This category includes all the questions and answers to relate things with their similarities and to distinguish with their differences that decide their specific nature in contrast to their counterparts being compared.

Comparison between conventional cellular radio system and satellite based cellular radio system?

Satellite-based cellular systems

In addition to the terrestrial systems, in recent years satellite-based telephone systems have been under construction. With such a system it is possible to make a connection with a cellular phone all around the world, especially in those regions currently not covered by a terrestrial system. In contrast with other satellite communication systems, satellite-based phone systems operate in the Low Earth Orbit (780 km high), and are therefore called LEO systems. The satellites work differently from those at a much higher orbit (36,000 km) in two major ways. First, the small distance between earth and satellite makes it possible to connect to the system with a handheld device. Second, signals can be moved overhead in between satellites without the use of base stations on the earth. In the near future, operators will supply services in which terrestrial and satellite communication are integrated.

Like in the terrestrial systems, the satellites operate on certain frequencies, that have to be selected in such a way that interference is avoided. Not only frequencies are needed to communicate with handheld devices, but also to establish communication between satellites and ground stations, and between satellites mutually.

cellular telecommunication networks

One of the most recent applications of wireless communication is the establishment of fixed cellular telecommunication networks. In contrast to mobile cellular networks, in non-mobile or fixed systems both the transmitters and receivers are located at fixed points in the area. Fixed cellular networks provide a financially attractive alternative to the construction of conventional wired networks in developing countries, where no

What are the pros and cons of calotype?

Calotype-lit. beautiful image or type, is an obsolete photographic technique that is somewhat similar to Daguerrotype. As far as I knwo it is obsolete and no modern outfits make any kits or supplies for its usage. It may have used wet plates which pose operational and these days environmental-chemical disposal problems. It is not obsolete for nothing. I am only aware of calotype as a historical reference, not anything recent or revived. It"s a bit like talking about modern restaurants int he same paragraph with Western Chuck-wagons. Calotype is obsolete and to the best of my knowledge stays that way. on the other hand there have been both Black and white and color revivals (commercially) of pre-taken modern Daguerrotypes on metal*These are sold as the so-called refrigerator magnets, photos of celebrities. These are gift items, not hobby stuff or do-it-youself kits.l some caution is advisable. as far as is know Calotype is not only O(bsolete but as a living processk, EXTINCT.

Unlike the dunce above me, who doesn't recognize the historical significance of the calotype process, I would be more than happy to try to list the pros and cons of the calotype process. The advantages of the calotype process over it's rival the daguerreotype were the fact that it made use of a negative, which an unlimited number of copies could be made from. Another advantage was the calotype's use of printing on paper, which was easier to examine, and infinitely less delicate than the glass or tin daguerreotype mediums. The calotype made use of warmer tones, and retouching could be made to the image on the negative OR the positive. The cons however, were the calotype's main downfall in becoming popular in Europe or America. The materials the calotype used were less sensitive to light than those of the daguerreotype, adding more time to the already lengthy process. While the paper was far more durable, it also held imperfections that comprised the quality of the final print, and did not hold the same sharp definition as daguerreotype images. Other small cons included the fact that the prints tended to fade over time, and the process required two steps (making the negative, then the positive from the negative). Hope this helps!

Compare and contrast elements and compounds.?

Substances are either elements or compounds. Elements are substances in their simplest form that cannot be separated further through chemical reactions. Examples of elements are oxygen (O2), carbon (C2), and hydrogen (H2). Compounds are compositions of two or more elements. Examples of compounds are water (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), and sodium chloride - table salt (NaCl).

Can split personality syndrome be caused by the patient's willingness to separate themselves from evil by creating an evil character to see themselves as good in comparison to the evil person?

No, split personality syndrome is caused more by a person not wanting to believe a horrible thing they've done. So to cope with the event they create another "person" and blame that person for the event.

How does Krakatoa's eruption compare to an atomic bomb explosion?

First you have to realize that the yield of the explosion of an atomic bomb is not a fixed value, the US has designed and fielded pure fission atomic bombs with yields as low as about 10 tons of TNT to as high as 500 kilotons of TNT and using fusion in the design yields as high as 25 megatons were designed and fielded. The USSR designed a 100 megaton bomb (but only tested it at 50 megatons and never actually fielded it). Edward Teller proposed designing a gigaton range bomb but the design was rejected as having no military value (most of the blast of such a bomb would just go upward, just blowing all the atmosphere directly above the burst off into space). There is no theoretical limit for an atomic bomb that uses fusion to drive the fission of depleted uranium (U--238 which cannot support a neutron chain reaction but will fission from high energy fusion neutrons, and is plentiful).

The energy released from the 1883 explosion of Krakatoa has been estimated to be equal to about 200 megatons of TNT (about 4 times that of the largest atomic test ever done: the USSR's 50 megaton device mentioned above). But unlike an atomic bomb Krakatoa's fallout was not radioactive.

How are elements differentiated by one another and why?

Each chemical element has a specfic number of protons - this is the identity.

What are pros and cons of directional tires?

"directional tires" refers to tire with eitherasymmetrical or rotational tread patterns.

Pros of rotational tires:

1) generally better resistance to hydroplaning than traditional tread patterns

2) generally better stopping than traditional tread patterns

3) generally better heat dispersal than traditional tread patterns

4) typically look pretty nifty

Cons of rotational tires:

1) cannot "cross" during tire rotation

2) if used for a full-size spare, likely to lose benefits in "pros"

3) Are more likely to be "performance tires" (check with your tire seller) with a shorter expected tread life than some other tires. This is not always so.

Pros of asymmetrical tires:

1) Typically better cornering stability

2) Allows for multi-compound tread for reduced shoulder wear (longer tread life at the edges) and better temperature control

Cons of asymmetrical tires:

1) must be replaced exclusively in pairs (axle sets) to prevent 'tire pull'

Why are US troops so undertrained in comparison to other Nations troops?

Always consider the SOURCE when asked this question. Are US Troops really "under-trained"? Who says? Why do they say so? By comparison to whom? What makes the individual qualified (expert) to make such a statement? Is the individual whom the statement came from, a combat veteran who fought against a worthy foe? Is the individual with whom the statement came from, a combat veteran who fought against an EASY enemy (which does not say much about the combat experience)? Is the individual with whom the statement came from, an individual who never served in the military and/or never fought in actual combat? Always consider the source.

What is the difference between a spoils system and the merit system?

In the spoils system, also known as the patronage system, elected officials give government jobs to their supporters, friends, and relatives, regardless of how qualified they are for the job. In the merit system, government employees are hired or promoted based on their ability to perform a job, regardless of their political connections.

Will a civic d15b7 engine work with a d15b8 tranny?

Yes. All D-Series motors will bolt up to any D-series transmission. The only difference between the two transmission is the final drive ratio. the b8 transmission will give better mileage but less acceleration.

What is the degrees of comparison for the word crowd?

The word "crowd" is a noun, and nouns cannot be compared-- they can just have a singular (only one of them) or a plural (more than one). But the adjective is "crowded." You can compare the word crowded like this: crowded, more crowded, the most crowded. (Some adjectives are compared with an -er and an -est, like big/bigger/biggest. But crowded cannot be compared that way.)

Does the superlative degree of comparison usually end in Er?

superlative adjectives use 'the'. They end with 'est' or add 'most' before the adj.

The biggest house. The most beautiful woman.
