The water pump is driven by the timing belt. That is the belt that turns the camshaft. The entire front (Driver's side) of the engine must be dis-assembled and the cam timing must be re-set. It is not the kind of job a back-yard guy can do unless he is very familiar with this job and has the engine-specific tools required to set the cam timing. if the job is done and the cam timing is wrong, the valves will smash into the tops of the pistons when the engine is turned over. This pretty much destroys the top-end of the engine. Buy a repair manual and the right tools.

The water pump is driven by the timing belt on our '92 Dynasty 3.0 V-6, which I would assume is similar if not the same as a '93. You must remove a/c compressor, power steering pump, and front engine mount to access the timing belt and water pump. I would recommend a detailed repair manual to go by. It took me about 12 hours over two days to access and change the water pump and timing belt.

The Camshaft Position Sensor is located behind the Power Steering Pump.

On the 4.7, the thermostat housing is at the end of the lower radiator hose. It is at the top for all other V8's.

the only ones i know of had problems,namely the wiring harness can become shorted out.

This is a bad vehicle. If you want an SUV, go with the explorer. I bought my durango used, but fairly new. It's running hot and I've had mechanic after mechanic, including dodge dealership look it over, and no one can find the problem. You'll replace window motors every year, and when sensors go bad, you won't get a code.

Yes, Durangos are great vehicles if properly maintained.

The thermostat for a 2003 4.7 is at the end of the bottom hose not the top. The 2003 4.7 is the only one at the bottom. You have to undo the bottom hose from the engine and the gasket is the rubber around the thermostat and the spring goes on the engine side.

1. Drain cooling system and dispose of coolant properly.

2. Remove lower hose from entry at thermostat housing connected at engine block and remove thermostat housing.

3. Remove old thermostat and replace with new thermostat spring side on engine side, there is also a tab that aligns with thermostat housing to prevent improper installation.

4. Replace thermostat housing.

5. Replace lower radiator hose.

6. Fill cooling system with manufacture directed coolant and check for leaks.

7. Run engine until thermostat opens and bleed air from cooling system.

Most parts stores have manuals for everything on your vehicle. either haynes or I can't think of the name for the other one right off hand. once you get the door panel off it's pretty straight forward, just have someone help hold the window or use some duct tape to hold it up to keep the window from dropping

4.5 qts. with a filter change

They can be found in the owners maintainence or repair manual. If not, they can be found in the Haynes repair manuals, or any other certified repair manual.

It is part of the pcm on the passenger side firewall.

The 2006 Scion xB has front wheel drive.

It would fit, but the engine will not run. The 2005 uses a different computer with different tone wheels inside the engine for the cam and crank sensors.

check the coolant level, or, possible stuck thermostat.

Always replace inner and outer wheel bearings on the same wheel at the same. You don't necessarily have to replace the bearings in both wheels at the same time, though it's not a bad idea, but always inner and outer on the same wheel at the same time.

pull the tensionor toward the radiator to loosen the belt holding it forward pull the belt off and take the housing loose then unbolt the water pump and take it off the old gasket loose then replace with the new gasket and water pump the new gasket only fits up one way so test fit it on the water pump first until the bolt holes line up then put it on bolt it up put the housing back on pull the tensionor back again and place th belt back on according to the diagram on the cover fill the resovoir with 50 50 anti freeze and start the car then take th bleeder valve near the water pump loose not off rev the car and wait until antifreeze begins to show loosen th bleeder a lil more to finish getting all of the air out when the anti freeze stops bubbling tighten the blleder back up and you are through

this kind of thing happens in my durango when i have the ac on and its humid inside the car.

I have a 95 Continental and it should be the same. On the driver side of engine is a round plastic cylinder shaped housing with snap clips on it. Pop it open and remove the cylinder shaped filter & install the new one and relock the clips very simple to do. that car also has a filter to filter the air entering the interior of the car through your heater - Ac system. It is located on the passenger side of car up by the windshield,( should have sticker identifing location ) it can be replaced by opening the hood and removing 2 screws , removing plastic cover and lift out filter. also, they have a K&N lifetime filter for about $40 that i have installed that saves me from buying air filters in the future. you just clean then K&N when it gets dirty. Steve
