Looking from the front of the vehicle it is on the right hand side underneath and to the left of the brake booster (large diameter canister with the master brake cylinder mounted on it). The fuel filter is a cylinder about 4 inches in diameter and about 5 to 6 inches tall. It has an inlet and outlet fuel line attached to it. It is attached to the firewall with with 2 bolts. If you replace it go to Toyota or Chevrolet. I tried an aftermarket filter and the bolt holes did not line up properly so I went to Toyota.

If I recall correctly, there are four on the 1.6L one is on the front behind the alternator.

There isn't one, it uses the same resivor that the front washers use. Under the bonnet, just behind the right hand front tire.

I was told by a mechanic that whenever the engine light is on, it's because of an emission problem. To find out what kind of problem, you need to have it checked by a diagnostic machine at an auto shop.

Find the solenoid that holds the shift linkage and either disable it or repair it. On the gear selector panel there is a removable little retangular plug remove the plug and use a screwdriver to push down (you'll see where to push) don't forget to hold the brake pedal down at the same time. This is called the shift lock override

Answer Options. There a few features that are standard on the LSI that are options on the Base model (if I recall it is things like tach, power windows/locks, folding rear seat, things like that). I always thought the way to tell the difference between the two was the trim around the windows. LSI has black trim while the base is mostly body colored. Having said that I have 02 Base with the above features, no black trim and my Insurance says it's a LSI. Go figure.

First the issue with the wipers and blinkers is a bad fuse. The issue with the car not going into drive is the shift censor needs replaced.

In the gas tank. Remove the bottom of the back seat and you'll find an access hole for it. Just take the screws off this cover and you can access the fuel pump this way.

Try your local autozone. They should be able to give you a print out. If that fails, try looking in a Haynes repair manual.

Take the door panel off, remove the moisture barrier and access it from the inside of the door. Should be a large metal clip holding it on to the door. Of course, you'll have to disconnect the lock rod from it too.

When you open the hood, the fuel pump relay switch is located on the driver side under the black fuse box towards the back of the car. The fuel injector relay is also located under there along with the A/C relay.

My 1998 Chevy Prism has 253,000 miles on it without any engine problems. I used to use synthetic castrol 10w30 until synthetic prices went up but recently have just been using castrol 10w30. I think the manual calls for 5w30. I change my oil every five thousand miles via walmart n have them rotate the tires at the same time. 253k miles down another 750k to go!

Tires will wear on edge typically as if out of alignment. By taking weight off front end with jack, check play side to side and top to bottom of wheels. If knuckle of tie rods have play, it is a pretty good indicator it is time to replace. Sometimes if tie rods bad, hitting a bump on highway will affect steering and feel sway. You will have to get a realignment after ward.

The A/C clutch engages and disengeges when the pressure in the system is too low. The most likely cause is that it needs to be recharged. If you recharge the system, make sure to use R134a and purchase at least a small pressure gauge. You can also purchase a hose that lets you fill the system right from the small cans of refrigerant. All of this can be purchased at your local auto parts store.

Remove the 2 screws from the glove bos striker and take it off. Detach the rear upper glove box panel, then disconnect the wire from the blower and take off the rubber air hose between the blower and housing. Next disconnect the cable fron the case and remove the 3 blower case mounting screws and lower the case. Take out the 3 mounting screws and lift the motor out. If you're putting in a new one, you'll either have to reuse the wheel or buy a new one.

I have a 1993 Geo Prizm, and there is a fuse block is located to the left of your left leg; on the plastic panel. There is a pull out access door there.

Looking from the passenger side into the engine compartment you will see the water pump pulley attached to the serpentine belts. The pump is in the top middle location. Power steering pump is to the left, alternator to the top right and A/C compressor to the lower right. You must remove many components in order to remove the water pump since the mounting bolts are behind the timing belt covers. I will add a related question to this one which has additional details.

Turn off the engine

You'll need to drain the oil pan, then remove it. Then take something and tap the old one out and install a new one. That is if you broke the tube. If just the dipstick is broken off, you'll still have to remove the oil pan and pull the old one out through the bottom of the tube. You will be able to see the end of it without the pan on.
