How do you get rid of cramps while running?

It all depends on where your cramps are. Cramps occur when your body isn't getting enough oxygen to the target area. Breathe deep, keep your form straight, and above all else keep your head up. The most common mistake when it comes to cramps is to look down. Looking down constricts your air flow, which will only worsen the cramps.

Also I wanted to add: drink plenty of water. Always stay hydrated; also eat bananas and a lot of fruit

And if your cramps are in your stomach keep breatheing deeply.

Why do cross country runners need cardiovascular endurance?

Tennis players require muscular endurance because they are usually involved in physical activity that can last for hours. They need to have endurance of the shoulder and arm to stabilize the shoulder and generate forces to hit shots.

What is the largest high school cross country team in the United States?

Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado 96 members.

Green Hope High School in Cary NC has over 215 runners!

Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, KS has over 230 runners

A school in Illinois that I don't know the name of has over 400 guys (Just guys) on the team and 300 girls. There is a movie made about it called Green Running.

My team definitely has the most athletes compared to any other sport at our school. We have close to 100 runners this year. Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton Colorado. We have state next weekend and we are going to dominate!

Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, CO gets close to 300 runners per year.

--------------------------------

I'm not sure that there is a movie about any school in Illinois called Green Running, but there is a movie about York Community High school, in Elmhurst, IL called Long Green Line. but that's all I can think of. York's in my high school's conference.

My high school (Lyons Township High School in La Grange, IL) girl's XC team is the largest in the nation. We had over 300 members in 2007, and it fluctuates every year of course, but it is always more than 260.

I think that is the name of the movie. I couldn't remember exactly. We watched it at cross country camp last year. That is a lot of members at your school...and just girls. Do you have a lot of sports at your school because at our school we have football, womens and mens tennis, womens and mens soccer, womens and mens basketball, hockey, women's swimming, wrestling, womens lacrosse, baseball, softball,.... you get the point. Many people are involved in those sports therefore leaving only 100 people for cross country.

How are the results recorded in athletics?

This answer needed to be corrected. Recording Track and Field events is as scientific as is possible under the practical circumstances. For simple meets a field event might be recorded with a measuring tape, but when a record exists a minimum of a steel measuring tape (read by 3 certified officials) is required. At bigger meets they might also employ a laser/surveying system for speed. Vertical measurements are taken both before and after a record attempt.

For running events hand run stopwatches might be used at smaller meets but for record purposes (excepting some long distance events) Fully Automatic Time is required. Fully Automatic Time--FAT is a photo electric process (now using computers, though older systems did not) that starts the electronic clock with the sound of the gun. The time for a given athlete is measured by the time his body passes the finish line as seen through a narrow photographic image of the line taken by a camera. The older photographic system used Polaroid film moving the opposite direction to the runners and a vertical aperture (with a pulsing LED inside the camera for calibration). The current computer/video system takes up to 10,000 single vertical scan lines a second and assembles them side by side relative to the time. These pictures then must be read for the time to be determined.

How do you get better at cross country?

you get better by going out to do a mile everyday and u will cut down minutes by alot!

Answer:doing a mile every day is good but once you build up your endurance start going 2 miles, then 3 miles, then 4 miles and so on. also hills, sprints, and repetitions help. it is also a good idea to work on your leg muscles in a gym.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My coach has us do 15-30 minute runs. Hills, and sprints will do ya good. Also do different grounds to get you used to different tracks.

What would be better for a track sprinter in the offseason Swimming or XC Cross Country?

Cross Country. It incorporates running.

I do cross country, but not track... in the track season I play softball! :) I think you should to XC if you can run at least 2 miles without getting tired!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a trick, NOTHING can replace running. NOTHING, cross-country would be best. I did cross-country first then did track to keep me in the running mood. Cross-country is a very good running sport, and is much more competitive. But sometimes you're better at sprinting than running distance, or sometimes you're better at distance than sprinting.

Try it out and see if you like it!

I run Cross Country but I need my leg muscles stronger but How do you build your leg muscles?

Take it from someone in varsity cross country since 7th grade(im a junior). You need to work with protein. Water, protein and exercise is what muscles like so they can get stronger. Whether its your hamstrings, quadriceps, calves, etc; you need to work on exercises such as lunges, uphill running, and things that really burn in those areas. Keep in mind that you are going to feel sore in those areas if not work on recently so make sure you take a couple minutes to stretch when you wake up and before you go to bed. And DRINK TONS OF WATER!
