How do you bleed the brakes for a 1991 Chevy Cavalier wagon?

If it has antilock/traction control system, you have to have a professional bleed them for you.

You need: A new bottle of approved brake fluid. A box-end wrench that fits the bleeder valves. A hose that fits over the bleeder valve. A can or jar. A helper.

Take the cover off the master cylinder. It's divided in two sections. One for the rear brakes and one for the front. Make sure it's full. If it gets too low, it will suck in air - then you'll have to start all over again.

Start at the furthest wheel from the master cylinder (rear passenger side). Have your helper push and hold the brake pedal down. Now open the bleeder valve and let the fluid squirt out into the jar/can (small hose over end of bleeder valve). The brake pedal should now go down all the way to the floor. When it's done squirting, tighten the valve again. Tell your helper to release the brake pedal and pump it a few times. Next, tell them to push and hold down the pedal again. Open the valve and let it squirt out. Close the valve. Let go of brake pedal. Pump brakes . . . Keep doing this on each wheel until you don't hear or see any air bubbles coming out of the valve and the fluid looks clean.

Next, do the drivers side rear, then the passenger side front, then finally the drivers side front.

Make sure you keep checking the fluid level in the master cylinder. As you bleed the brakes, you'll have to keep topping it off.

Replace cover on master cylinder (push in the rubber balloon/accordion things under the cover - these pop out as your fluid level gets low).

Dispose of left over brake fluid. Don't save it. Once you open a can, the fluid absorbs water and it's no good after a while.

Check brake pedal movement. It should not go to the floor and feel strong.

Check for leaks. Test drive the car. Slow at first (just to make sure).

Where is the air intake control valve located on a 2000 Chevy Cavalier Z24?

There is no "air intake control valve" persay. On the throttle body you have, Idle Air Control Valve it is square looking and right in front. The IAC valve does just that, controls the idle. It has 4 wires. There are a couple of ways to test it.The easy way is with an ohmmeter.Unplug it and check resistance across terminals A and B, then across C and D(on the valve, not the plug). Each resistance check should indicate 40 to 80 ohms. If not replace the IAC valve. Simple to change,no ajustment required. Also, there is a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor,on the side that looks round), MAP Sensor(manifold air pressure sensor,it is held down with one of the throttle body mounting bolts on a little bracket by itself in the front).3 wires and a short vacume line. AIT Sensor (Air Intake Tempeture Sensor). On the big round tube between the air filter box and the throtle body. And the only thing that would be close to what you are wanting to know is the throttle valve itself inside the throttle body bore..(Connected to the the throttle cable)

What is the egr on a 1997 Chevy Cavalier z24?

Basically the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve that lets exhaust fumes return to the combustion chamber to be re-burnt if the o2 sensor tells the computer their are to many gas fumes in this exhaust pipe not getting burnt. The computer then tells the fuel injectors not to stay open as long. These "Quad 4" engines were found to be way below the acceptable level. In mid-1999 model, the EGR was removed entirely. So if your car has one(EGR) 95-mid-99 It will have to remain plugged in just to keep the check engine light off.If you install a mid 99-newer engine, Just tuck it somewhere out of the way. Most of the time if you get a trouble code with the EGR it can be solved by removing it and cleaning exhaust funk out of the passage way. In 1999 they just changed the exhaust manifold gasket. It has one less hole in it.

How do you change the alternator for a 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24?

Head down to your local auto zone, you will need to rent a tool called a "serpentine belt tool"...about 25 dollar deposit I believe. Insert that tool into the side of the belt tensioner, there will be a square hole. Rotate the belt tensioner until you can slip the belt off one of the pulleys. Now disconnect the wiring on top of the alternator, one small nut I believe its a 10mm or 8mm. Then remove both mounting bolts, forward one is a 10mm and the rear I believe is a 13mm. You can now grab hold of the alternator and lift it off the engine. There will be one more wire to disconnect once you get it off, its on the bottom...just a clip connector. You can now remove the alternator from the engine bay. Installation is the reverse process.

How do you replace torque strut mount on a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier?

Some people call it the "Dogbone" mount. Because that is what it resembles. It is located underneath the engine on the passenger side. It prevents the engine from spinning around when you give it gas and go.Simply remove the 2 bolts (15mm i belive) that mount it,knock it out with a hammer or pry it out with a screw driver(your choice), put in the new mount, put the two bolts back in and go...simple.

It is driven by the timing chain and is a pretty big job if you have never done it. Get help form someone that has done it before. You risk destroying the engine if not done right. But you will need (2) 8mm bolts to hold the cams in time.

How much will it cost to do a Z24 swap into a 2002 2.2 cavalier?

More than the car is worth unless you have lots of tools and time and do it yourself. The motor mounts would have to be the same or make new ones. You would have to change your PCM and possibly all of the wiring. If you are going from auto to man. or man. to auto you open a door for alot more problems. It could be done but unless you have torches, air comp. and air tools, proper lifts and stands, jacks, sockets, a garage for two to three weeks and a buddy who knows how to rewire it's just not worth it. A haynes manual for each car would help alot. If you don't do it yourself it could cost $2500 - $5000 or more. Buy the manuals at atuo zone and just see how much is involved in just a rebuild. Hope I helped. More than the car is worth unless you have lots of tools and time and do it yourself. The motor mounts would have to be the same or make new ones. Why would a new starter on a 1998 Mercury Topaz not seem to be getting any current?

It could be a bad starter relay, faulty wire(s)/switch(s) and/or dirty connections. I would check the starter relay and connections first. If everything else checks out, it just might be the starter itself.
