My 98 Stratus has two belts, on for the power steering and the other is the alternator belt. To get access to the belt a cover over the alternator must be remove. A 10mm socket on an extension is useful. Remove the old belt loosen the mounting bolts for the alternator and loosen the tensioning bolt. This bolt is mounted on the side of the alternator, facing the front of the car. Take note of the routing and check the underside of the hood for a diagram of the routing. Slide the old belt off the idler and remove then replace the new belt on in the same fashion. Note: the Dodge Stratus has a cover under vechile covering the belt and oil pan. I found it extremly useful to remove this cove to have access to the AC compressor and CrankShaft. Don't forget to tighten the belt using the alternator adjusting screw. Good Luck!

It depends on the plug. Ask the person you buy the plugs from. Or if you get them at Wal-Mart or somewhere like that, they have a catalog or a computer for checking it.

Open the trunk you should be able to pull back the carpet against the back it might have clips or screws holding it if so remove them then pull back the carpet and you should be able to access the lights just pull it out some require a half turn first then simply change the bulb!

Note: On the 2005 Stratus 4dr SXT, when you pull back the carpet you must unscrew 3 large plastic wing nuts so that the tail light assembly can pulled away from the frame to get to the bulb. But still a very easy fix :)

Also Check the Distributor Cap (cheap). Had the same problem. Tip may be worn and only send a short spark and when hot, does not work.

The fuel filter is on the driver side above the gas tank. You have to look hard to see it but it is there. Dodge does not call for a service of this filter so unless you are getting some bad gas over a long period of time you probably do not need to change it. But if you do decide to you will need to loosen the fuel filler neck from the tank. Put a jack under the tank (make sure the tank is no more than a quarter full) and loosen the two retaining straps. Gently lower the tank you can now access the fuel filter. Just loose the two ends from the line. Installation reverse of removal.

Believe it or not, you have to do it through the driver's side front wheel well. It is easiest if you remove the wheel first in order to give you enough room to work. Once you locate it, the rest is possible with typical hand tools.

my 99 was located rite above the oil filter. you will need to take the filter off after drain the oil of course and get a special socket to fit it. your local auto parts store can get the rite socket for you.

factory manuals, available from internet or phone, I buy from the manual manufactures call center. if you need to look up where your vacuum hoses go then look for a sticker under the hood or find the same make and model in your local junk yard or write down your vin number , take to the dealer, and order the sticker for under hood . genaric diagrams should be available at your local library or they can get it for you.
