Was captain Edward Rickenbacker a Freemason?
Yes, Brother Rickenbacker was indeed a Freemason. He was raised a Master Mason in Kilwinning Lodge #297 in Detroit, Michigan in 1922.
not sure, he could be as he is incredibly famous in Hollywood and the music game, plus he got a 3 dot pyramid tattoo on his face regardless to what people say ( it's there coz either he seen sum1 get killed or lost a friend) i reckon all that is made up and it's much more to it then just that
Just to set the record straight, being incredibly famous, being a musician and having a 3 dot tattoo are not marks of being a Mason, any more than they are marks of being a shortstop.
Is President Jimmy Carter a Freemason?
The following 14 US Presidents were Freemasons:
James Monroe
Andrew Jackson
James Polk
James Buchanan
Andrew Johnson
James Garfield
William McKinley
Howard Taft
Warren Harding
Harry Truman
Gerald Ford
Some confusion has arisen about President Carter because he took his oath of office on the George Washington Bible which belongs to St. Johns Lodge in New York City. Because the Bible belonged to a Masonic Lodge many writers assumed he was a Freemason.
This Bible was first used on April 30, 1789, by the Grand Master of the Masons in New York, to administer the oath of office to George Washington, the first president. Other presidents who took their oath of office with this Bible are Warren G. Harding, Dwight D. Eisenhower and George W. Bush.
Lyndon B. Johnson was initiated on October 30, 1937 in Johnson City Lodge No. 561, at Johnson City, Texas, but completed only the Entered Apprentice, or first, of the three Masonic degrees. For this reason, he is a Brother of all Freemason's in every way. Many think that if a Mason is not a Master Mason (3rd Degree) then he is not a Mason, this is false. When we leave this life we all where the Apprentice Apron.
Freemasonry was not "founded" at all. It evolved as an institution from medieval workmen's guilds. In 1717 four Lodges in London formed the first Grand Lodge. By this time, Masonic Lodges had nothing to do with practical stonework and was devoted to more speculative philosophy. These Lodges started new Lodges which spread throughout the world, forming new Grand Lodges as they went. Over time, some Grand Lodges disagreed with each other over rules, organization and points of teaching to the extent that they refused to recognize each other as Masons. Masonry continues to grow and evolve into the 21st century.
How do you close a masonic lodge?
The Masonic term "Lodge" can refer to a particular local group of Masons that has been properly chartered by a Grand Lodge, to the building they meet in, or to an "official" Masonic meeting. How you close a Masonic Lodge therefore depends on what Lodge you are referring to. In short, the answers to closing each are:
A Lodge meeting (e.g. a Lodge of Master Masons) is closed in a similar manner to that by which it was opened, according to a ritual prescribed by their Grand Lodge. Although very similar, these vary somewhat between jurisdictions. To get much more detail, you really have to join and see for yourself.
A local Lodge, (e.g. Freemasons Lodge No. 999) would be closed when it has surrendered its charter to, or had it removed by, the Grand Lodge which issued it.
A lodge building, often called a Masonic Temple, would be closed the same ay any other building is closed -- turn out the lights and lock the doors on your way out.
Are there any masons in NASCAR?

Brian Conz, Livonia Lodge No. 586 in Livonia, Michigan

David Ragan, Williams Lodge in Cornelius, North Carolina - his car represents the Shriner's Hospitals
There is no way to know if a person is a Freemason unless they present a dues card.

As of this writing, Jesse Ventura is most likely not a Freemason. Understand that, in most cases, it is virtually impossible to prove a negative, therefore one cannot say with absolute certainty that he is NOT a Freemason, but there is no reputable evidence to indicate that he is, despite the claims of some "conspiracy" websites.
The Freemasons, like most groups, are very proud of their famous members and usually point them out publicly. If former Governor Ventura was a Mason, it is to be expected that he would be publicly claimed as a member by his lodge and by the Fraternity. When the only claims of membership come from anti-masons it is very unlikely that the person really is one. Despite what some say, Freemasonry simply isn't a "secret society" and there are generally plenty of records to be found.

Why did the Founding Fathers create the Freemasons?
They didn't create Freemasonry. However, many of the founding fathers were Freemasons. Freemasons date well before the United States.
Unlikely. There are very very few Masonic Lodges in North America which admit women.
Was Lee Harvey Oswald a freemason?
I don't think so, but it is possible.
I spoke to JFK on the ouija board, and asked him if it was the secret service that killed him. He said no, that it was "Ozzy". I asked if he was working alone or if he was working for someone else, and he said "Mason". Based off of this, I would say that Lee Harvey Oswald was either a freemason, or at the very least had some connection to the masons.
Is Green Day a Freemasons Band?
Green Day have never had any connection with any type of "Freemasons". That being from the exclusive club, to the girl band. Nor has anyone ever come forward to claim this.
The Freemasons society does not endorse Bands financially or in any other way.
Are there women in freemasonry?
No, women can be part of the Freemasons sister sorority the Order of the Eastern Stars. Man, may also be Stars, but women are not Freemasons.
There are Masonic Organizations which include women such as the Droit Humain and the female Masonic Lodge in Britain. Their numbers are quite small but they do exist.
Freemasonry is one of if not the oldest fraternal society. It aims to make good men better through a "system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols."
That is to say, Freemasonry is a community of somewhat like-minded men that forms a community that helps members to improve themselves through moral lessons.
Freemasons tend to be very charitable givers, supporting public education programs, scholarships, children's hospitals, and other causes.
The biggest Freemason was Robert Wadlow, who was 8'11" and weighed 490 lbs at the time of his death.
Yes.. and is a lower degree than most of his opponents in the Liberal Party..
I guess that is like being a lower degree of pregnant than somebody else....
What is the Freemason conspiracy?
People who believe in Masonic conspiracies generally will tell you something like this:
The Freemasons are just another name for the Illuminati or elite, moneyed ruling group of family financiers and world bankers that actually run the world behind a veil of corruption and secrecy. It should be noted that the lower degrees of Freemasonry are kept completely in the dark as to the goals and schemes of the upper masons. It is only the very elite that have true understanding. What is known about this group is that is is a religious cult, their god of choice is named Lucifer. Yes, the same Lucifer from the bible. We now know him as Satan. They of course deny this and have for centuries but it does not change the fact that it is true. The goal of all Illuminati and higher-up Freemasons is a one-world government that they of course control completely. In addition to this, they will, with the help of the Pope, combine all world religions together under the guise of 'spiritial enlightenment' which is their Luciferian religion. If all this sounds like a bad movie it is not surprising. There is of course no evidence for any part of this proposterous story, notwithstanding that there are millions of Masons around the world. The conspiracy theorists say that there is no evidence for their conspiracy theory because almost nobody knows the truth and it has all been successfully covered up by someone. But the truth is that they are mentally ill people who have allowed their fears of a worldwide conspiracy make them believe in such a conspiracy in the face of overwhelming evidence that there is no such thing. And in fact every single statement in their fantasy story is false.
What is the Masonic second degree ritual?
The Second Degree in Freemasonry is the Fellowcraft degree, builds on the lessons taught in the first, or Entered Apprentice, degree and prepares for the Third, or Master Mason, degree, which is considered the highest degree in Freemasonry.
Like the other Masonic degree rituals, it teaches lessons of morality and personal honor, and asks the candidate to swear to conduct himself accordingly. The rituals are supposed to be solemn and insightful ceremonies and are not degrading or demeaning to the candidate, his morals or his personal beliefs.
As with many ritualistic fraternal organizations, the ritual is one of the few things about Freemasonry that is supposed to be secret, because it includes the words and signs used for Masonic recognition. There have, however, been a great many "exposures" of those rituals, starting shortly after the first Grand Lodge was formed in the early 1700's. Some of these exposures have been accurate, for their time, and some have not. The point of many of them was to discredit the Fraternity, and so some are very fictitious. Most that are available today are from the 19th century or earlier, and though they may be similar, they do not properly reflect the rituals in use by the vast majority of Masonic Lodges today.
If you are considering becoming a Freemason, I urge you to avoid spoiling the experience by looking at the various versions of the rituals beforehand.
