A 1995 Chevy Astro Van is rated at 210 degrees Fahrenheit avg temperature when at normal engine operation. Other years close to this year are the same.

It is a common problem on a large percent of Chevy trucks, both full size and the smaller models. They lean to the driver side. Even sitting new on the lot. GM claims they don't but I guess they never measured them or looked. The lean varies from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. Most people say it is caused in the front suspension. Companies like Bell Tech make a 3/4 inch spacer to put under the driver side spring. I prefer to cut 3/4 inch off the pass side spring. Some people think it is because the steering gear and gas tank are on the drivers side but I don't know because they lean the same with a full tank of gas to an empty tank. Some people have fixed it by putting different length connecting links in the sway bar mount, letting the sway bar hold the driver side up. I would say that is not going to let your sway bar do it's job correctly in a corner. I see the problem from 1999 through 2010.

If the air blows out either the heater vent under the dash or the defroster vent on top of the dash the problem is there is a break, crack or a leak in the vacuum line which controls which location the air blows out. The vacuum line runs from the the front corner of the drivers side valve cover over to the HVAC mess on the front passenger side of the van. It is a small plastic vacuum line that goes over the top of the engine. It gets brittle from the engine heat and breaks in two. Best bet is to replace the entire line instead of trying to patch it. I have a 99 Astro and have fought with this as well

The line or core is probably plugged, or if it has a manual or vaccum switch check to see that it is not corroded. If it moves freely, I would find both lines to the core (heater), disconnect them and drain as best you can. I would pour some flush into the lines and let it sit in the lines/core for 15 minutes then attach a garden hose and flush the crap out. I usually install some cheap clear plastic tubing on the core/lines to let gravity help me and to direct the waste away. Remember to top off the rad.It will heat good then. I hope this helps you. Loosen the 2 screws holding the distributor on and turn it left or right depending on the needed adjustment.

You need to disconnect the timing plug for the computer, then time it to zero degrees. Once you plug the timing plug back in, the computer will self time the motor from there.

The easy way is to disconnect the negative cable on the battery for about 20-30 minutes or more. This resets the codes and clears out any garbled programming that may have entered the chips during operation by allowing the power to totally leave them. It's like rebooting you home computer, has the same effect. If your problem was solved by doing this it will run better.

The reason you don't disconnect the positive side is because of the potential to hit a grounded area with the tool you are using causing a spark. In some cases this has been known to fry the ECU. Better safe than sorry.

Also most auto parts store will read the codes for free and clear the codes as well.

10-10-09 This was performed on a 2000 Chevy Astro van but may not apply to other years or models. First I found the siren under the hood and cut the negative wire going to it, then I found the gm accessory brain (alarm system) tie wrapped under the dash, just above the brake pedal. I unplugged the wide white connector on the end of it and the van started and everything worked.

I did an intake gasket on a 2004 astro awd 4 month ago. It not that hard but you got to remove everything around of the engine compartment. It took me maybe 5 hours. U got to be a little flex to work with it . GOod luck

It is claimed that the Chevy Astro cargo van can average about 28 miles to the gallon, but this will depend very much on the type of driving conditions. It driving is in a busy urban area, fuel consumption will be lower than when driving on country roads while maintaining a steady, moderate speed.

Just heater outlets for the rear area. If you were to remove the console assembly which hides the engine cover, you would see a duct running from the top to beneath the floor. It feeds the vents you mentioned.

There is none, you must use a siphon or remove the lower radiator hose. Dexcool coolant only needs to to be changed at 100,000 miles so I presume GM left it out to save a few pennies.

The distributor and rotor are fairly easy.They're at the rear of the engine,once you take the dog house off.The hard part is the spark plugs. Some you can reach from inside with a tight squeeze and the rest from the wheel wells. I hope you have small hands or a lot of patience for the plugs you have to reach from inside the van. good luck and God Bless.

You must replace the handle, they are made of plastic. For the inner- remove both screws in the door panel[in the grab handle] remove the trim from the door handle. Remove window crank and with proper tool remove door panel. Tool is cheap. With panel off, there will be one rivet holding old door handle in place. Drill out rivet [ 3/16 ] and slide whole door handle assembly forward. Carefully remove door and lock rods and reverse the process to assemble. Outer- One bolt is behind door panel and the other is on the outside edge of the door right behind the handle. Simply remove bolts, remove handle and swap door lock into new handle and replace.

Go slow. Don't take the WHOLE thing apart. Just repair the oil cooler first and see what leaks. The 350 tends to have problems with the o-rings on the oil cooler line. Repair that first if you aren't absolutely certain that oil isn't just leaking on everything else from the cooler. On the other hand, if you're ABSOLUTELY certain that you have to replace the oil pan gasket, you'll need to raise the engine to replace the gasket. To raise the engnine, pull the motor mounts and lift the engine 4 to 6 inches, then you can pull the pan bolts and drop the pan.

Replace the wiring harness. Easy fix. Most likely is a broken wire.

Cheapest returnable answer is to remove the bulbs

I just bought a 97 Astro and had a hard time finding it too because it doesn't have one. The lower right corner of the gas cap cover has a finger pull.
