Ford Probe

Not that i know of, but ! There is a 6-speed in the newer celica GTS model, and that transmission will bolt up to the 2.2 Non Turbo engine in the MR2 as well as the turbo engine... But the problem is getting the shift linkage hooked up, the rear engine has a shift linkage on the front of the transmission, and the FWD has a linkage on the rear of the transmission.

That 6-speed transmission will NOT bolt to a 5sfe, 3sge or 3sgte engine. There are currently no 6 speed options. there might be a 6 speed depending on 09 its not confirmed yet though so keep the fingers crossed

If it's the same as the 1996 Ford Probe , it's in the hatch area - lift the carpet in the drivers rear area of the cargo area , you will see a rubber cap / plug , push the raised area of the plug in order to reset the fuel shut off switch

Depends! It may have great speed power ,but most fords do not last as long I would try forgin cars better choice and wise move hey may save some gas!

If you have to pump the pedal, I'd think that means the pressure is building up enough to shift. So, there may be air in the system and it may need bleeding, much like brakes.

On the Ford Probe 93-97 GT's the knock sensor is located underneath the intake manifold. More specifically it is threaded into a fitting on the deck of the engine block in between the heads in the Valley. Shouldn't be too bad if your an experienced mechanic or a mechanically inclined individual. Hope this helps ya out, and good luck.

get a pair of pliers and grab the cable attached to the the hood popper and pull while pulling the hood lever it should pop open

On my 97 3.8L V6 the bolt was threded backwards rather than righty tighty.

its possible to do anythign, as long as you wanna put the work into it.. if its the same motor its easier...make sure you do all the pedals, and you will have to swap the computer too

Remove belt tentioner bolt and belt (from top), and support bolt (from bottom). Remove driver wheet and unbolt sway bar, replace wheel. Remove passenger wheel and support vehicle. Remove sway bar bolt, sway bar can now swing up and down. Remove lower splash cover. Remove alternator from opening in fender well while pushing down on sway bar. Replace in reverse order.

Take the back seat bottom cushion out (2 clips under the cushion) Once that's out of the way, you will see a panel with 4 screws and a wire harness coming out of it. Obviously unplug the harness and unscrew the screws. You should now see the top of the fuel sending unit. There will be the fuel sending line and a return line going into it. There should be fuel pressure unless you have already relieved it. I just used a 20 oz bottle to catch the fuel that's still under pressure. After you've got the hoses off, there will be about 8 very tiny screws. Take those out and youre fuel sending unit is free. You should see how to simply replace the pump. Make sure the gasket is properly seated on the fuel sending unit when you reinstall it!!

There is no such thing as a 2,6L. It is a 2.5L. The firing order is, 1 3 5 2 4 6

the thermostat is located under the thermostat housing on the front of the motor where the top rad hose connects to.

The 93-97 Ford Probe/Mazda MX-6, Ford Contour 95-97/Mercury Mystique/Mazda 626, Mercury Cougar, and Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner, Mazda Tribute all had the same 4 Spd Automatic Transmission.

This model had one major problem. It overheats.

The Flashing O/D light is telling you that the transmission fluid is too hot and will cause the transmission to shift hard. Usually folks will turn the car off and then restart and the light stops flashing and the transmission shifts normally.

Ford will tell you that the transmission is bad and needs to be replaced. This may be the case if the fluid has been allowed to burn and run extensively without replacement.

Here's the fix for this problem that seems to work for most cars that have not been driven too long with this problem.

Certified Transmission will power flush your Transmission and cooling system that is located in the radiator for approx. $160. This should be done every 30,000 miles anyway. The C4RD transmission has no filter in the pan, only a screen. It can be changed, but requires the transmission to be removed since the pan is located on the front of the Transmission behind the radiator and below the battery on the drivers side.

You will also need to install an external transmission cooler on the front of the radiator behind the grill. Trust me this is a good thing. Spend the money and buy the stacked fin type versus the tube and fin type. Both will work, but the stacked fin type cools almost 4 times as well for the size. Flush the system and have a cooler installed also. You can also install an external oil filter assembly behind the grill giving you the option to change the filter every 10,000 miles without having to drain the system.

Basically behind the radiator, you'll see two lines coming from the transmission that screw into the tanks. Cut one line with a pipe cutter like one used for brake lines (no shavings). Then using transmission line rubber tubing, divert the flow into your cooler and oil filter, then back to the line to the transmission. Takes a few hours but saves your transmission on wear and tear and extends the life.

Also, the shaky idle may be a tune up, if not, then check the idle air control motor ($78). It's located on the throttle body and allows air to bypass the throttle butterfly valve when it's closed. The motor gets weak or is dirty. If dirty, use ONLY Throttle body cleaner, NOT Carb Cleaner. Also check your vacuum lines for loose connections or breaks.

How can you have a manual shift and auto in the same car. Which one do you have? this car has a button on shifter that puts it in man shift mode it is an auto

It may be the water pump.

Remove the wheels, then the bolt that holds the pin that holds the caliper on. Drive the pin out then depress the piston completely in the caliper. Make sure to use the anti squeek grease or shims when reassembling it.

Filter is mounted on the left side engine/transmission mount. Under the cruise control actuator.

no but if you can find an 88 to 92 tranny it will work fine

YOU DONT!! Take it to a REPUTABLE shop to have it done...one wrong move and you need an engine!! Unless you work on these or Mazdas for a living just dont do it!!
