There are a couple of hundred things that can cause that light to come on or flash. Guessing can get very expensive so I would recommend you take it to the nearest parts store. Most of them have a digital reader and can tell you exactly what the problem is and how to correct for the least amount of money.

yes it can. i had a 2004 ford mustang that kept reading that the camshaft position sensor was the cause. Changed the cps and still same code. changed alternator and the code cleared itself!

That means there is a problem in the emissions system are the transmission and other places too. You need to have the engine scanned with an engine scanner to see were your problem is.

Flooding an engine simply means that there is TOO much gas in your cylinders, and you have to wait until they drain before you press the gas, or start the vehicle. The more you try to turn the vehicle over, the more gas will be injected. So let the vehicle sit and wait or press the accelerator to the floor to increase the air in the mixture and leave it there until the engine starts.

Yes it will. The Service Vehicle Soon light is for the BCM (Body Control module. If any bulbs go out, like the headlights, turn signals, reverse lights, etc, it will trigger the SVS light. The BCMs in newer cars control ALL lighting. This is why in newer cars, if you leave the dome light or headlights on, you can never run your battery down because the BCM shuts it off before it can drain the battery.

You need to have the vehicle checked with a scan tool. You most likely have a miss in one of the cylinders. The scan tool will tell you which one. Once you know that, remove the plug to see if you have spark. If you do you need to check compression. If you do not have spark, try swapping wires on the coil pack with the missing cylinder wire. If still no spark, you most likely have a bad coil pack.

Numbers 1, 2, 3 cylinder are on the back side of the motor. Number 3 is closest to the drivers side. To get at them you need to remove the cowl.

In my 2001 Windstar's case, it was a bad coil pack.

In some cases unhooking the battery for a few minutes may reset the check engine light. However, if the problem still exists the light will come back on. Also be aware that the computer is making constant adjustments to keep your car running at it's best. When you disconnect the battery the computer also resets so your vehicle may run poorly for a few minutes while the computer optimizes all the settings again.

your question makes no sense. the imobilzer would be if you disconnected battery.it shouldn't matter if you replaced it with a 04 engine. unless you have a bad crank position sensor. or a bad ignition switch for security.

-No spark (For SI engines)

You probably learned about this misfire from the car's onboard computer. This means that you should check each of the above systems and pay careful attention to those lines/wires/gaskets that are near the troublesome cylinder. Inspect the spark plug and wire for that cylinder. Check for adequete fuel pressure and compression. I would check compression last because your car is relatively new and you shouldn't have too much loss of compression yet (unless you've logged 200,000 miles already). Also don't forget that fuel injectors act like electronic valves and if one fails it won't get any fuel to its respective cylinder, even with fuel pressure that's within specifications.

CELs are usually related to the emissions control systems on OBDII compliant vehicles. One common reason for a CEL is fueling with the engine running. The engine performs a vacuum test which will throw a code if the fuel cap is open. Aside from the annoyance of the light, it's generally not a smart idea to fuel up while the engine is running.
