If you know how to remove the dashboard and remove switch out of dash with wires still connected, then I can tell you the rest.
Place key in lock, turn to acessories or on position, notice on left side about midway a metal tab, depress and pull switch out. No wires are disconnected if you are just replacing the lock set, there is a small 3 wire connection inside that unplugs itself when you pull lock set out. Position new lock set in the same acsessories or on position which ever you use when you took it out and slide new lock set in. You can get the dealer to set new lock set up to use your original key when you buy it, take key with you. If you can't turn key at all you stil can get the lock set out but is much more difficult. You will need a dremel tool and will have to cut into the plastic body of switch just behind the rib where the metal release tab is located, make about 1/8 inch cut. You will find a metal strip, use needle nose pliers and break off strip, and pull it out. Turn over and shake the metal tab out of lock and lock set will now pull out. you will have to use needele nose pliers to reposition the roatating peice down inside the switch so new lock will line up to slide it in. If you need to replace the ignition switch and not just the lock set, disconnect the 2 wire harnesses at back of switch. the cable that is located there is for the shifter and can't be released unless brake pedal is pushed and the old switch is in of or acessories position.There might be a way to do this if you can't get your key to turn to the positions, but I haven't tried any yet. SPECIAL NOTE! You will have to reprogram the new lock set to the car! this will take about 30 minutes to do and you should have a battery charger on car battery. With car on charger and new lock set installed do the following exactly, pay close attention, ...... Turn key to "on" position and then turn to "start", release key back to "on" position and notice that the battery light and security light will sartt to flash bach an forth. They will flash for about 10 minutes. When they stop, the battery light will stay on, turn key back to the "off" position for 5 seconds, REPEAT THIS PROCESS 2 MORE TIMES(3 TOTAL). When you have completed this turn key back to "off" position and then go ahead and start the car. DO NOT REMOVE KEY AT THE END OF THE 3RD CYCLE! GO DIRECTLY TO "off WITH KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURN KEY TO START CAR. I should charge for this stuff!

to adjust idle on 2000 impala....Locate the accelerator cable on the throttle body.Have someone push down on the accelerator pedel while you observe the throtle body cable movements.You will notice a stop screw on the throtle body butterfly where it comes to rest against the throtle body.Turn the screw clockwise for more rpm, turn the screw counter clockwise for less rpm. I am not sure if any of the air filter componets need to be removed or not... Should't have to do this.Observe...you can do it...

There is a couple of nuts on the clutch rod and they jam or tighten against each other.Loosen the jam nut back off about 6 turns and then backoff (shorten) the other so that the travel of the rod is less. when you slightly depress the clutch you want 1 inch of play before you feel any resistance. when you have the 1 inch then tighten the 2 nuts against each other.

How do you change a battery on a 2006 Chevy Impala?
First you have to remove the fender brace completely so you have room to remove the battery. Then remove the negative cable FIRST it is the black one, and it should take a small end wrench to do so. Make certain the wrench you are using is short enough to NOT be able to reach across to the positive cable. Remove the positive cable next, and lay the cables where they can NOT touch one another or anything else in the compartment as there MIGHT be some residual electricity left in the system. Next remove anything which will block the battery from coming out of its' hole, then replace it with the same capacity or greater battery. To reinstall simply reverse the above procedure. Once you have the new battery in the hole, THEN and ONLY then hookup the positive cable FIRST, after it is completely secure then hook up the negative cable, finally reinstalling the fender brace (It is NECESSARY! do NOT leave it off just because it is a pain in the butt to mess with.) There was also a sortta felt cover/lining/ what ever around the battery when you pulled it out. IF it is NOT damaged beyond recognition, put it back also. Once you have the battery all nice and tucked in, you will have to reset your clock and radio presets. Good luck, if you follow the above processes, you should have no problem succeeding!

Brands such as Scosche and EFX are 2 cheaper brands, but seem to work just as well for less cash. Expect to pay anywhere from $10 to $120 (+) depending on the quality and length of the wires.

there should be a square hole in the tensioner arm that you use a breaker bar and an extension in the hole and just turn the tensioner whatever direction that will loosen the belt.
It is probably the lifters. I would try some oil addative for sticking lifters and let it stay in there for a couple of weeks and see if that helps. low on oil? until the oil is warmed up enough to flow freely it could make that noise if low on oil. a 2004? i'd take it back to the dealer, that is to new to have ANY problems. good luck TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, IF IT'S A 3.4L AND THEY TELL YOU IT'S NORMAL COLD START PISTON SLAP, THAT'S WHAT IT IS. THEY ALL DO IT. IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL, OTHER THAN INTAKE GASKETS, IT'S A VERY DEPENDABLE ENGINE.

i have a 2005 impala with these issues and five local tranny shops looked at my car and said its a common problem with (1) the valve body design, (2) weak clutch plates and (3) faulty solenoids. ... basically U need a rebuilt or remanufactured tranny ... DO NOT simply replace the tranny with another because it will have the same faulty parts inside that failed the first time ... U must have it REBUILT with AFTERMARKET improved parts because the standard stock parts will fail U again... hope this helps..... Sean G.
