The ambient temperature guage is faulty and needs to be replaced. I purchased a replacement part from a GM dealer for $19.00. Checked several after market places and the part ran from $22.00 to $26.00. I have a 02 Trailblazer LT. The guage that I purchased had a bracket attached to the sensor. The sensor is located in the upper right front(as you face the engine)near the radiator. On my truck there is a round brace that runs from the right fender to the brace in front of the radiator. Just to the left of the brace there is a bracket that hold the grill in place. Between the brace and the bracket there is a space. Just below the bracket there is a plastic gray/green device. That is the temperature sensor. Make sure radiator is cool when replacing this item. You could get burned. I took a flat blade screw driver and popped the sensor out the the hole which holds it. Then you can pull the sensor toward you by pulling up on the wire which run to the instrument panel. The green header has a clip which can be disconnected from the gray plastic holder. (In my case, the bracket that was purchased with the part does not need to be used. However, the picture at the GM parts department indicated that is was required.) After replacing the new sensor, rerun the sensor/wire back into place and from the back side of the bracket push the device back into the hole. It snaps into place. Your done. I asked for a quote from the dealer to replace the sensor and they quoted $250.00. Not sure they knew what they were talking about.... if they did, I'm in the wrong type of work. Hope that helps.
What causes the ticking noises in 1994 Mercury Topaz when in idle?
Sounds like you are hearing lifter noise. If this engine has solid lifters, then they can be adjusted to remove most of the noise. If it has hydraulic lifters, try pouring one can of Seafoam Cleaner in the crankcase with the oil. Seafoam can be purchased at most auto parts stores. Drive the car for 500 miles and then change the oil & filter. Repeat if necessary. This may or may not help.

How do you change the power steering pump in a 2004 Trailblazer?
First, you have to loosen the Serpentine belt. This releases the pressure from the power steering pump pulley.
Then, you have to remove the THREE bolts holding the pump on the bracket. There are holes in the pulley wheel that allow you to pass a socket/extension thru in order to loose all three of 'em. You might have to rotate the pulley a little bit in order to reach each bolt.
Once the bolts are off, unscrew the lines that run into the bottom of the pump. Remove the pump/reservoir all at once.
Remove the reservoir from the pump with a flat-head screw driver. Two clips that need to be lifted and slid are the only thing holding the reservoir on it. And you have to slid the reservoir out of the pump (a small circle that you just pop out and eventually press back in when you're ready to install the reservoir back on the new pump.)
That's basically how you get it off. Reverse the steps to get it back on!

How do you install a block heater?
The port for the block heater is a small hole approx. the size of a quarter located on the windshield side of the motor, closer to the driver side of the car. It is just below the head (top part of motor) in the cylinder block. Make sure the hole is clean of dirt and debris by blowing it out, then simply push the heater element in until it clicks, that's it!
...well then you should plug the cord in... but that's it I swear!
I have a 94 Grand Cherokee, and the Block heater is on the drivers side front of the block. From under the front, you can see it, about 1/2 way up. Your plug, as your asking, if I get it right, comes out from there, just follow the cord till you find the end.
