Ford Contour

If it is a V6 Durotec 24 valve- the Oil filter is near the front of the engine on the bottom side. It is at an angle in a close spot on the front of the engine. You need a swivel socket on the end of the filter removal cap.

on the 4 cylinder it's on the bottom of the thermostat housing, main radiator hose area. it has a metal clip type connector on it. the one on top is the coolant sensor.

Can you open back seat and look fuel pump then replace fuel pump easy job. I did my car. Wendell

There are two temperature units on the thermostate housing of a 2.0. One under the top radiator hose and one on top of the housing itself. The one under the hose sends to the temp gauge and the other turns the radiator fan on at the correct temperature. Hope this helps you.

On a 1999 Ford Contour :

In the passenger compartment fuse panel

( # 27 is a 15 amp fuse for the cigar lighter )

Take your battery to Napa and have them test the cold cranking amps, they'll tell you whether or not you need a new battery

They are self adjusting. Some sdjust when backing up and hitting the brakes and some by using the parking brake. You can also adjust them by removing the rear drums.

When you put the pump in the filler, are you putting it all the way in? If so, try pulling the pump out about halfway and then pump it. It makes a world of difference.

many things to determine...

motor being the most relevant. Many of the parts from 4 cylinder motors are interchangable. As are, V6.

But, there are differences if it is SVT or not

first thing you're going to think I'm a turd for saying an opinion but its a ford... never get a ford because its been around since like the 20's and they STILL haven't gotten it right..... DITCH THE FORD AND GET A DODGE OR CHEVY.

I would look toward Fuel Filter, MAF sensor, or maybe the fuel pump.

According to the 1998 Ford Contour SVT supplement :

The original tires were the ( Goodyear Eagle F1-GS , size P205 / 55 ZR-16 )

Pretty sure that it is in front of engine directly above AC Compressor and to the right side of harmonic balancer of Crankshaft. It is mounted horizontally with 2 wires connected.

look and if there is a key pad on the drivers side or passenger side dooror if have a remote some time there might be a relay under neath the dash somewhere or u can take your vin no and the ford dealer or company
