Car Shaking Problems

Car shaking problems are usually the results of mechanical problems. Out of adjustment tires or suspension will make the car shake after reaching a certain speed. Warped brake rotors will also make the car shake when it’s slowing down.

Why would a Nissan Sentra 2002 hesitate on acceleration?

It could very well be a carbon build up on the valves. I would try some engine cleaner and injector cleaner first though.

Why does your steering wheel vibrate so much when you reach 65 mph?

Stong possiblity of tire balance problem. If you live in a cold weather State as I do, you may have ice built up on the inside of the rim causing an imbalance. Front wheels are the likely focal point.

Why would a 2003 GMC Envoy still shake even after brakes and rotors have been replaced?

Check tie rod ends, inner tie rod bushings, and balljoints. Also, SOMETIMES new rotors may need to be resurfaced. Usually replacing brake pads alone will not help.

How do you know when to change your brake pads?

If you hear a grinding sound when you hit the brakes you probably need new brake pads. Good chance you will also need new rotors.

Take the tire(s) off and look at the pads. If the metal part is about to touch the rotor you need new pads. Let it go a little longer and you may need new rotors.

Some pads have a small metal tab that will touch the rotor when you need new pads. It will cause a squealing noise when you hit the breaks. When you hear the squeal you need to replace the pads. If you ignore the squeal long enough you may also need new rotors

Normally you have a early warning system on most vechicules that is simple when your car is in motion and the brake pedal is not depressed you will hear a squeaking sound which gives you a warning that it is time for the wallet to be opened.

Why do ignition coil fuse keep blowing?

You may have a short circuit causing the open circuit (Fuse blown) Also, check to make sure the fuse is the correct amperage. check to make sure the ignition coil is for your vehicle not a newer model or older model. The spark plugs put into the car are the ones recommended for the vehicle. IF not then switch them back to the regular platinum tip, single pole. Must get your vehicle checked by a electrical tech to pinpoint the problem.

What causes car and wheels shake while driving and braking?

If it only happens when you are braking I would suspect warped brake rotors. Other reasons the front end could shake would include unbalanced tires or the vehicle needing realignment. Whatever the case may be; driving a car in this condition is unsafe and you should repair it or have it repaired before you drive it again.

What causes a car to shake at higher speeds?

== == As the car speeds up the unbalanced wheels start to wobble. The force of the wobble is transferred to the cars body through the steering mechanism. You would feel the shaking first in the steering wheel. It becomes more pronounced as you pick up speed. == == * Front end need's religning, bad tires or tie-rods. * Tires are low in air.

If ford seems to choke whenever you put your foot on the gas Is this an injector problem?

Check the fuel pressure. Low fuel pressure could leave the engine starved for fuel when you try to develop power.

An injector system does not have a traditional choke but what you describe could be the result of low fuel pressure.

What would cause a cylinder 3 misfire in a 2002 Chevrolet S-10?

If your plugs, wires, cap, rotor and a compression test check out okay I would suspect the #3 fuel injector.

Why would your steering wheel shake while driving if you had your car wheel balanced and rotated?

You may have a bent wheel, defective tire where a steel belt has shifted or broken, worn steering parts, and possibly a defective wheel bearing.

Hyundai 1994 vibration when idle?

Probably due to old/worn-out engine mounts, bushes and that kind of thing. If these are OK, you need to get the engine checked.

Why does your steering wheel shake when you drive a car?

Roll the drivers window down. Stand outside your vehicle and turn the steering wheel while looking at your tires. Does the steering wheel travel more than an inch before the tires move? Look for looseness in the steering column. If that isn't the problem, jack up the front end of the car. Grab the tire at the 12 and 6 o'clock position and try to wiggle it. If it did, check your ball joints for replacement. Grab the tire at 9 and 3 o'clock and wiggle. If it moved, check your tie rods for play and replace them if neccesary. Lastly, grab the wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock. Move your left hand to the 12 o'clock and let go of the tire. Did it move on its own? Have the tires balanced.

Your 1989 Chevy cavalier Z24 stalls and putters out after driving the car awhile and when stopped in drive at a lightIt starts to shake?

The most likely culprit is the catalytic converter. When it no longer functions correctly or becomes clogged it will cause the car to stall. The car typically runs fine when coold but begins acting up after everything gets to temperature.

What are struts?

A strut is a rod or bar designed to resist compression.

What does a fuel tank pressure sensor do?

How is it that the previous contributor of the posed question has the nerve to submit an answer when he doesn't have the slightest clue as to what he is referring to?!?!? First, the FUEL LEVEL is actually measured through the use of a nifty little item called a FUEL LEVEL SENDER which is attached to one (sometimes two) floats which are usually attached to the fuel pump canister. Next, the PROPER answer to the posed question: The fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor or inline fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor is used to measure the fuel tank pressure during the EVAP monitor test on vehicles equipped with the Running Loss-type (returnless style) system. Also, when the PCM receives a signal that there is excessive fuel tank pressure, it will force the system to purge.

Does worn shock absorbers cause steering vibration?

Steering vibration is almost always caused by the tires/wheels. Either your wheels are out of balance or one or both of your tires is defective. There could be a broken belt in the tire that is causing the vibration. If you don't want to take your vehicle to a tire store right away, you can check by reversing tires front to back. If your problem is with the tires, the problem should go away after reversing the tires. However, I don't recommend you do nothing about the problem. Last summer one of the front tires of my pickup had a bad belt, which caused the tire vibrate at high speed. I slowed down, but within a few miles, the tire tread separated and fell off. Had I not slowed down, I would have most certainly lost control of the vehicle. The prudent thing to do is take the vehicle to a reputable tire store. I recommend you take it to a Goodyear-owned service center. By reversing the tires first, you will know if it is a bad tire/wheel and nothing else. That will give you peace of mind when the mechanic tells you what your problem is.

Another possible cause is from the front suspension. Worn or defective tie rods can cause vibration in steering. Tie rods should last at least 40,000 miles. A good mechanic will check for wheel balance first. He can also inspect the ties rods for wear, but I would recommend having the tires checked first since that is a lot less expensive than replacing tie rods. If a mechanic tells you it is the tie rods, you can always get a second opinion.

What is angular speed and angular velocity?

That is analogous to linear speed and velocity, but for rotation. Whereas a linear speed (or velocity) is expressed in meters per second (or some other units of distance / time), the angular speed or velocity is expressed in radians / second (or some other units of angle / time).

Of course, when something rotates, there is also a linear speed, but different parts of an object rotate at different linear speeds, whereas the angular speed is the same for all parts of a rotating object - at least, in the case of a solid object. For example: the Earth rotates at an angular speed of 1 full rotation / day. The linear speed at the equator is approximately 1667 km/hour; close to the poles, the linear speed is much less.

How do rotors get warped?

when you apply the brakes the rotor absorbs the head from friction. the rotor is suppose to dissipate the heat evenly. you can warp your rotor by applying the brake to hard and creating to much heat to often which warps the rotor. the rotor will then cool down to quick and stay warped.

another way to warp your rotor is when the wheels are tightened unequally and and to tight. this creates an uneven braking and heats up unevenly
