make sure the battery charged up, put a volt meter on the battery with the van running and see what the output voltage is, 13.5-14.5. if the voltage reading is low the problem is the alternator or regulator(which is inside the alternator) you will need to replace the alternator I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. BEFORE YOU SPEND ANY MONEY, IS YOUR ALTERNATOR LIGHT COMING ON [ A LIL BATT TO YOUR TOP LEFT ] IF YOU DON'T SEE IT YOU PROBLEM IS THERE. GM VEHICLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM, WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY [NO STARTING] THE ALTERNATOR LITE [THE LIL BATT TO YOUR LEFT] IS NOT ON THE ALTERNATOR WILL NOT CHARGE SO CHECK THAT LITE SOMETIME THE BULB IS BURN BUT MOST OF THE TIME BETWEEN THE BULB AND THE CONNECTION TO CHECK THE BULB OR CONNECTION, REMOVE TWO SCREW BETWEEN EACH END OF THE CLUSTER DASHBOARD THEN LIFT THE DASHCOVER P.S IF YOUR ALTERNATOR LITE COME ON WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY THEN YOUR ALTERNATOR IS BAD OR YOUR BATT CAN'T HOLD A CHARGE
Why does your Lumina Euro die while you are driving and when you stop?
I have a 1990 Lumina Euro 3.1 that done this and it about drove me crazy. I had replaced all 3 coil packs and thought it fixed it but then it happened again. Come to find out it was the ECM that sits directly under the coil packs. It's fairly easy to replace but the starter wire is in the way of the center coil pack, so you may have to remove it. Hope this helps.

The sensor for the water temp. in the dash will be screwed into the drivers side head between the first 2 spark plugs up front. Now if you are looking for the coolant temp sensor Then that will be screwed into the top front of the intake manifold just to the left of the thermostat housing.

How do you replace the turn signal switch located on a 1996 Chevy Lumina?
Access to the turn signal switch (stalk) is done by removing the steering wheel...this is a very complicated mechanical component (many springs, bolts, etc), it is best left to a mechanic.
Answer1st disconect the battery so you do not inadvertently blow the air bag. Using a Torx #27 remove the two screws that secure the airbag to the steering wheel. Disconnect your air bag from the single yellow wire via a clip that is held in by a green safety lock tab (remove the tab disconnect the clip). Place the assembly in a secure location so it will not be damaged. Using a 21mm socket remove the steering wheel nut. Mark the location of the steering wheel with regards to its position on the geared shaft that it is mounted too. Use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel. NOTE: DO NOT TRY AND REMOVE THE STEERING WHEEL ANY OTHER WAY; YOU WILL RUIN IT IF YOU DO. Using a paint pen mark the location of the airbag switch remove the snap ring and put it to the side as the wire will not allow you to put it far from the colum. A pair of snap ring pliers should do the job (various sizes exist so buy a set of good ones). The steering lock ring is what you see next mark it to its reference on the shaft. It is secured by a c clip. find the end of the clip, position it to get a scribe or an awl under one end now push on the ring to one side this will allow you to manuver the clip off the shaft. Remove the clip and ring. Next is the plastic ring with a carbon side and a copper side that acts as a conductor for the horn remove it. Next remove the plastic cover piece that is over the turn signal, wiper, cruise control switch, remove two screws that secure the lever to the turnsignal switch remove it from the colum and set it to the side of the colum total remal is not possible at this time due to wire harness. Three Torx screws secure the the turn signal switch reomove them. Next you need too remove the lower part of the dash on the drives side to access the harness from hte colum. It is located on the right side of the drivers side under the dash just above the hump before the fire wall. 7mm socket will back it out of the socket (keep backing it out until you see the the harness plug push back. One which is the upper plug is black the lower is grey and it is for your cruise, wiper washer cotrols. lift on the center of the plug and push in the direction of the recepticle this will disconnect your signal harness from the union with the other harness (sorry about the lack of nomenclature). Now you can snake the harness up the colum and out. Install in reverse order.How do you remove the headlight switch from the dash panel from a 96 Chevy Lumina?

Gently remove the side cover tab(s) by sticking a flat screwdriver in the slot and prying it. NOTE: the tab is notorious for breaking during this operation and it costs $6 to replace (you have to buy it from a dealer). If it sticks at all, put some WD40 on it and push it back in. Work it back and forth to get the WD40 on the area that is sticking. If you are still having trouble, use something like a dental pick (rigid, very small diameter, with a bend in it) by sticking it into the crack where you can and using it to pull on the tab piece.
Once you have the tab off, remove the Phillips screw. The light lens assembly can now be pulled out (but it will be held to the van by the wires. The bulb mount twist locks into the back of that assembly.
The bulb simply pulls straight out of the mount. Once you replace it, just reverse the process.
Check your manual. I believe it is mounted inside the fuel tank although another poster mentioned some cars have an access panel. You probably have to drop the gas tank.

If the 91 is like the 93 the fan/blower motor is against the firewall on the inside of the vehickle on the pasenger side. To remove it you mus get to it which involves "loosing" some other things. The easiest way to get in and get it out is to lay the passenger seat down flat and go in with your head under the dash looking up towards the car roof. You will need: a nutdriver, a flashlight, alot of patience.

The lifters will "tap" until the oil builds up enough to hold them up. Make sure that the engine has enough oil, that the oil pressure is ok, and that the oil does not need changing. I assume you are asking about later model S10's that have the automatic photo sensor that turns the headlights on automatically when it gets dark The only way to get the lights off in darkness is to PARK, turn off ignition, set parking brake, and then re-start engine. Once you release the parking brake, the lights will come on. and while driving switch the manual control to headlighs on, press the dome override button back to back about 4 times and a ding will then signal manual headlights. just make sure your headlights are on cuz i was playing one night and blacked out on the highway.. haha
