The only way to tell if someone is or is not a Freemason is if there is a public record of their membership. Some members keep their membership quiet and their lodges respect their confidentiality. That is their right. But in most cases Masons are proud of their membership and are quite prepared to tell you which Lodge they joined and when.

It is impossible to know anything about anyone's Masonic membership by looking for secret hand signs in a person's public appearances, or watching their handshakes.

If they do not (and most American masons are quite happy to admit it) their Lodges and their brothers will respect their confidentiality. So, unless these people say they belong to a masonic lodge, there is no way to know.

In order to become a Freemason you must approach someone who is already a Mason and ask him about joining a Lodge. As with Masonic Lodges anywhere in the world, you will be carefully examined as to your life and your reasons for wishing to join. Masons must be men of good character who have a sincere desire to benefit others. If, in the view of even one member, you do not come up to this standard, your application may be rejected. The more you earn the respect of others, the easier the process of joining will be. There are quite a number of Masonic Lodges in Ghana under the Grand Lodge of England, so you should be able to locate a lodge hall in your area.

The District Grand Master is RW Bro. Virendra K Talwar according to the UGLE website. It doesn't say if he is Kenyan. The District Grand Master for the Grand Lodge of Scotland (which has three lodges in Nairobi) is Bro. Mansur Asaria. It doesn't say where he is from.

The lack of information about the whereabouts of the members of the order in East Africa may be because there appears to be a wealth of East Africans who are obsessed with Freemasonry and might harass and annoy any known members of the organization with constant requests for membership. As a result, the members keep a low profile to protect their privacy.

Second, if Khomeini was a British agent, he was the worst kind of agent in that he toppled a pro-British regime and replaced it with a regime categorically opposed to all British interests. Khomeini was also opposed to Freemasons, effectively hunting them out of the country. Khomeini also opposed the Muslim Brotherhood since the latter was a Sunni Islamist organization as opposed to a Shiite Islamist organization; this led directly to the creation of Hezbollah to be a Shiite option in the Islamist Militant sphere.
