No. Brake fluid is not a petroleum product. Power steering fluid is. Petroleum product will swell and ruin rubber part's brake system is full of rubber parts. You will destroy your brake system using power steering fluid.

You have to drain the system via the bleed screws on the calipers. Then, after refilling the system with fresh fluid, you need to bleed the system to remove any air.

It does not use brake fluid. It uses TCH hydrulic fluid. Brake fluid will swell the origs in the brake piston and either lock them up or leak into the trans axle causeing damage to the transaxles.

Expanding the calipers (when you put in new brake pads) can cause the master cylinder reservoir to overflow. Before attempting to perform repairs, make certain it isn't simply leaking out of the master cylinder reservoir.

HOWEVER...

If it's leaking at the left front wheel, you'll probably need to replace the caliper. Sometimes a hydraulic cylinder, such as the caliper cylinder, can become pitted and when the rubber seal of the piston crosses the pitted surface it can leak brake fluid.

Simple answer, find out where it's leaking, it may be nothing, it may be something to repair.

Yes you can. Simply put, DOT4 is a premium version of DOT3, and they will mix. A lot of newer vehicles spec DOT4 in the brake or hydraulic clutch systems, so check to see what your specific application calls for. Quick side note: DOT5 brake fluid is the one that WILL NOT mix with DOT3 or DOT4.

Probably nothing drastic, especially as you change your motor oil frequently ( -you DO, right ). Well, now is the time to do it again. -The other way, engine oil in trans, will lead to problems and in that case you MUST drain ALL trans fluid immediately. (out of torque converter too ).

dude! sounds like air brake sys.(system needs to be bled get air out of sys.)As for gettin stuck , check linkage,brake booster and master cyl.

It's on the driver side close to the firewall. The fluid type is indicated on the top which is about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter.

Yes, not a good think. Your power steering will not properly and because of lake of lubrication it will die. You need clean power steering system of brake fluid. It's not hard to do but just tricky.

I had one of these in high school about 25 years ago, I recall there is an access panel on the floor below the passenger seat that accesses the brake master cylinder. Try that.

Remove the fill cap and add it at the brake fluid master cylinder reservoir. Located on or near the master cylinder.

if u mean coolant level... check for an air lock ( interior heater on full and hot rev engine top up if nessesary) could be thermostat or headgasket too

It is most likely due to a hairline crack in the outlet pipe of the expansion tank. Common fault, ask any Volvo dealer. As the vehicles age, this plastic becomes hard & brittle, so small cracks are almost inevitable. Also check your coolant cap for the same sort of cracking.

The brake fluid on a 2003 Avalanche goes into the fluid reservoir. The reservoir should be bolted onto the drivers side of the firewall.
