If it is like my 94 Lebaron you must remove the right rear tire. Then unscrew the fuel tube,in the gas cap area, and then you must lower the gas tank. You pull the fuel tube out of the tank. It has a rubber gromet so you need to twist the tube until you pull it out- about 8 inches is in the tank. Good luck.

Very Carefully! I'm not sure about an '88, but on a '91 there are a couple of notches on one of the cranks and on a mounted piece of metal where they are supposed to line up. You have to take off pretty much everything, serpentine belt (if there is one), crank shaft, idler pulley, the engine mount, and probably the alternator. When you get everything taken off, get a pretty big ratchet or breaker bar and turn the crank until the marks line up. Good luck.
