a kit to add all the lights (headlight, taillight, brake lights, turn signals, license plate assembly) then you need to register it and insure it. when you take it to get inspected, you cant go to the D.M.V. because it has a plastic gas tank (not street legal) and probobly has dirt tires (also not street legal) so you should go to a local garage where you can slip the guy some extra cash to get it passed. dirt tires will wear very quickly if you ride it on the street much, but there are some that are 20% street, 80% dirt, and they are much better for roads.
