Are you using an original key, or a replacement that has the proper security computer chip located in the fat plastic part of the key? If not, the car's security system will keep the ignition locked and will not allow you to turn the ignition switch. ALSO: some earlier models of Focus had ignition switches that were a problem. If you ARE using the correct key and can't turn the switch to start the car anymore, the ignition switch may have to be replaced.

The 2008 Ford Focus has a timing chain, not a timing belt. The Focus has used a timing chain sense 2005. Timing chains are designed to last the life of the engine.

On the lower dash, knee-high, theres a little door looks like an ash tray. Pull it off, fuses are behind it.

OK....so it's not the plugs or the coil. Spitting and sputtering sounds electrical. These computer controlled engines can be extremely hard to diagnose. You might try replacing the distributor cap and rotor. A small crack can cause some very significant spitting and sputtering. After that it's time to put it on an engine analyzer.

ask a local car shop if you live near one. i am not a car erson, but if i were you, i would have a little look for your battery

Measure them. They should be 22" and 19" but mine has an 18" on the passenger's side.

Someone probably fitted the wrong one in time gone by but it's always worth measuring then checking against any supplier

for this ,need to open whole interior of the doot ,then its really easy to chnge it.

If it's like my 2001, you need to take out the dash, because they put ty-raps on EVERYTHING and you need to also thread the new cable through, almost an impossibility, otherwise.

To replace front side light, first remove headlight as described in owners handbook. Where the book says that there is two prongs that need sqeezing to remove side light, you just need to pull hard! The nice Ford garage showed me this morning. Thanks guys.

the low side service port is behind the passanger side inner fender well most people will pull the wheel off then the inner fender but i have found it easier just to lay on the ground and reach in behind the fender there is a larger black cap that you have to remove to access the service port

it could be the odb-1 testor plug. that is the computer diagonistic plug. It is hard to say without seeing the engine compartment. hope it helps. duboff.
