How do you remove the interior door panel of a 2 door 2002 Oldsmobile Alero?
It is almost all snaps. There are two screws hidden under a little pop-off panel near the handle.
After you remove the small plastic panel (3/4" x 3") remove the two Phillips head screws located there, then go down to the small red plastic lens (reflector) and remove it by slipping a slot screwdriver under it and pry it off. There is another Phillips screw in the back of the hole. Remove it, then go to the bottom of the door and drill out the two pop rivets on the bottom panel of the door (please see comment below), then you can slide a large slot screwdriver between the door and the panel and pop the fasteners loose and lift the panel off the door. Be careful not to damage the paint on the door when using the large slot screw driver (you can also go and buy a specific tool to pop off the panel- it's angled, heavy plastic so it causes less damage (about $7 at Autozone)).
Oldsmobile changed the window regulator and motor. You will need to purchase a new window regulator with a motor ($80.00 on internet, or you can get a refurbished one for about $55). If the plastic part located at each end of the window is broken you can buy the new regulator clips at the dealer ($36 each), rather than buy a whole new regulator. The dealers want $175.00 for a window regulator and $200.00 for a motor plus labor to install.
Comment:
I just removed the Panel from a 2002 Alero and on my Car, found that it was not necessary to drill out the two Pop Rivets at the bottom of the panel. On my car, those rivets held 2 plastic parts of the door panel together and were not involved with holding the panel to the door frame. I would suggest removing just the 3 screws (2 near handle, 1 under reflector) and try popping off the panel. I used a wooden paint stirring stick to avoid damaging the paint
Comment: window switch housing -- the two panel screws under the switch housing also hold a bottom piece of the housing with vertical metal clips into the top part of the housing. Pry downwards on this bottom piece to release the upper part of the housing. Switches will then pop out for disconnection before removing door panel.
on most vehicles, this would indicate a leak, whether internal or external. First thing is to watch your exhaust smoke for white color, this indicates either blow by or a seal problem in most cases. I have the same problem with my 2002 impala and it is not likely that blowby is causing the oil consuption. The was a defect in the intake of some of the impala's equppied with 3.8 and the 3.4 liter engine. Go to your local dealer or auto parts store and purchase a bottle of black light reactive die that you puor into the oil. Afterr a week of normal driving shine a black light on the engine focusing more on the rear of the engine just below the intake and I almost guarantee that you will find the leak.
How do you remove the instrument cluster in a 2004 impala?
First you have to remove the dash panel, its all one piece and has about 4 screws holding it in along with various clips. The first screw is in the drives side fuse panel, then you should find 2 under the dash by your feet. remove the plastic cover first to find them.. the last one is in the passanger side fuse panel. once you have the screws reomved you simply need to pull the dash off starting at one side or the other. it helps here to tilt the steering wheel down as far as it will go. pull gently and you will hear the clips let go and the dash will come off, work one side to the other for smooth removal. Once you have the dash off you can see the cluster, there are 4 screws that hold the cluster in also. 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom. remove those screws and the cluster will be floating in place. when removing the cluster be careful not to pull too hard because you will have to disconnect the wiring harnesses before you can pull it out all the way. there are 3 harnesses if you have traction control, 2 if you dont. simply unclip the 4 way harness, the power harness, and if you have it - the traction control harness and the gauge cluster should be sitting in your lap!

You probably have mildew growing in the A/C evaporator case. Hopefully, your car is under warranty. Take it back to the dealer. GM has factory-approved procedures to help remove the odors from the A/C evaporator case. It involves spraying an industrial grade disinfectant into the air intake for the HVAC system, then letting it do its work. Hopefully the disinfectant will kill the mold. If it doesn't, the parts from the HVAC will need to be removed and cleaned, or possibly replaced. This is very costly and time-consuming repair work, so get back the car back to the dealership as soon as possible and get it covered under warranty.

twist oil filler collar (below the cap) counter clockwise about 1/4 turn, it will then pull out. Then pull rear end of plastic cover tab out of the hole that it "plugs" into, and lift cover off. All that holds it on is the tab sticking into the hole at the back, and the oil filler collar at the front.
