What engines interchange to a 97 Chevy Cavalier with a 24 dohc?
This is pretty much trivial and up to you and how much work you want to put into it. obviously any of the other base model cavalier engines in the same "generation" interchange easily ie: 2.2l l4 ohc, 2.4l dohc, possibly an Ecotec engine if you have a newer generation Cavalier. the truth is every engine requires some bit of customization with harnessing and wiring and such as long as you can fit the engine in the compartment and on an appropriate transaxle, so whatever engine you want you'll have to build around it with that engine's electronics, specs, etc ...
Where is the cooling sensor located on a 1998 Chevy Cavalier?
IF you're asking where the coolant level sensor is located, it is located inside the coolant reservoir (that plastic tank on the passenger's side under the hood). The electrical connection is toward the front of the reservior on the engine side.
Why would an engine run fine until it warms up then wont run at an even R P M some times stops?
When your car first starts up, it runs in "open loop mode" meaning it ignores all the engine sensor inputs and simply runs off a base map which is programed into your computer (ECM) at the factory. When your engine light comes on, it causes your engine to operate in a "limp mode" and revert back to open loop mode which is also the base map, so the car can make it to it's destination for service. Once the car warms up to operating temperature, it goes into a "closed loop" mode which means that it now accepts data from all the vehicle sensors (mainly the oxygen sensor and MAP- manifold air pressure or MAS- mass airflow sensor). It uses these sensors to determine the air/fuel ratios and timing advance/retard which is what gives the car optimal fuel economy, power and emission control. I would say that since your car runs fine until it warms up, that you have a bad sensor which is either the O2 sensor (oxygen sensor) or it's a MAP sensor/MAS sensor ( your car will have one or the other). Check your engine codes and see what they say, but It's definitely one of those sensors. It is a sensor but it is the TPS throttle positioning sensor I guarantee it go to your local parts store and but one they are easy to change.
Separate issue, if you need too set the timing following a timing belt change or belt slippage then you have to set the mechnical timing of the motor. Go buy a Chilton or Haynes manual which will tell you where the marks are and you can properly set the timing before starting the motor.
What size windshield wipers on a 1999 z24?
The 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier (including Z24) wiper blade sizes are 22" drivers and 17" passenger side wiper blades. Do not buy by length-only however. See Sources and Related Links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.
Excellent answer Jeff & I agree.
What is meant by brake horse power in cars?
Brake horsepower (bhp) is the measure of an engine's horsepower without the loss in power caused by the gearbox, generator, differential, water pump and other auxiliaries. Thus the prefix "brake" refers to where the power is measured: at the engine's output shaft, as on an engine dynamometer. The actual horsepower delivered to the driving wheels is less. An engine would have to be retested to obtain a rating in another system. The term "brake" refers to the use of a band brake to measure torque during the test (which is multiplied by the engine speed in revs/sec and the circumference of the band to give the power).

On the driver side, under the hood. Look back near the firewall down low. There is a red dipstick handle to check fluid level. Take out the dipstick and using a long funnel, add the trans fluid until full.

How do you change spark plugs on a 1994 Cavalier Z24?
My guess is that it is a 3.1L motor correct?? If so, you remove the spark plug wires from the engine bank closest to the front ( left bank ) then remove the plugs...the rear ( right bank ) is not acessable unless you remove the "dog bones" from the left bank. there should be a small bolt hole under the dog bones to put the bolt that you had removed into it to pull the engine closer to the front. then remove the wires from the right bank and remove the plugs. make sure all the spark plugs are properly gapped using a spark plug gapper.. highly recommend that you use dielectric grease on the insides of the spark plug wire boots to prevent seizing and corrosion, then on the spark plugs use a small amount of anti-seize grease on the threads of the plugs also to prevent seizing and corrosion

Why would a Chevy Cavalier service light stay on?
This is what it says in the owners manual about the service light; "Take the car to a certified Chevy dealership for diagnosis". I had this light turn on this morning... couldn't figure it out until I googled it more. When I turned on the car it also made this odd clicking sound. Turns out the left head light was out.
More Information:
Ok, so this happened to my car. I would get in turn the car on and hear a rapid clicking sound and then the light would come on. The reason it was doing this was because one of my headlights had gone out. The major indicator was the rapid clicking noise. It was the same noise it always makes when you turn on the lights.
Check for the codes in the computer using either an obdi or obd 3 code readers depending on the year of the car. You can do tis free by going to a Checker or other car parts store. Because OBD2's store codes until it is actually repaired.
How do you check the transmission fluid levels on a 1997 Chevy cavalier with no dip stick?
Type your answer here... several of the newer general motors auto's (ours is a 1997) are whats called a "dealer service" transmission. this means that you are supposed to take your car to the dealer to have the fluid level checked, a bunch of crap i know, im going through it right now with my moms car. didnt even know such thing exited until i talked with my buddy that's a manager at jiffy lube. he told me about it and said that there not even allowed to touch the "dealer service" cars. the really crappy part is that the dealer basically just has a "dipstick"that's the correct length, they just pull the plug and poke it down in there to check it. so basically on these cars, gm just kept our dipstick so that they could charge us $75 an hour to check for us. nice huh? im on here now trying to figure out how much oil to put in the damn thing, cause im probably not gonna let the local dealer bend me over.
Did you recheck your connections to the fuel pump on top of the gas tank? Can you hear or feel any buzzing from the tank? Take off the hoses leading to the throttle body and spray some throttle body cleaner down into the throttle body with the blade open.......then try to start your engine. If it starts, then you do still have a fuel delivery problem. Next go get a fuel pressure gauge and attach it to the fuel rail and just turn the key on, the pump is electric and the engine does not need to be running and look at the pressure. Have pressure? Did you change out a new fuel filter when you had the pump changed out? If not.....some junk may have come loose and blocked your filter. If you did put a new fuel filter on , was it installed directionally correct? There is a fuel pump relay which will trip if you are in an accident and shut electirc off to the fuel pump. I do nto know where it is located on a Blazer........sorry........but there is some leads for you to work on before going to get another pump.
